I bought a ND a couple of months ago after refusing to even give it consideration for the last 8 years. I’m ashamed I waited so long. If you’re car enthusiast, you’ll understand why this car is so good after the first couple of minutes driving it. Congrats. ✌️
Miata’s are regularly clowned on only by people that haven’t driven them. It’s the most fun car that I’ve ever owned. I’ll have to get another some day.
Had a 2019 for 3 years, sold it to try a couple other cars , last one was a 2018 Fiesta ST . It was super fun but you always know you’re in a econobox. Miata is pure sports car. That’s why I’m back in a 2023 Miata Grand touring now! Definitely need an exhaust! Can’t believe the last owner didn’t touch the exhaust. Actually I think this car is great with just an axle back. My 2019 had a Borla my 2023 I went with Goodwin racing’s race exhaust. Both sound great Goodwin is cheaper has less drone on the highway plus has an optional baffle insert which quiets it down a little but still sounds great when you get on it.
I’ve got the same car (2018) stock (Same color body & top etc). My shock coil are black. Agreed that its a lot of fun drive. If it’s was not for my wife who love it too. I would lower the driver seat as I’m 6’ 1”. Note it is 3rd car and parked for the winter months(we live in Maine) enjoy it!!
Definitely looks lowered. There's a brand called whiteline lowering springs that are silver colored. About a 30mm drop in front I guess. Seats also look lowered. Enjoy your new ride.
When the transmission goes, install the NC transmission. There is a company that sells the adapter plate. Some Spec ND Miatas are running NC transmissions. Aside from the adapter plate, it also requires hammering the transmission tunnel to make it fit. I recommend Ohlins suspension.
I have a 2016 ND Miata club with the bbs bramble package I bought used with a ND2 short throw gearbox. Same paint as yours. I am selling my NA Miata because I love driving my newer one. Mazda really improved this newer model. It is now my daily driver.
I am currently team NC but the best things you can do are what you already have in your cart. Better brakes, and sway bars. See if you can identify what is actually on your car for springs and if you can't, go with a known quantity as the budget allows. I am not familiar personally with the Bilstein shocks and went with the adjustable Koni and FM springs so if there is any doubt about what is on your car, you might think about them. Also get in the FM knowledge base and pull the alignment specs for the ND and take them to a trusted alignment tech after you get all the new stuff on. I was amazed on how snappy the handling was after doing all that and as they say, I see no adverse tire wear from it.
Definitely something to look into since this car is direct injection would be an oil catch can to catch any blow by. I’m planning on doing this to my 23 club. I plan on keeping mine for a while as well.
Get leather for the brake and shifter boots from Redline Goods, they also have the red stitching. I did, and added the foam and leather to the console lid (keeps me from accidentally hitting the Display dial). With a custom steering wheel added, it really upscales the interior.
I have a Perl white 2016 NT GT Miata. Love the look of your red top Club and all the modifications are great, with the exception to the stubby antenna. I love the look of the original antenna, makes it look like a RC car. All your lights have been replaced with LED's they are available either smoked or white clear which is what I have.
Those look like progress lowering springs!!! Also, please note that if you go very fast frequently, you will eventually damage your front bumper due to the additional support the standard front grille has by containing a built in cross-member now being gone. Again this only occurs if you go very fast frequently and over time, but it has a storied history of occurring! beautiful car, I love that color combination!
ND Miatas are so fun! I'd recommend Megachip splash guards, carried by Flyin' Miata. They are sleek and cut down heavily on rock chips on the fenders and bumper.
I have a 2016 ND Club soft top with the Brembo / BBS package. My springs are Black in color but I know Mazda kept changing things including the damping rate on the Bilstein shocks - 2017 ? Also the transmission had improvements made each year improve reliability. All the way to 2019 when the new 181 HP ND2 was born with a better dampening flywheel. Your 2018 Club I suspect does not have the OEM transmission oil which causes it to not go into 1st gear easily. I would change out that transmission fluid for the OEM Mazda juice to get it shifting like it should again. It takes about 2.2 quarts so you need to buy 3 quarts & its not cheap stuff ! I went to Harbor Freight bought a transmission fluid pump ( $ 20 ) & a open end 20 mm thru 24 mm wrench set. I believe both the transmission drain plug is 24mm same as the fill plug - don't forget the 2 replacement crush washers. BTW the Bilstein shocks should be Yellow in color. What I added as mods are the Flying Miata Hush O Matic ( I know ) active exhaust with the Butterfly valve to make it sound better. The other mod I added was a Verus Engineering Air Oil Seperator ( fancy oil catch can ). The people who added a Supercharger took off the intake & the carbon buildup on the intake valves was enough to make me install that AOS from Verus Engineering. Power adding ? I wouldn't do it. It takes Big $$$$ to do it right with an NC transmission & adding more cooling. The thing to keep in mind about POWER in your ND1 is this car was designed for the 1.5 Liter engine used in Europe which only had 128 HP. The 2.0 Liter engine we have with 155 HP is mated to THAT same transmission ! So the people adding turbo's or Superchargers found out that the ND1 transmission could not handle those upgrades the hard way ! Failed transmissions. The early 2016 MX-5s had transmission issues even without adding FI . So Mazda replaced a bunch of early transmission failures in the ND1 cars. Mazda has replaced transmissions even though the cars were being tracked - under warranty. If you want more info on your car the Miata.net has a ND / ND2 Board for owners to post on. Its a great place to get info on the cars we drive.
Sorry to respond so late but thank you for all the impressive info! I actually don’t mind the issue getting into first if the cause is a slightly thicker oil in the trans. From what I’ve read long term reliability should be better with that. I looked up my VIN and my car does have a “good” transmission but like you said they are still pretty weak. As I mentioned in the video I have 0 desire to try to boost this car or any other power mods. Even a simple E85 tune is too much risk for too little reward.

Having had many other performance cars ive never been particularly interested in getting any mx5,that is until the rf came along, if it was unbadged people would wonder if it were a lotus, porsche,or other baby super car The thing is utterly stunning I'm trying to convince myself to NOT get one & and give it the supercharged treatment to scare super car owners 😁
Can anyone confirm if they fixed the trans issues with the ND2? From my understanding they did improve it but idk if it’s a permanent and we’ll done solutions. Seems like ND2 owners don’t complain but I don’t know haha

A TSX wagon and a GX. Love the garage, man! Also, it's def lowered.

30mm looks about right for the amount of drop we were seeing, thanks for the info!
This is by far the most encouraging answer I’ve had to this question! Thanks for watching and answering!
Yeah, definitely lowered .

I also own a Fiesta ST and I'm shoping for an NC Miata. I plan to keep the ST though.
I thought I was gonna keep the ST too
My same choice, this is the best low budget combo
that car is lowered, you will love that car and that seat is lower!! love the mods on it though.

I don't believe that support needs to be removed to install the spyder grille. It can be cut and left in place with the new grille.
this was a great video!

It also appears to have aftermarket door bushings.
Ah good catch!
Those are progress lowering springs. Pretty much the same rate as stock so you bottom out way more with them

I also bought this car from superior! It’s been to eureka a few times already. Need to get it out on the pig trail next.
@@jsiegel414 I bought mine from a Tyson executive it had 10,000 miles on it when I got it
I believe Progress Springs are grey, but I’m An NC owner so not sure about ND mods.
Definitely lowered on progressive springs, appears to have paco Motorsport lowering bracket for the seat
I own nd2 rf gt manual and gr86 let me tell you it’s very hard to choose which one I’ll drive to work 😂
Having had many other performance cars ive never been particularly interested in getting any mx5,that is until the rf came along, if it was unbadged people would wonder if it were a lotus, porsche,or other baby super car
The thing is utterly stunning
I'm trying to convince myself to NOT get one & and give it the supercharged treatment to scare super car owners 😁
The shifter looks stock to me.
This car will be a classic. Especially with all other cars going EV. my advice is leave it alone if you want it to hold its value. Just my advice 😊
Just turbo it, i got an nc 3.75 25th ae 375bhp, best fun ever!!!!!
I just got a club ND two weeks ago. Your ND is setting lower than mine, for sure.
Your seats have defiantly been lowered. something I need to do, being 6' 1".
Can anyone confirm if they fixed the trans issues with the ND2? From my understanding they did improve it but idk if it’s a permanent and we’ll done solutions. Seems like ND2 owners don’t complain but I don’t know haha
Those are NOT stock springs. Stock are black and less coils/turns of metal
THISSS
Plastic dip the emblems black
I for sure need to do that as well
It would be a big shock if Mazda discontinue the Miata core values.. what i mean if they switch it over to hybrid or EVs 🥲
