  • Manning a Passage Red Tailed Hawk for Falconry Day 1 - ACR Outdoors
    Join Rip my trapped wild caught passage Red tailed hawk and I as we work on manning him to hunt this season.
    Thanks for watching our falconry adventures and make sure to check out my other videos as I have lots of how to videos on falconry (i.e. how to trap a hawk, how to train a hawk for falconry, how to build a giant hood, how to trade off and many more) We are also working toward "going live" on some hunts so you can join us and see what falconry is all about.
    A falconry license is required to own/hunt a coopers hawk in Ontario.
    Contact Ontario hawking club for more information.
    I'm in my third year of falconry and I'm always learning so please check with your sponsor if you have any questions.

    Hey just trapped mine today! I'm excited yet very nervous about the manning part. I hate making any creature stressed but I know it's just a process of time.

      It's definitely a little stressful in the beginning but they learn quickly. Enjoy your time with your bird

    Are they good at ground squirrels? I am having hard time figuring out if Kestrel, Red-tailed hawk or Swainson's hawk would be best for that

      Red tailed hawk are great with grey squirrels but I don't have ground squirrels here so I'm not sure.

    Hello, so I know the matured Redtail should be released when trapped here in the USA because they are our breeding stock.... but
    is it actually possible to train a Matured Hawk of any kind especially Red Tails.
    My daughter asked me this question,..🤔..
    And I couldn’t actually answer her..🙆🏾‍♂️🤔…😁

      @ACRfalconry  2 года назад

      We are not allowed to in Canada as well and I heard it's because it's very hard to train them.

    Love it bro. Here its illegal to trap your bird. The swinging back on the glove is not my style. Id rather help the bird. But you are doing a great job. Do you have goshawks there at your place? They are a littlebit more nervous but wow what is hunting with them satisfying.

    • @ACRfalconry
      @ACRfalconry  2 года назад +1

      Yes we can trap one ever year with proper licensing. I'm thinking of applying for a goshawk this year fingers crossed 🤞

      @@ACRfalconry ooh wow i would love to see that in your vids. I just subscribed. Keep the good work up bro! Btw goshawks are def not following birds so a dog is no luxury.

    Think it’s too late to find passage birds right now?

      No, you could still find some closer to the lake

      @@ACRfalconry I’m not far from Lake Erie. I know port Burwell is a major staging ground during the fall migration. Near me. Maybe I’ll try down there
