As an AZ boy transplanted to the Midwest, this video almost brought tears to my eyes. Arizona is such a cool, varied and beautiful place. Man, I miss it. Also, the gila monster reminded me of one of the funniest things i ever saw.

When I lived in AZ, I found one of those lizards in my clothes closet one morning. Terrified me. BTW, look into the Borah Gear bivy. Cowboy camping on the PCT, I found that it keeps my quilt clean and tear free, traps in heat, and blocks the wind. When I got caught in a light shower, it saved my quilt from getting wet. A little over 4 oz. Is well worth its weight and it has a built in bug net as well so you don’t need to set up your tent.

You were fortunate to see that Gila monster. I lived in Southwestern NM for eight years and never saw one.

We've heard it isn't common to spot one. It was really neat to see!

Non-potable water at Manning Camp, eh? So ... basically like all the water on trail? LOL
