I had a 2004 MSM with the FM goodies10 years ago. What a beast! Other than the ridiculously low gearing (how fast can you shift?) it was amazing. Built by the "big guys" at FM too.

Love your channel! I had a ‘92 Miata that I bought in 1997. Changed out the shocks, springs, tires, wheels, and brakes. I was planning to paint it and start tackling engine mods when I sold it in 2003 because my wife and I had twins. Now they are getting close to graduating from college and I’m tired of driving my Jeep for the last 12 years. So I’m looking at Miata’s again. And I think the NC’s are my favorite. I hope I don’t have to wait too long to enjoy Miata’s again!

This describes the demographic of owners / models very well. Nc/nd buyers have money. NA is a hit and miss. Either no money or it’s got 15k miles and is pristine. Majority of NB owners are broke. Except maybe the Mazdaspeed boys. It’s not fair to hop out of a budget stock NB where cost was the main purchase decision and into an engine swapped throw a bunch of money at parts NC. NA is the best Miata but worst car. Nd is the best car but worst Miata. NB is a more complete NA. NC is a more analogue ND.

My Miata was the NA Mariner Blue with the tri-spoke wheels. I bought it on July 16, 1989. It was built on 1 - 2 June, 1989 and is the 7, 028th one made. I had to replace the BF Goodrich tires when I got back to Prescott, AZ; unfortunately BF Goodrich no longer makes the tires to fit my wheels so I ended up going with Vredestein Quatracs.

Realistically none of those mods you said will ever get done! 😂

Plasidip comes off really easily if you let a citrus based degreaser set on there, I believe goo gone automotive works really well.

I miss my NA but I don't miss 5k rpm on the freeway and all the noise. 20 year old me was totally cool with it though ha ha

it’s funny that so many people like the pop ups. I hated them when the first generation came out and refused to buy my first MX5 until the NB came out. I’ve come to tolerate the pop ups (I like the sleepy eye mod best) but I still much prefer my NC2 PRHT in particular because I am an adult male sized human

NC1s have a multitude of problems the other ones don’t have. Including the vvt actuator rattle of death, engine failure, etc. Never ever buy an NC1- someone with a 2007 MX-5

I always laugh at the fact that dodge can produce an emissions compliant engine with over 700 horsepower, and there are so many 200 +/- 50 hp cars that are removing cats for 5 more horsepower.

I've always loved the styling of the NC Miata. When I got my 2020 ND2, I was honestly torn between getting an NC2 or NC3 or going for a brand new ND2. I miss my Miata every day.

Nc1 just gives Austin the excuse to 2.5 swap it later =P I love the Nc1 with bumper cut, or the nc3 the most for looks, I had an NC2 SE, but you really cant go wrong with a tastefully modified NC of any sub generation!

Great vid! Is it necessary to relocate the O2 bung if your tuning a completely stock NC2 or is that because you had already installed an aftermarket header?

IMO the NC SE is the best looking Miata. Especially the yellow one the Canadians got.

Header. The stock manifold is so crushed at the collector it's shocking. A good header just wakes the car up.

Have you ever heard of an auto parts store or a muffler shop? They really do have everything you need.........and, If it's something you will do in a week or two, try rock auto.......no? Plus you're supporting your local stores.

11:08 In fact, I drive a 1998 NB, but the European 1.6 that was never sold in the US. It is heavier than the NA and has a bit less power due to the catalytic converter... so... it is therefore one of the slowest Miatas ever built 💪(just the automatic NA/NB and the European 90 hp NA are slower).

I have a 2011 kendo, 5 speed, prht in mica black, light grey leather. 44,000 miles. It's almost perfect, upgrade will be a bbr 200 tune kit, hopefully in the next few months. Love my MX5, will never sell it. Good hunting. John

My understanding was that the Ford fusion was a copy of the mazda6. But nobody ever mentions a Mazda 6 swap. They always say a fusion 2.5 swap. Is the mazda6 engine different or would that work as well?

Pretty useful video, especially when I'm looking at cars to buy as my first, and the NC is high on the list. There's a pretty tempting '08 NC PRHT Grand Touring I have my eyes on; black exterior and dark brown interior, with 96K miles. Looks well maintained with the only big modification listed being KW coilovers (which I'd probably put in after a while anyway).

I have an NC1 Sport 6-speed. Bought it bone stock with 159k miles for $5900. Had it since March of this year and have done a few things to it already. Long term plan is to K swap it.

I’ve had both a 2008 NC Grand touring with a soft top and my current 2008 Grand touring PRHT. The hard top is definitely easier to live with on a daily basis. Both cars are bad for blind spots but the soft top is worse. I have the heated leather seats and I love them.

Your friends 2011 is sparkling black mica. Same as mine. Definitely a rare but beautiful color by mazda.

I owned an 08 Miata for 10 years and it was a great, reliable car in Texas.

Hard to go wrong here! For taller drivers, the non height adjustable seats in the NC1 sit a bit lower. The Jass brackets are nice for even more headroom / helmet clearance too.

I have a 2006 NC1 Sport with 6mt and LSD here in Southern California I have been considering selling (videos on my channel). FM springs/Koni Adjustable shocks + GWR roadstersport sway bars, AutoExe induction box, and virtually stock otherwise with ~93,000 miles. Been a great second/weekend/autoX car since I bought it in 2013 (I am second owner). I'm getting older and not driving it much anymore, I'm realizing I want to go down to a more comfortable one-car solution now. Considering selling it since I hardly grab the keys anymore, and don't drive often anyways. Sentimental value keeps me from listing it on the various marketplaces though. Would love to find someone who would enjoy it as much as I have.

I have an 06 NC1 soft top. Only thing I regret is: no AC. I don't like the looks of the PRHT. Were I to want a hard top, I prefer the look of the aftermarket hard tops.

So just so anyone from the UK is aware, MX5 Things who supply these want £50 for shipping! You think you're getting a good deal for £142 and then they try and rinse you on the shipping charge! I'm going to pay more and get the Smarttop version as you'll get a local supplier and warranty and not have to get stung on shipping if it goes wrong!

Soft top and heated seats is the best. Also I will judge you if you buy in automatic miata unless you have some unreal reason. Better be missing a limb.

LOVE my 2008 PRHT, Grand Touring, Blue Mica, Tan leather, Koni sports, H&R progressive lowering springs. Sick car to drive.
