Good Deeds Sailing
Великобритания
Добавлен 27 фев 2023
Welcome/Witamy to Good Deeds Sailing.
Sailing around the world doing good deeds! :)
We are Lee (🇬🇧), a maintenance engineer, and Karolina (🇵🇱) a dental hygienist, and together with our cat PJ we plan to fulfill our dream of sailing around the world doing charity work as and where we can. First we have to refit our cheap sailboat, a 1976 31ft Westerly Berwick ready to travel across to France, through the French canals and into the Mediterranean sea. Here we plan to gain more sailing experience and source a larger sail boat to carry our tools and equipment.
Although novices at boat renovation and refits we are sharing as much of the refit and engine installation and tips as we can, before setting out on our new minimalistic but hopefully fulfilling life.
Join us on our crazy adventure as we set off around the world doing good deeds.

His guys Im interested in doing the same trip in the future. can I ask the cost from Calais to port St Louis, You also mentioned it took 3 weeks to do the first part and 3 weeks to do the middle part and two to do the last part , Was this your choice to take so long , Can it be done in a shorter time as being self employed that's a long time off work , thanks Shane
@shanepalmer6899 hi Shane, welcome aboard and thanks for your comment. Yes, it can be done quicker, depending how many hours a day you travel and how much sightseeing you do. We will make an episode Q&A where we will explain everything as there is a lot to tell. Thanks for your questions, we will add them to our Q&A episode. Please feel free to check out our episodes as you will find lots of information in them already. 😊
Fantastic, following your adventures 😎😎😎 love it and stay safe and PJ 😘😘
Thanks so much Bob! Hope you and family are well 🥰
love this! :D
Thanks 😁
wow that weed guys thats a right pain especially when like you say you haven't got much of an area to reverse without hitting the mast but good job guys
Thanks for the comment, yes it was a long drawn out process getting through that tunnel.
love the cemetery very well maintained
Funnily enough that was one of our favourite stops
great video lovely place do you have the location where you stopped with the big barge and the campervans looks like a great stop to take my campervan with zac my little boy and go for a paddle @3:32
Hi Rob, the place we stopped is called Chaumont. Really nice place to take your family
ow wow that is so cool when they have those places to get a bagget that's great with we had them in the UK but would prob get smashed lol. they are so friendly always happy to help like the black smith
It's amazing they have them in so many places, pizza machines too
another great video guys wow so dark remind me of when I went to the new forest could not see a thing great video 🙂
We consider ourselves quite privileged to have been allowed to navigate the canals after hours. Was a great experience
hi ya both just catching up lol, great video tons of weed is there I thought we was bad in the UK but there it seem like a lot is that just a seasonal thing or is it constant in that area?
Hi Rob, nice to hear from you again and thanks for the comment. Yep the weed is pretty bad especially summer and winter. They do their best to clear it but it just grows so quick in the sunny conditions.
What a great episode. The scenery in that section was beautiful. What was your favorite part of the canals/rivers? Is there a section you wished you had more time for? We are so happy to support all 3 of you. Very glad to hear Captain PJ is doing much better.
Here is a question for the Q&A: What was the hardest thing you had to deal with while cruising through the french waterways??
Thanks for your comment and question for the Q&A episode. So glad your enjoying our channel 😍
wow, what a beautiful sunset!!! 😍
It really was, very nice 👌
Congrats! Plenty to see in that area. Suzy and I spent Christmas in a motor home in port st louis and a local Boulanger came and took bread orders Xmas eve and delivered Xmas morning 👍 I bought a fishing rod from a great tackle shop in Agues morts so I could spend hours feeding fish not catching them😄 Atb Rob.
Hi Rob, that sounds just like the way we fish lol. Port Saint Louis we find is very convenient for everything we need at the moment, what with the supermarket bring just a short walk away. 🙂
Please dont forget to leave a question for the Q&A epidode ❤
Love your updates. A few questions for your Q & A upcoming session. Do you have much sailing experience and have you done any RYA courses. ? How much did you pay for your Westerly ? Do you know what your next boat will be ?
Hi Dave, thanks for the comment and the questions 😀 hope you enjoyed this episode. Have a great evening 👍
Well done guys! Bravi!
Hi Alessio, thank you. We are on our way lol 😆
Got one question: what was your favourite stop and why? :)
Thank you for the question, goes in with the redt , 😄
Fantastic!🤩 Well done guys! thanks for showing us Arles, looks like a really nice place! also, thanks for the map. I love maps lol
Thank you for the comment. Not a problem so glad you enjoyed this episode 😊
Finally in the Med. I am looking forward to your thoughts and adventures there. I loved following you guys from England to here. Not just going from A to B......You also focussed on history. The French are funny. Question: Why a double railway bridge? Why this half bridge still blocking traffic? Why only a goodbeye in English in the last lock? Why still, as Lee mentioned, bullfighting in the Colosseum? As for PJ, I do hope he is OK and will stay that way for a long time. Fingers crossed. The umbrella. That was nice....Lee said "Mary Poppins". Really funny. Now a bit on history: Julius Caesar invented "Panem et Circenses". He was conquering the world known to him and that had an impact on the people in Rome, the rest of Italy and the regions that were under Roman reign. They were all starving, more or less. So, Julius thought, feed them and give them sth to keep their minds happy in order to prevent them from revolting. After Julius was murdered successive emperors kept that idea in mind. That worked until the year 476 when a Germanic warlord, with help from the Huns, defeated Caesar Romulus Augustulus, which marked the end of the Roman Empire. Funnily and sadly enough......I think the principle "Panem et Circenses" is still used by loads of governments, also in Europe. However, I will not turn your beautiful channel and story into a political thing. Fair winds and following seas.
Hi Gert, we love your comments 👍 all questions have been noted, we will answer a couple each. Yes you are quite correct about the circus, it's one of the reasons we left when we did. We did actually run aground under that bridge there's only a few metres to the side navigable. Best wishes
Glad you made it through
Thank you Brenda, that was the longest time we were in a tunnel 😵
So nice to pick up rubbish
Thanks again Brenda, we try to do as much as we can as we go along 😀
Love watching
Thank you Brenda, so glad you enjoyed this episode 🥰
I enjoy seeing the maps
me too :)
Thank you Brenda, plenty more coming 🙂
The swans were cool
They were amazing, it's been a long time since we saw so many together xx
Do you eat the fish?
No we catch and release all freshwater fish, unless it's a Trout or Salmon 😀
So interesting
Thank you, so glad you enjoyed this episode 😊
Great job stay warm
Thanks for the comment Brenda, stay warm too 😊

Congratulates...that was quite a journey through the french canals. It must be a great feeling being back in open water again. Soon be under sail again.⛵⛵
Thanks Bruce, yes it was quite a journey and we loved it, was really worth to do. The Med next 🤞🤞

@@gooddeedssailingis my question going in the episode? 😂
Congratulations on completing your epic journey through France. Enjoy your Mediterranean adventures
Thanks Wavedancer, thanks for watching. We hope you enjoy them too 👍
Congratulations on reaching the med, a new chapter in your adventures lies ahead. Good to hear PJ is responding well to the medication, probably a good idea to invest in some chainmail gauntlets!
Thanks Chris, you seem to know PJ well lol but yes he's responding well to his meds, once taken. A brand new playlist for us to make now. We hope you continue to enjoy. Best wishes 👋
Well done, nice choice of music. Very much enjoying your videos bring on the Med.
Thanks Cainman, we didn't want the music to be upbeat for a venue which for many would have been their last. Thanks for noticing👍👎👍
Brilliant, well on your way.
Thanks Kim, so glad your enjoying our videos. Miss u xx
Yes, new horizons ahead! 🤩⛵️ sending hugs xx
I have really been enjoying your journey so far, glad to hear PJ is on the mend. Hope you enjoyed your down time at the marina.😊
Thanks Harvey, hope it wasn't too windy where you are 🫣 thanks again for the comment. Yep PJ seems back to his normal self. The difference in the weather here is much more comfortable so we shall make the most of it and roll on summer ☀️
Congratulations to both of You. Well done, You are professional sailors . I hope we talk soon. Keep safe and enjoy Your journey. 👍🙏 Best regards, Bogdan.
Thanks so much Bodgan, Not sure about professionals, but we are slowly getting there! 😉 every day it's a new experience and new sailing life lesson. Hope you're well 😊 x
Thanks Bogdan, another great comment. Best wishes from us too. Yes definitely speak soon. 👋
Poor PJ! What a shock! I hope he's doing better now. Great work getting him the diagnosis and care he needs x
Hi Gemma, yes it was a big shock. He is much improved and his appetite seems to have gone into overdrive. Keep you updated xx
Loved your comment about the TV licence man, Lee 😂
Thanks Gemma, bane of my life 🤣
😂 Mine too! I burst out laughing when you said that
Great video once again thank you. You mentioned a Q&A video, I have a question or two if you don't mind. Would it be possible for the date to be shown or mentioned in each episode. Do you have a time line of which countries to vist and when. Have you any particular make of boat you're looking to continue your adventures. Thanks in advance, stay safe and live your dreams
Hi Keith, thanks for the comment and thanks for the questions. I can answer one now and the other two we'll save for the Q&A episode. Now we are getting a bit more organised we will be mentioning dates in all new episodes Hope the winds have died down now in the UK. 🤞
Congratulations👍 and now as the canal chapter close's we look forward as the Mediterranean chapter opens 😊for your next part of your adventure ,at least you have some decent weather which is more than can be said for us here.
Hi Keith, we've seen how bad the weather is in the UK at the moment, hope it's not too bad where you are 🤞 Yep onto the Med now we hope you enjoy our next 'playlist' and thanks for watching. 👍
Well Done guys. Now Lee has to get some fishing tackle that he can use in the sea..
Hi Acetrader, Lees already got his sea fiddling tackle, just needs to catch a fish lol 😆
Enjoyed your video glad I got to see it before bed time and glad Pj is doing well xx see you on the next video 😊
Hi Jo, so glad your enjoying our videos. Onto the Med now. Love you loads 💗
Well done, very much enjoyed your journey through the canals and down the rivers. It brought back many happy memories. Good luck with your stay in the Med.
Hi Barry, thanks for the comment 🙂 so glad you enjoyed our journey so far and it brought back some great memories. Now we have to put all these videos into their own 'playlist' and get a new one ready for the Med. Roll on summer ☀️
Another great episode guys. Liked the fast-forward video viewpoint very nice perspectives. Hope to see the viewpoint camera regularly. Are you close to revealing any decisions regarding the search for the next vessel. I was thinking you likely need to travel to see the prospects.
Hi Michael, thanks for the comment and thanks for the feedback,. We will definitely incorporate this angle and more into out upcoming videos. Yes, the next vessel, we've been given the whereabouts of many boatyards with abandoned boats etc. We need to keep heading east it seems the boats get cheaper and also Tunisia and Morocco. Enjoy the rest of the weekend 🙂
This episode is a rare one, of going through a lock in the dark. They actually had to open it for us out of hours so we could pass through. Fantastic service. ruclips.net/video/4u362Y-VcTs/видео.htmlsi=bJIIvCiAInu7RLyL
Just a tip if you don't already watch the recent RUclips videos about searching for a used sailboat produced by the channel called Sailing Zingaro. Just today, he had a Live with more awesome guidance.
Nice work!
Thanks Matthew, glad you appreciated the novel approach 😀
