Years That Needed College Football Playoffs
EXCLUSIVE PATREON VIDEO
TOP 9 TEAMS SO CLOSE IN 2007 COLLEGE FOOTBALL SEASON
www.patreon.com/WrongedSports
With the new 12 team playoff kicking off this year we will finally get the playoff system all college football fans have been begging for, for a CENTURY!
Since I like to look back on years in college football I'm going to find the years in college football where a 4 team, 6 team, or 8 teams more had a legit argument for getting into a college football playoff. This is obviously all fantasy so I'm not caring about conference tie-ins or anything, its all just putting together the teams that should've been in a college football playoff

    Certainly 07 was an interesting season for Michigan. Starting the season ranked 5 or 6 then losing to a 1AA team followed by being blown out vs oregon. They ended up beating a Tebow lead florida team in the Citrus. There was drama with Lloyds retirement too. He wanted to name his successor. Then you had a situation where Michigan wanted to hire Les Miles and it's of my opinion he wanted to take the job, but LSU made the national title game. LSU then forced Les to sign an extension in order to coach in the national title game. The season was crazy.

    As a matter of pure unexpected luck, I found myself in New Orleans on the day of the championship game. I bought an LSU shirt and joined the fun. The roar of the crowd as it migrated from The Quarter to the Dome was louder than a jet on takeoff. Great Time.

    I remember the UT Kentucky game, we blew a MASSIVE lead, the overtime periods were insane That was a horribly flip floppy season for us, it was when Fulmer had lost the locker room - next season was truly his end The LSU SEC title game was absolute garbage, terrible holding call on the opposite side of the field brought back a HUGE TD which would have absolutely changed the trajectory of the game LOVE THESE VIDEOS

    Re 1966 ND/MSU-The NCAA/ABC had already decided to broadcast Tennessee/Kentucky in the SEC footprint (with Red Barber at the mike) But, even in SEC country-there was HEAVY interest in the game in East Lansing-so the NCAA and ABC came up with a compromise, where ND/MSU would air in its entirety after UT/UK

    Reason that ABC made the switch for Arkansas/Texas from mid-October to December: Beano Cook (yes, him) was working as a liason between the NCAA and ABC after being fired as Pitt's SID-and had a gut feeling that the game could be HUGE, but also knew that they faced competition from potential World Series broadcasts on NBC (remember the WS had all day games back then) So, Beano urged ABC and Arkansas to make the December date

    Wisconsin ran a minute short of completing the greatest bowl comeback ever. Most people there swear that with one more minute, they’d have won. Southern California won it ingloriously, being outscored 23-0 toward the end, and choosing a safety rather than punting from deep. The Badgers didn’t return to the Rose Bowl for 31 years, but when they did, they won three of them between ‘94 and 2000.

    • @ericc2083
      @ericc2083 22 дня назад

      They didn't "choose" a safety. The center snapped the ball over the punter's head. Perhaps if Wes-can-son would have played better in the first 3 quarters, they might have had a chance. Regardless, SC was the better team and proved it.

    10:23 A really big thing that happened around this time that gets glossed over in this video is SMU getting the NCAA death penalty for repeat violations during the '80s (a decade where they were actually one of the prominent teams in their conference). This situation contributed quite strongly to the fall of the SWC. At this time, SMU isn't even in a power conference.

    As a lifelong Rebel fan, 1960 will always put me in a bad mood. Ole Miss was the best team in the nation, but there was significant bias against southern teams, especially a small school in a small town like Oxford, MS. The Rebs were undefeated, yet lost out to a team with one loss. The sportswriters assn gave the natty to Ole Miss that year, iirc.

  • @corym8358

    You are wrong about the 1959 Ole Miss-LSU game score. Final score was 7-3, not 3-0. The 7 points was the TD from Billy Cannon's famous punt return. Then Ole Miss crushed them 21-0 in the rematch in the Sugar Bowl.
