Merry Christmas Casey to you and Alan in your new home! I pray that blessings will be heaped upon you both and that this new adventure continues to bring you joy!
I’ve just completely binge watched all your home renovations after looking for a video on re-covering a sofa 😂. You are an absolute inspiration. I’ve loved every one of the videos I’ve watched so far and can’t wait to see the next instalment. You’ve turned that property completely on its head. It looks amazing. Wishing you and hubby all the best for the festive season from the UK 🇬🇧. Take time to enjoy what you’ve done so far….you’ve definitely earned it. Now to binge watched your sewing videos 😂❤
Beautiful! You know that this is very organized because you are a pattern designer and sewist! We can do the necessary math and puzzles! Looking fantastic! You are moving along.
All these years as a millwork enthusiast and i didn't know those things were called plinths! We live in a circa 1900 building and it has plinths with circles at the top and bottom doorway corners. I LOVE the way the trim work makes your place look! And as much of a visual upgrade as it is, my living with fantastic baseboards and trim etc has taught me how important it is for protecting walls from bumps and kicks and wear and tear. It's beautiful and practical!
The previous trim was kinda teeny...this new trim makes such an impact and feels so much nicer! It really is amazing what good millwork can do for a space!
You can't beat a good neutral backdrop for added colour with textiles etc. The best thing is when you want to change it up you're only changing textiles and not having to repaint which is such a blessing. I am so looking forward to seeing your new countertops, thanks for taking us along with you. 💕💕
You should feel proud of all your hard work. The house is looking amazing. Your skills are very impressive. I love watching this transformation. What a work of love. Enjoy your home. Thank you for sharing your journey.
Wow, the before and after are night and day, Great job! I love DIYs. The white paint colors really brightens the space and makes it look clean. I recently painted all my interior walls and doors with white colors. It's a project that I don't want to ever have to do again lol. I have also worked with wood and I learned that wood dust is cancer causing so I make sure that I wear a mask anytime I cut wood. Yes, homeownership todos are never-ending 😩lol.
The nicest thing about your videos is that I feel your sense of achievement and satisfaction. It's a joy to be able to share in your huge project. Thank you and good luck as you work towards the finish line.🌷
I have the privilege of being Casey’s mom in law. Being impressed with Casey and Alan while they work on this house has been…I have no words. Neither of them had any experience, tools or help of any kind…(except for some tips they could get from people at the local Home Depot and RUclips University). This house was a long time coming for these two and after all the dreaming and waiting they are Nailing it!.
You both are putting so much love into that home. It's so nice to watch your process, and it does look dramatically different. If you have a Restore in your area, It's a great resource for building materials, paint supplies, lights, and tons of other things at a really low price. All the proceeds go to benefit habitat for humanity. They have used items, but also a lot of new items as well. Great job!
What a difference! Almost-literally night and day. You've made it so bright and airy, and the chunkier trim makes adds so much character and...'grounding', if that makes sense. And great job on that tricky door frame height difference! Very excited to see the countertops...🤩
Looking good! I love your window/door trim, it's similar to what we put in our house. And you've made dingy become beautiful and bright! One thing you might consider is investing in some knee pads, I wore them a lot when we were building our house 15 years ago. My husband still wears them almost every day when he works out in his shop. They're also great for protecting your knees when doing yard work.
I am so impressed with your talent not only in sewing but all you have done with your home renovations! It looks great, you should be very proud of yourselves!
I am amazed at how much you have done and how good everything is looking. You have probably already thought of this, but if not......I would upgrade the switch plates and plug plates to either match the paint color or go with a metal or wood look. Also upgrade the air vent covers (not sure what they are called). I did that when we put our bamboo floors in and it looks so much better. There are lota of options out there. I just bought mine at Lowe's, the wood-stained ones look real nice with my paint colors.
If you use kilz or a similar product, that will eliminate the bleed through of the stain. Kilz is a stain blocker. It helps prevent the tannins from bleeding through your primer base. It looks AMAZING and bright. Much brighter than it was before. Good job you guys!
So funny! I thought I’d take a quick tea break from sewing your dog coat pattern for my grandpuppy. And, voila! There was your brand new video. The trim looks fantastic and YES!! You should be proud. The two of you have done a great job! With your new found carpentry skills, you definitely need to consider making some furnishings for that dining room.
You are ready for your Christmas Tree now. Once those countertops are in, take the holidays off. You both deserve to savor your accomplishments-the never-ending to do list will be there in the new year. Thanks for bringing us along on your DIY journey.
Much credit for your patience, I completely remodelled the hallway in my home and HATED doing it. So much trim and awkward corners and fiddly problems to fix. I’ll never complain about DIY again as long as I can leave hallways alone!
Thanks! I originally thought I might paint the doors, but I ended up liking them stained (to my surprise)! I'm going to live with them for a little longer and see how I feel in a few months.
oil based primer is stinky but will stop the stain bleed through on the window. I painted a window box we had over a kitchen sink and had to use the oil based but worked like a charm!
Casey, I am so enjoying your renovation journey. The house is becoming a lovely home! You are so inspiring. I can't wait to see the kitchen countertops!
Amazing! You should be incredibly proud of yourselves. That’s a huge undertaking and you smashed it. Have really enjoyed watching your progress. Thank-you ❤
I know it's kind of late advice, but keeping your finger wet when smoothing caulk really helps. The transformation is awesome! I've been in my house for 18 years and we are still working on it. One day (hopefully before I die, lol) I'll be done with it!
This has been so much fun to watch your process and progress! I look forward to each new episode. Congratulations on making your home your own! Also, one question. Your slider in the kitchen and one window in the dining room look cloudy. Have the thermo panes lost their seal or maybe it is just construction dust??
You both should be very proud of all you have accomplished! It’s looking great. And I love that top you’re wearing (the white one with the buttons) - is it one of you makes?
You almost make me want to put in new trim in my house! Looks really nice. Just curious do the windows in the bedrooms meet regress? They look really narrow I height
Merry Christmas Casey to you and Alan in your new home! I pray that blessings will be heaped upon you both and that this new adventure continues to bring you joy!
Thank you so much, Merry Christmas to you, too! :)
You and your husband should be proud. You have made an amazing transformation to this house. It's beautiful.

You’ve made a huge difference! The wider craftsman trim is modern and looks expensive.
Beautiful! You know that this is very organized because you are a pattern designer and sewist! We can do the necessary math and puzzles! Looking fantastic! You are moving along.
Definitely some crossover there! :)

Exactly! I'm planning to have some fun with the textiles :)
You are so patient. That trim project was quite a lot of work! I hope you will give yourselves some chill time over the holidays.
We were definitely celebrating the end of that project! :)
You should feel proud of all your hard work. The house is looking amazing. Your skills are very impressive. I love watching this transformation. What a work of love. Enjoy your home. Thank you for sharing your journey.

"Homeownership comes with endless to-do lists." I am also learning that lesson. 😁 Your home is beautiful!

Trim is looking great. I would paint the interior doors off white, too.
Your house is coming along beautifully . I'm excited about your project and can't wait for the finale. 😊
Wow - you have made such a transformation in your space. Your hard work is definitely making a huge difference.
I love this transformation for you both. You are quite handy and that alone is impressive. Yay to female warriors!❤❤
Great job Casey! I am totally impressed with everything you guys have done. Looking forward to seeing how you decorate each room!

The trim looks great. You really have done so much good to that home! I'm excited to see what you end up doing with your sunroom. Happy holidays!
One day that sunroom will be a little sunny sanctuary! One day...😅 Happy Holidays!
I hope you’re really proud of everything you’ve accomplished.
You can be proud !!!
The trim looks great! I love to caulk. It makes such a difference
You are so impressive, excellent work. You’re quite inspiring. ✌️

That's exactly what I used and it still bled through :/ And then several coats of paint with primer...
Another coat of kilz should do the trick.

Thank you! Oh, and I have so many ideas for more woodworking projects! I just need another me to make them all haha :)

So excited to decorate for Christmas!

Looks beautiful, great job ❤
I love love love the new trim. I think you said you were leaving the bedroom doors stained? i hope you change your mind on that! Anyway great job!!
Thanks! I originally thought I might paint the doors, but I ended up liking them stained (to my surprise)! I'm going to live with them for a little longer and see how I feel in a few months.

Really proud of you also. Such a lot of work but worth it.
I think you are amazing!!!

Yes! I used a wet paper towel or wet wipe, which helped a ton.
Impressed!!

Thanks! Yes, I made the white top (it's a pattern hack of my Comfi Tee pattern) :)
Killz primer over the stained wood. I had to use on our similar trim in our 80’s house remodel
That's what I used and it still bed through :/
@@PatternScoutHome did you use the shellac based Kilz? They have an acrylic based version that doesn’t work nearly as well.
Love you❤❤
You almost make me want to put in new trim in my house! Looks really nice. Just curious do the windows in the bedrooms meet regress? They look really narrow I height
Thanks! The windows are double hung, so they are big enough for egress when both sashes are removed. But they are indeed small!
