    floor vent redirect : even though it looked like you used heavy duty tape to hold it down, if in the future, the floor is flooded for some reason the tape may get wet and unstick from the floor so, maybe staple the tape in several places to hold it down so that in the future you won't start air conditioning the bottom of the cabinets!

    Soooo dang proud of you, Casey. It’s really not that different from sewing, is it? It’s all construction…the fitting and finishing takes the longest. Great idea to start a home channel, I’m coming along for the ride. 😊❤

    I hope you’re settling in your new home in areas already done and taking care of yourselves in the meantime… taking time to rest and heal when you need to. You’re lifting some heavy weight from awkward positions. I am sure you’re looking forward to the day when you get to live in and use your newly renovated kitchen and not just build it! You’re doing an amazing job, and I am impressed with the collection of power tools! 👍🏻

    In some ways, building the cabinets boxes seems like the easy part. Because then comes installation, cauling, painting, drilling for hardware. Oh, and building drawers. But one step at a time will get there. Pretty creative solution to build taller trim on the top of the upper cabinets in order to add trim later. Look forward to the rest of the kitchen series.

    You are so inspiring! I love the air duct solution. However, I might think about trying to have an access point in the bottom of cabinet in case you ever have to replace that plastic. If that vent blows heat as well as A/C, it could eventually degrade since your are basically enclosing it. Maybe not for a long time though. Just a thought...someone else may have mentioned it. Either way, Girl Power!!! You rock!

    If its any consolation, I have heard professional cabinet makers say the only way to do inset cabinets is to build and cut them slightly large and then scribe each one into its spot, so it seems you're following a tried and true method to fit those uppers into not square space.

    When we first moved out to the country we were surprised at all of the different animal sounds we heard. From lowing cows, braying donkeys, migrating ducks, frogs, and my favorite: the barred owl. We had a friend stay the night and he said he couldn't sleep with all the animal noises because he was used to all the city noises.

    I have a toe kick vent in my kitchen, right in front of the sink. When the heat kicks on in the winter, it blows cold air out onto my feet. I asked the furnace repairman about it. He said that there's usually no vent pipe from the floor to the toe kick vent. The cabinet bottom is enclosed so it functions as a duct. But the cold air under the cabinet is forced out first before the heat hits. Sewing fan but I like the new channel too. Hubs and I did the same 20 years ago.

    Hi, So I found your everything home and interior improvement Chanel. I'm still in awe of all the things you do that look very easy for you. When you're done with your house, can you come to our home and make it nice? Only if you feel like it, of course
    Where did you get that knowledge of being competent enough to do all these things. Drilling the right length of something, calculating something in the knowledge that you will finnish, and not throwing something hard at a dumb thing that you made, that the cooker will fit the gap between those two cabinets you just made... I can go on. It's fascinating.
    About the turkeys. You could have Thanksgiving dinner, if they are bothering you😉🙂😎☺. Or you can have Thanksgiving and tell everybody and make it vegetarian in liù of your next doors neighbours
    What miracles will you come up with next, I wonder? Yours, Ann

    Congratulations on your new dedicated home renovation channel! Your energy level is amazing! Just returned from family vacation, so I down for a quick breakfast while unpacking/doing laundry and there you were.😂 The “not square” issue you’re having is probably pretty typical in old homes. The foundations and wall materials have settled and contracted/expanded during various weather conditions over the years and were originally manufactured/man made, so it’s probably to be expected? Also, the earth beneath the foundation itself shifts, though we’re usually unaware. 😊

    Just a bit worried that you could get mold under the cabinet with the wood subfloor acting as the side of the air vent. Wood and moisture = mold. Perhaps lay your metal ducting down flat to protect the wood, then lay the plastic over top, and tape.

    You go!! Question: What tool did you use to trim your expanding foam flat against the wall?? I have been hardening our home after we had an energy audit done, and have used some of the expanding foam to seal off big gaps that were major air leaks. I was using a hack saw blade because they are thin, but I have to bend it to avoid scraping my knuckles, so it doesn't look great...yours looks perfectly flat. I need to go back over mine with whatever cutting tool you used!

    • @PatternScoutHome
      @PatternScoutHome  2 месяца назад

      I used a mini hack saw, but I really wish I had one of those Japanese hand saws that can saw flat, because I had the same issue. Everywhere I've used it so far will be covered with trim, thankfully!
