Hi, The room looks so much lighter. Not as in more daylight, but as nor weighing down as much. This might be a difference in culture, so no disparagement intended (funny how you can remember some large words, but for the ordinary smaller synonyme escapes you. You just witnessed one of those. English isn't my first language). Around my nook of the geography, there is a not doing any freshen up walls without painting the ceiling too. All the manky paint, the staining from sun damage, the yellowing from years being lived in, and dead carcases of mosquitos passed, would show against the sparkling new everything else in the room. We would only paint the ceiling white, unless there is a tenager in that room. Keep the tenager happy and repaint when they have moved out, or outgrows the purple or black ceiling themself and they can pay for the paint. I know you did paint the ceiling in the kitchen, but you don't mention it here. Do you have the same cultural pressure on painting ceilings too? (Well, I think I might know how to spell ceiling now, say's the slightly dyslexic here Yours, Ann

Great choice with the chunkier trim! And that's such a pretty warm white...what a difference! It's really looking cozy and cared for. 😊

Technically "Palais" would be pronounced pal-lay, but I don't think it matters--especially because it translates to palace, anyway! It all looks gorgeous and makes the room so bright! I've been loving following these updates and seeing everything come together. It helps me feel motivated to do all the things on our punch list, too! ETA: For filling your nail holes, strongly recommend using wood filler rather than spackle--you should be able to find plastiwood or similar in white, but just be sure to get one that's paintable. Filler will look better in the long term and if/when you need to paint again, future you will thank you. Also strongly recommend caulking (flush) around the trim in areas where there are gaps between the trim and the wall. For one thing, it'll help with air leaks and your overall insulation, but it also closes off areas where dust and grime collect and bugs like spiders and other pests like to make their homes. It's one of those tiny things that you won't actively notice but makes your life easier and improves the space overall. Can't wait to see how it all turns out!

I remember living in a house as a child with the window trim made the same way except the corners to the 1 by 2's were rounded at the bottom. I'm not sure about the top as I was a child. They could have been.

I love your trim detail. E we did butt corners for our floor trim rather than miter, it’s so much easier and no one sees those inside corners either. Enjoying this series so much.

So cool! One tip I would give you is to get roller blade type wheels for your sewing chair. Way less issue with threads getting wrapped around their wheels and they are rubber so less damage to wood floors. They move so smoothly even on low pile carpet.

From my house remodel with stained trim/windows like those, we had to use Kilz as primer over stained piece. The stain was ‘bleeding’ thru regular primer.
