From Missouri to Indiana: Meeting Old Friends & New Faces - Trans American Adventure Ep. 11
In this episode, I leave St. Charles, Missouri, and continue my ride along the Bike Nonstop route. After reaching the end of the Katy Trail, I’m joined by two fellow cyclists who came out to meet me on the trail. After saying goodbye, I push on and set up camp near Sorento, Illinois. Although I was expecting heavy rain the next day, I got lucky with just some light showers, though I did battle a headwind most of the day.
As I rode through Illinois, the adventure continued in ways I couldn’t have planned, and in an unexpected turn of events excessive drinking in a bar had only positive outcomes for me! I had a great night with friendly locals, and was even given permission to camp under a p...

A Warm Welcome on the Katy Trail: Incredible Riding Across Missouri - TransAm Adventure Ep. 10
Просмотров 14 тыс.21 час назад
In this episode, I set off from Gallatin, Missouri, and spend most of my time riding along the beautiful Katy Trail-a section of trail that quickly became one of my favourites of the entire trip. The Katy Trail is a scenic bike trail that stretches across Missouri, and I loved every minute of it. After many miles of solo riding across Wyoming and Nebraska, this part of the journey was a welcome...

After a much-needed day off in Norfolk, Nebraska, I set off feeling refreshed and ready for the next stretch of the journey. This episode covers a few of the most enjoyable days of the tour so far as I continue along the Bike Nonstop route, passing through Hooper and Blair before reaching Omaha, where I cross into Iowa. The real highlight of this leg begins just outside Omaha, where I hop onto ...

In this episode, I continue my journey across Nebraska on the Bike Nonstop route, starting from Harrison and riding through a series of small towns like Chadron, Gordon, and Valentine, before ending the video in Norfolk, Nebraska. The first few days of this leg were some of the toughest yet, with long stretches of highway riding under the relentless sun and temperatures nearing 100°F (38°C). Th...
New Route, New Challenges: Bike Nonstop Begins! - Trans American Cycling Adventure Episode 7
Просмотров 17 тыс.28 дней назад
In this episode, I make a big change in my journey and switch from the classic Trans America Trail to the Bike Nonstop Route. The decision comes with a mix of excitement and uncertainty as I set off from Dubois, Wyoming, into uncharted territory without the detailed guidance I've become used to from the ACA guides for the classic Trans Am. The spontaneity of not knowing where the next services ...

In this video, I continue my journey along the Trans America Bicycle Trail, leaving the wide-open spaces of Montana and heading into the rugged beauty of Wyoming. The adventure takes me right through Yellowstone National Park, where I get to experience some of its most famous geysers, including the iconic Old Faithful. The scenery is breathtaking, but as always, the ride comes with its share of...
Tough Choices: Sticking with the TransAm or Switching Routes? TransAm Cycling Adventure | Ep. 5
Просмотров 17 тыс.Месяц назад
In this video, I continue my journey across Montana, following the classic Trans America Bicycle Trail. The ride kicks off with more challenging and nerve-wracking highway stretches, where narrow shoulders and close passes by large vehicles kept me on edge. These roads really made me question whether I should stick to the traditional route or switch to the Bike Nonstop route, which diverges in ...
Challenging Roads, Stunning Scenery: Idaho to Montana - Trans American Cycling Adventure | Ep. 4

In this video I begin by setting off from Council, Idaho, and as I was warned by a west-bounder I camped with, I immediately found myself on a really unpleasant stretch of busy highway with a narrow shoulder, and was on roads like this for most of the day. To top things off I was starting to feel as if I was coming down with some sort of cough/cold, and generally found myself a bit fed up with ...

In this video I set off from my motel that I stayed at in John Day, Oregon, and thankfully found a slightly cooler morning waiting for me. Unfortunately this did not last, and after one nice fresh day of riding I was back into the heat for the next few days. I passed through some lovely little American towns again, and eventually left Oregon, crossing into Idaho, a state I briefly rode through ...

In this video I begin to settle into my Trans American ride, this was no doubt helped by the fact that I started to move away from the busy coastal roads and found some far quieter, far more enjoyable sections. Not the bike computer. You need a Garmin InReach (or equivalent). It's ana emergency SOS device with a tracking facility. It works really well.
