    Congrats on getting that tractor running, driving and cutting! I’d probably do a full restoration and put a high price tag on it, enjoying it until the right buyer came along. If you think your son would appreciate it some day, maybe paint his name on it and tell him some day he’ll be old enough to drive it. Just make sure to start teaching him how to maintain it now!😉🔧👍

    A way to remember which is which is think about the phrase, “drill and tap”. Another way (for us up North), is “tapping” sugar maples for sap. I don’t think sorghum is tapped down South. 😉 How about “tapping” that keg? 😁

    Your videos are fine. Your work is fine. I don't know why Wheel Horses aren't all over the south but I've never seen one down here. My little brother had one in Michigan that he swore by. He's gone but I bet his son is still using that beast. LOL Thank you for the videos. I used to be a collector also but between my health and thieves I can't even cut my sisters' grass anymore. But I still get to watch y'all fix them.

    Hopefully you see this. I have a 96 4wd I'm doing an SM465 swap into. It would be neat if you did a video on finishing up the little things with the manual swap. Like installing the new driveshaft, where you got it/if you had it custom made and the price. Also the reverse wiring/speed sensor. If you plan on getting those working, I'd like to see how you adapt it into the existing automatic wiring. Good video man, I'd say you did a fantastic job especially without a lift and a trans jack.

    • @LaidOffGarage
      @LaidOffGarage 2 дня назад

      I ended up finding an aluminum driveshaft from a Chevy express van and had it shortened. Needed that done and a conversion ujoint for the rear end. The the 4l80/60s use the same slip yoke as the nv3500. I haven’t tackled the reverse light wiring yet but I plan on doing it one day. I’ve got roughly 500 miles on the swap and it’s been perfect! Feel free to ask me any questions and hopefully I’ll be able to help!

    • @LaidOffGarage

      Let’s hope it’s an easy fix and not the pickup coil on the onan causing no spark. They are very expensive !

    • @terrymiler2164
      @terrymiler2164 2 дня назад

      @LaidOffGarage that's what I think it is. It was pegging the gauge for charging and then this happened.

    • @LaidOffGarage
      @LaidOffGarage День назад

      @@terrymiler2164the 416H that I’ve shown on the channel a couple times had an intermittent no spark issue. I chased wires and swapped every part possible before I found out that the pickup coil/exciter ring even existed. It’d start and run great and as soon as the engine got some heat in it it’d start losing spark. Had another onan with a broke rod and I borrowed the pickup and ring off it. Haven’t had an issue since.

      Due to how a Bendix engages and disengages with a flywheel, one or the other is eventually going to wear out, so making the less expensive part sacrificial makes sense. It’s just the nature of the mechanics of starters.

    Yeah those Trans axles are a lot of fun working on. i have a MTD rider that I gave to my daughter when she bought her first house. I replaced the carb, fuel lines, fuel filter, 2 tires, all the belts, both spindles and blades, and reworked the trans axle. I did this due to slipping. Problem solved...except i forgot to tell her that there was an oil leak that I didnt have time to get to. Then I delivered it to her house and completly forgot to tell her to check the oil frequently. I got ran out of oil, something broke inside, so she bought a new mower and the MTD is sitting in my backyard waiting for me to aquire a new engine. 17.5 to 20 HP. LOL live and learn!

    I started a lawn cutting business at age 10 with an 8HP Wheel Horse Hydrostatic Transmission tractor. Wore that out after about 5 years and purchased a Wheel Horse 8HP 4 speed. I had that business from age 10 to 21 when I graduated college. Paid my way through school with that business and those Wheel Horse tractors. Both were only 36" cuts but they did the job.
