Discovered you yesterday, binge watched EVERYTHING. And I'm not even a Stardew player (yet).

Agreement regarding the 10 hearts scene. It would read totally differently if the choice said something like "Offer a kiss". Something that doesn't read as pushy. The way it's written, the result is just kind of frustrating. I'm watching all of your videos while drawing, really enjoying your thoughtful analyses on these characters! Your enthusiasm is coming through, plus it's giving me an update on how these heart scenes were changed/elaborated on since way back when I played the game. <3

I think MAYBE, in just this small part of the 2-heart event, losing points with Penny is realistic. Sometimes doing what is right is not doing what is popular. But I do agree with all the rest. It would not have taken long at all for the developer to change Georges response. Have him apologize for his tone maybe, but also say.. i dunno.. Always ask if I need help. (I am not a writer and english is not my first language. )

Penny of all characters having dialouge referencing the game mechanic to remove your kids (turning them into birds via the witch's hut) feels so ominous but also deliberate. I don't think any character talks about having kids except for Penny, or at least nowhere near to the same extent. It gives so many dark implications that I kinda love, ngl. Also I gotta say, Penny looks so much cuter in her front-facing portrait.

Front-facing Penny will forever haunt me.

The scene with George made me actively dislike Penny, so I didn’t explore any more gameplay with her. I have very black and white thinking on the subject due to my experience working in care, so I was disappointed by ConcernedApe’s response as to me it showed a lack of depth and empathy. A mobility aid is universally considered an extension of the users’ body, and even very little research on the subject should have elicited a much more caring response.

Inhale been to book readings. Even at readings from authors like Markus Heitz with very anticipated books, most people leave asap as the readings comes to an end. I always thought that the people left after the reading, not during the reading and that we maybe the player talks to Elliot after he already talked to people after the reading and a good few minutes had passed. It’s a small town, so the locals wouldn’t leave and be rude possibly and just sit it out, no matter if they like it or not.

Tbh I think personally my hangup with Demetrius is that he reminds me of my own childhood experiences. I had a stepfather who would often put me down and prop his own children up. Its a painful experience to know that you are the less preferred child, and it hurts to see someone inflicting that on someone they're supposed to love just as much as their own children. Looking at Demetrius objectively, i do think he is probably on the spectrum and has a lot of issues with communication that ends up alienating Sebastian. He doesnt really understand Sebastian, so he tends to avoid him. However, having autism myself, I have to say that its no excuse to treat people like that.

this video was in my recommended since it came out basically, but my cat passed a couple days ago and i needed a long video like this while my boyfriend is at work. seeing the kitty in the first part of the video felt like i made the right decision. they looked super similar as well. thank you for keeping me company

hi there! i don't normally comment on youtube videos of any sort but i just wanted to give you so much credit for diving not only into racism but also, maru and demetrius' relationship. i love love love maru and will defend her with my life! but also, i love demetrius as a father and as an npc. he reminds me a lot of my own dad. i'm also biracial (black dad, white mom, just like maru!) he was just as protective of me when i was little. that scene with maru didn't rub me the wrong way, it made me, personally, feel seen. i agree that people give him a harder time because of racism and assumptions they're projecting onto him... also, i kinda feel weird marrying maru bc we're so similar but she is seriously slept on fr. big agree there.

The Flower Dance festival really reminds me of the midsummer holiday we have in Sweden (no, it's not like the movie Midsommar). A tradition for the holiday is people dancing around a pillar completely covered in leaves and flowers, called a midsommarstång. And a big part of it is the food as well.

I really don't agree that losing friendship points with Penny is a negative thing gameplay wise. Not only does it make sense for her character, but you also *gain* points with George. And just like in real life, making a friend angry doesn't automatically make you not friends anymore; maintaining your friendship with Penny afterwards just makes the entire friendship feel more real and rewarding. The only people who I think would pick the pro-Penny option solely because of gameplay reward are most likely not going to care about the dialogue at all, let alone the moral implications of it; They're probably min-maxing or doing some kind of challenge run.

I have a theory as to why Penny may like sandfish, maybe when Pam used to run the bus the sandfish was a good memory of Pam bringing back a sandfish for her to eat, we can see evidence of Pam partaking in the winter festival and is quite ambitious as she says “I plan on winning the ice fishing competition! Willy is gonna be pretty hard to beat, though... He does this kinda stuff day and night.”, I can infer that she doesn't do this regularly but maybe she did this on her breaks while running the bus, showing she has the experience and can do quite well at fishing, as Stardew Wiki states its a 65 difficulty.

I always imagined Harvey was this amazing Grey's anatomy surgeon, and he lost a patient which affected him so deeply that he quit his job and moved to town to be a GP because he didn't want to go through anything like that again.

On paper, I should like Penny. We both like reading, we’re quiet/shy, and we both like kids and want to start a family eventually. I don’t know what it is, but she just doesn’t work for me. I find her dull but not unpleasant. I’m neutral towards her, if not a little bit disappointed that I don’t find her more interesting. I think that since you can’t see her story as she’s experiencing it she tends to feel very passive and drifty. I’d read her story as a book written in the first-person, but being outside of it makes it fall flat for me.

I genuinely always marry penny because her parts make so sad like every time. I feel like i need to save her😂

I work at a hospital and the scene with George is SO CRINGE. I've had patients intervene and try to help other patients, and it's gone well maybe once? Patient confidentiality exists for a REASON, people outside of direct patient care should not feel obligated to attempt to help other patients or intervene in their care. It's a burden on them, interferes with confidentiality, undermines trust in staff, and also frequently doesn't go well. This isn't to say it's always bad, but it just makes me feel bad for everyone in the situation. Harvey, why didn't you put a sign on the door saying you're doing a checkup??? Someone could just wander in there????? Also, sidenote, but frequently medical staff tries to do checkups w/o family present, just in case there's domestic abuse happening. Obviously George isn't being abused but it's still good to allow him to do this checkup in private, both to make ABSOLUTELY certain that there's no abuse going on and for his own comfort. George as a disabled elder is uniquely vulnerable to potential abuse, which Harvey should be aware of and should be checking for, just in case. WHY ARE YOU DOING THE CHECKUP IN THE LIVING ROOM??? What if Alex or Evelyn wander in when Harvey's asking questions about elder abuse? He isn't being abused, but if he WAS, this could be legitimately dangerous for George. For the love of God Harvey do the checkup in George's room and lock the door. Put a sign up saying you're busy in there while you're at it. Don't do it in a space where anyone in town could wander in and hear!!!

I was just looking for some long form content on subjects/games I don't know much about, but I think I found GOLD! My reccs gave me your latest video, but I always love watching a video series from the beginning to see the creator's evolution. My next couple of days will definitely be engaging, I might even restart SV to experience these romances myself😊 Edit: having fully watched the video now and just...oh? my God??? Maybe I'm a huge softie but I was almost tearing up throughout MULTIPLE parts of the video 😭 Learning to accept your own queerness, the healing from childhood trauma, hoping people talk to you because of loneliness. I’d say Maru is probably around 20 and Sebastian is probably around 23. Sebastian seems like he’s been working online for a while but regrets not going to college and having a more secure job, which would make sense since any friends he has from the city(where he can go because of his motorcycle) have probably graduated within the last year. Sebastian can’t be too old because he, Abigail, and Sam have all grown up as close friends. Edit: Maru has be around 20 in order to be qualified for all the work she does, but if she’s just a CNA she could be as young as 18(so the player isn’t a pedophile)

Blows my mind that there are actually people with zero experience with alcoholism. In my lived experience everyone I know has at least one parent who has an addiction or a history of addiction. It’s so prevalent I forget that it’s not a universal experience.

Hear me out: I think it’s perfectly fine for the player to lose friendship points with Penny when you stick up for George for one reason: it’s realistic. If you stick up for a marginalized community, you may suffer social consequences. It’s worth it to do what’s right, regardless of how it affects your social life. That’s a great lesson for everyone to learn.

I feel like when you say the game is reprimanding you for making a certain choice isn’t really the game or the developers true thoughts of the matter, for both Harvey and penny if you don’t take their side they would be upset with you, I don’t think the intention was to say “yes penny is in the right” but rather penny is slightly upset that you didn’t stick up for her, it’s pennys friendship meter going down because penny didn’t like your response, not necessarily the games message. That’s just my thoughts however, I loved the video and have been binge watching all of them, keep up the amazing work!

I always loved Penny so much, bc i relate to her main themes so so much... which made me never want to date her, bc like i wouldnt want to date me (not in a self-deprecating way, just in a i want balance in my relationships way)... i kinda thought she was boring, but i realised that i thought that, bc i KNOW her so well, bc she is so much like me... I can appreciate her and her arc a whole lot more now! thank you! also i think you portrayed these themes very well! edit: also married shane in my first playthrough which really is telling
