It is worrisome that you just stopped. I truly hope your ok.
Did the Arizona Trail eat all up.. Just Concern what happened to you and your boys. 9 Lives 🐾 Appalachian Adventure Guides, Appalachian Outward Bound.
WHERE DID YOU GO?
Hpw are you folks doing...i have only utube, if you are on another platform, im not getting updates.
I am Praying for them. They just stopped sending out videos.
Will the rest be posted?
Did you vlog the CDT?
What packs are each of you using?
I love that people help others!!!!!!
The hockey puck is actually an adventure rider motorcycle hack. The kickstands are terrible for sand and the cost of a longer and wider kickstand is outrageous. A hockey puck is super cheap, bolts on and sometimes weighs less. They also last a few years so it’s a better alternative for most people.
Really restores one's faith in humanity when 3 people stopped by to check on your son!!!
Omg half a gallon of ice cream then sandwiches!?!?!? Beautiful sunset in the volcanic area!! The lava cave was amazing. The energy of the guys is incredible, after hiking the first thing they do is play basketball!! Such nice people in Burney! And elsewhere too! Nice you took a zero for the important stuff lol
I feel for you, i get carsick even when driving! 😆 Look up acupressure points for nausea, on the inside of the wrist, either one.
Ive seen your family drink "clean" water without filtration, there is giardia in all the west coast and perhaps farther, so filter all water!!
You may not see this, im watching your videos in may 2024.. try a backpacking solar panel, I have one about $20, 10x8 and a few oz. bought years ago so im guessing they've improved. Also, a waist light setup for walking in the dark, lights the trails really well. Kind of pricey, but i dont see why one couldn't make one with a headlamp. Also, a pocket holder for your phone so you have 2 free hands. Of course would take practice.. love your videos and your children are wonderful!! I love their enthusiasm, young boys convo and humor!!! Mine are 49 and 39 , I miss those years, continue to enjoy!!! I also enjoy when they take take turns behind the camera!
I'm surprised you don't use portable solar panels. They're light and inexpensive, but slow...
The train looked like it was doing a serpintine track, cool!! Oh, loved the cowmpie PCT, very creative!!
Li ed in SoCal for over 40 years, that is the BIGGEST rattlesnake i have ever seen!!!! I love the energy of young people!!
I love how you show the trail. And how you showed going through it. Also now I know why this waterfall isn’t always shown in PCT videos. Crater lake and this waterfall, plus Washington state are the whole reason I want to hike the PCT. One day maybe.
To answer your questions about the windmills: "The rotor hub height for the four City of Tehachapi turbines is 75 feet above ground level. The blades are 7 meters (or 23 feet) in length meaning the overall height of the turbines is just under 100 feet."
Was that a pavilion with fake grass, a doggy pee spot??
Great hike! 😊 loved the ice cream challenge so very cool and filling! 😎 you are all doing great. Yikes those bulls and the Bob wire! 🤯😱 Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to May when you update! Take care & God Bless you all. 🙏🎚️
Another great video of your trek. That was how many gallons of ice cream? I really enjoy watching the families exploits. Question again I have noticed that you all are not carrying tents maybe?
That was a full gallon between the 4 of them...after a huge brunch. 😳 we had a tent but only used it 1 night early on when it was a little buggy. We love that the AZT allows for cowboy camping!!
Amazing scenery!
I'm glad to see you guys back. I was a little worried that something had happened.
Thanks! All good - just busy and preparing for a few things so we will need to take a short break from posting and promise we'll resume and post the rest of the trail in May. We will update this via Instagram so hopefully ppl don't worry or get annoyed! We'll be back soon!
@@thefieldtrip Thanks. See you in May.
Thanks for the update, I was worried.
I feel like there’s going to be a full gallon challenge in the near future.😜
Wow, is that a challenge? Boys response, "I'd need more time" "I could do that!"
I've been binge watching your adventure all day. I was so glad to see the next episode of your epic journey. I plan to do it in 2025. What month did you start - any pros & cons?
Thank you! Glad to hear that it is helpful for others planning to hike! You will have an amazing adventure! Sorry about the delay. We are actually super busy right now and have to take a break. We will post the rest of the trail in May. In the meantime, we will post an update (soon) on instagram. Overall, we all loved the AZT. Good length - not too long or short. Diversity in nature. Very few bugs. Great weather - well, hot and cold but not rainy!! If you have specific questions, feel free to ask, and we'll get to them. Thanks for watching, and we'll be back soon!
I love watching your journey, but please try to learn to steady your phone while recording as well as panning and zooming more slowly. Practice at home. Your amazing journey can become a visual masterpiece with time, practice, and patience. I still think you should write a book as well.
Yes, thanks for the tips. I didn't even have stabilizing on. Oops. And yes, besides that, I will try to be more steady going forward. Unfortunately, for this trail, the videos are already recorded. Good feedback as we do more.
When I lived in AZ, I found one of those lizards in my clothes closet one morning. Terrified me. BTW, look into the Borah Gear bivy. Cowboy camping on the PCT, I found that it keeps my quilt clean and tear free, traps in heat, and blocks the wind. When I got caught in a light shower, it saved my quilt from getting wet. A little over 4 oz. Is well worth its weight and it has a built in bug net as well so you don’t need to set up your tent.
Thanks for the tip! We'll check that out.
You made my day! Relaxing before I hit the PCT again next week and was really hoping that you might have posted more videos. I really, really think you all should write a book about hiking as a family. You would inspire so many people.
Thank you! PCT, awesome! Sorry, We've got a few things going on and need to break from posting, BUT promise to finish posting the trail in May. Have a great hike!
Being a vet is a great career! I forgot which one of you said you wished you had a warmer sleeping bag. It’s not the bag, it’s that you need a nice warm air pad on top of the foammie. That makes a huge difference! Hope you all come back again one day to do the PCT again second time. Congrats on your triple crown! You all made an amazing team and I really enjoyed your videos.
Thank you, so much! Appreciate the kind words and tips and so glad you enjoyed watching. The boys left their thermarest xlite behind in exchange for less weight (I know, ounces). They're tough. Crazy!
27:25 Do you recall the mile marker at this location please? Thanks.
Think I got it. At the top of the Devil's Slide trail, you all went south back towards Apache Peak. So it appears, 27:25 is the Apache Peak Pass, infamous mile marker 169.5.
Keep posting your videos !
Thank you!
What flavor Talenti was that? Those containers are so useful.
Rattlesnakes ... Oh my ... I'm vicariously tagging along, and jumping more than normal ... Not overly fond of poisonous critters ...
Great hike today! WOW YIKES those snakes!! 🤯😳🤯😳. Pretty flowers 🌸 beautiful sky tonight God is good! Stay safe & Rest easy. 🏕️🧗♀️🥾🇺🇸
Your videos are better than reading a book! You have taken me places I would have never seen.😊. Love the yellow flowers. Wonder what they are called? 🤷♀️ love the kind people who help you along the way! Oh the stars last night day 11 were beautiful! God is good! Stay safe & cool & Hike On! 🙏🥾🏕️🧗♀️🌸
So glad you enjoy watching and traveling along! Thank you for the encouragement!
WOW what a great day! Started out with a wonderful breakfast and then a little R & R from the heat! 😊. Ended up rock climbing in the dark so very cool 😎. All great memories! Stay safe & Hike On. 🧗♀️🏕️🥾🙏🇺🇸
Is this being posted while on the azt
No, it was 2023. just getting around to posting videos.! We can not do it in real time while hiking at our desired pace and timeline. It takes too much time as well as reliable wifi, making it challenging on the go.
You guys have seen all sorts of reptiles. I went out in the Sonoran desert near Scottsdale. My boys and I did a loop and I was hoping to see all of the creatures you guys are seeing. You know what? I didn't see squat!! I hope to get back out to Arizona some day. It is one of my favorite states of all of them. Hike on!
We know what you mean...we thought we'd see lots more wildlife on certain hikes and didn't. But yes, our time on the AZT had a bit of action, especially the snakes! We are planning a return to AZ!!
Every post makes me a little jealous. One of my favorite things about living in AZ was being in places where the evidence of man/civilization was minimal. I loved being able to see for miles and miles and feel like I was in some prehistoric land. I hope the snow and rim situations work themselves out for you. Fingers crossed!
Love your videos. Love your videos more than most the junk on television. Keep hiking your little hearts out.
Thank you. So glad you enjoy watching.
agreed!
This is not this year hike correct?
Correct. 2023.
Very cool!!
Wish I could watch your journey but I’ve watch as much as I can. Your videos are too choppy and move for views too quick that my vertigo and dizziness kicks in. I wish you and your family the best journey ever and I hope you succeed. Good luck and best wishes. 😕
I'm so sorry! But thank you. Just hikers trying to capture the experience (as opposed to youtubers using hiking for content). Unfortunately, it is low quality, and there's much to learn about videography. I hope you are well.
@@thefieldtripAs an amazing home school teacher/mom, I know you and your boys can master the cinematography like you have done everything else. I taught photography for years and have 2 film school degrees, but I learned the most from just going out and shooting photos and recording. Like you, the hiking takes priority over the filming. Maybe have each of your boys shoot some footage and edit a documentary afterward and submit it to a film festival as a goal. Or have a gallery showing of your photos and talk about your experience. You all have something worth saying and showing to the world.
I think it’s the phone, the other videos weren’t choppy. I think she got a new phone at the beginning of this hike so probably there is a diff setting or something. Maybe slowing the video down to a 0.5 would help your vertigo?
Man, parent-wise these are 4 of the luckiest young guys on the planet. I'm sure they get that already but it's really going to hit them in a few years. Thanks again for the videos. They always make me miss my home state..
Thank you!
You'll have great memories to reflect back on when you get to be my age. The adventures you're going on with your sons, as a family, are priceless
Thank you!
Keep the videos coming!
You guys do know the critters, rattlesnakes, coral snakes, coyotes, mountain lions, etc. all come out at night. Watch your feet and legs.
Oh man, the scorpion! I just got stung the day before yesterday doing work in the garden here in Texas. ouch! We watched that scorpion on the video stab that bug over and over again and I personally cringed in both horror and fascination. Then we rewound it and watched it again, about 4 times! That was amazing and better than any scorpion video I've ever seen, even on National Geographic! wow, excellent capture and not anything you would have seen if you were not out there experiencing life in the moment!
Oh my, you make it sound common to get stung by them? I guess you're ok! Horror and fascination...yes! Glad you enjoyed it!
@@thefieldtrip first of the season, but not my first ever, no! Fairly common in SE Texas. It was a wee little sting on the tip of my finger, I should have been wearing gloves. Early season lesson will hold me through at least till next year I'm sure!
I love the comment… I would love to be a bird 🦅 right now 🌵 ☀️
