Hi Mat. I would use the Nortent for single overnighters when you go up high and need bad weather security. Montserrat sure does look pretty, as did your rice and turkey supper. The sore throat is probably the result of inhaling a Spanish Tse Tse fly in your sleep. You initially feel better after a couple of days but the eggs that they lay cling to your lungs. There's a very high mortality rate and no known antidote. Tell Caroline I'll have 1st dibs on your camper please. Gaudi certainly has designed some impressive buildings. Spain is amazing! I had a 40th birthday weekend in Barcelona so didn’t really see much, other than a bus sightseeing trip. Great video and some amazing places. If you haven’t seen the to show The Detectorists, which is great, they always correct the person who asks “are you a metal detector?” With “detetcorists!” 😁
I enjoyed Barcelona, which is a proper commendation seeing as how cities generally drive me crazy. I really have to watch The Detectorists. It keeps coming up. Cheers 👍

I think the GDMBR has you still in good shape, to be doing these hikes at high elevation. The TransAmerica should be a breeze. And hope that breeze is a tailwind.
Great adventure! Stunning views on the hike and in Barcelona. For the sore throat, try manukah honey lozenges. Wyoming has very low humidity, and Xylimelt lozenges are also good overnight. You just stick one between gum and cheek and it dissolves slowly. Take care.
Totally agree on Spains graffiti issue. I lived in Barcelona over a couple decades ago and it was a big issue even then. It was everywhere, on walls, monuments, alleys, etc. But it didn’t seem like the locals were really that bothered by it. I found it sad…

I cycled through Vigo in Spin a few weeks ago. They did have cycle lanes but with traffic lights every 50m it felt like. Not a great experience to be honest. Certainly compared to the Netherlands.

I had the same Soto stove on the GDMBR and really liked it, but one of the small set screws was lost and I couldn't find a replacement. REI didnt have the stove in stock. So I replaced it with a Pocket Rocket.
Hi Ron. That's annoying. I'll check the screws and make sure I have a spare. I loved my Pocket Rocket Deluxe and seriously considered just getting another new one. Hopefully I made the right choice.

Mat have you considered using a hammock , i can reccomend the one wind 11ft with their windsock and a down underquilt add a dd tarp and you have a luxury sleep/comfort with no ache or pains in the mornings imho far superior to any other sleep system trouble is getting out of it in the mornings .
I have a Dutchware Chameleon and definitely sleep better in a hammock. I think I'm a bit worried about finding pitches etc. I'll look into your recommendation. It might be the way to go. Cheers 👍
Re sore throat at night, if you snore or mouth breath while sleeping, you can end up with a sore throat from breathing the dry air. Worse in dry areas like the desert. Had that problem 2 weeks ago bike touring the White Rim in Utah.
Mat, another great video. Was wondering with all the time traveling, do you wish you had purchased a larger RV? I see some that you park next to and wonder if it wouldn't make more sense as much as you are on the road. Also, have you ever pondered bringing the boy wonder on these trips. Instead of having him plan your trips from home do it in real time? Finally, love your historical information you bring with the sights, have you ever considered speaking about some sights significance to WWII, I am a huge fan of WWII history. Hi. I'm 100% happy with my van. A bigger one would be nice but I can go almost anywhere with this. There are a lot of 3.5 tonne restrictions in Europe and I am under that threshold. 'The Boy Wonder'🤣🤣. I'd love for him to come out on these trips, I'm sure it'll happen in the future. I too am fascinated by WWII but I think a dedicated road tour would make more sense. I'll get around to it. I loved Colorado. I'll be back soon there soon. My TransAm cycle ride starts July 22nd. It's raining and cold here in France.

What a gorgeous place! The Soto Windmaster is a favorite piece of gear. Hundreds of meals and only had to rebuild it once.
