    How does the stroker crank shaft not push the pistons up out of the cylinders into the valves? Special pistons?

    • @isaacesch944
      @isaacesch944 Месяц назад

      Yes pistons are specific to different rod length and stroke, the wrist pin is higher in the piston and piston is usually shorter that a standard 350 piston.

    I enjoy your 383 stroker series. You are thorough in assembling the engine and give helpful insight as to why you do things the way you do. I also compliment you on your professional attitude and the straight forward, no drama presentation. Keep producing these informative videos.

    You hit it big time with both 65 GTO's . I have looked for one since I was 20 yrs old, and have never found one that wasn't an arm and a leg. Glad to see you will restore them. My old man had one he built in 81 & 82, but like my 78 T/A it was stolen. That GTO is why I am a Poncho fan to this day and I'm 51 now. After kids and now 5 grandkids, I realize, I may never own one, but I can always dream. God bless, will be looking for the restoration process and watching 😊

      It needs to be close. This engine has a roller cam, so the cover is reinforced and there is a cam button to prevent it from walking ahead.

    Nice Monte man. I am working on my '72 Monte... installing disc brakes on the rear. Question for ya if you don't mind- I removed the axles from the 12 bolt and now I have them back in with C clips installed. For the life of me I cannot get the pin all the way back in. I also had a curved washer fall out. I'm struggling without a lift. Anyhow, is there a trick to getting the pin back in?

    • @bkgaragerestorations
      @bkgaragerestorations 5 месяцев назад

      The curved washers go under the spider gears. As for the pin, it should go in pretty easy. All I can suggest is taking it back apart and double check that everything is lined up properly and try again.

    • @designsinorbit
      @designsinorbit 5 месяцев назад

      @@bkgaragerestorations Thanks for responding. Do both spider gears have one of these washers? I haven't actually removed anything from the 12 bolt besides the axles and pin...so I don't yet have a full understanding of what the heck is going on in there. Seems like I have to turn an axle till nothing is in the way of the pin. It went in like 90% but is running into something. I dunno, maybe I should just rip it all out and try a rebuild...and also change from the 4:11 to a 3:56 would be huge.

    Question,why do so many guys build 383 Strokers, From what I have noticed they are an expensive build,and moat post HP /TQ numbers I have seen are right at 450-475+ HP.

    • @bkgaragerestorations
      @bkgaragerestorations 6 месяцев назад

      This one makes 510/491 with the real world tune. I built it because I was after those kind of numbers from a high revving small block. Big blocks are even more expensive to build, and are heavier.

    I know this I an old post, i just stumbled across your monte carlo build. My favorite monte carlo 70-72.. My uncle had one when I was a kid. I bought a rust bucket with no engine back in 87 when I was 19. A used 350 and probably 3 gallons of bondo 12 rattle cans of gray primer and I was off and running!

    Will this engine run on pump gas? Will it need race gas? An octane booster? What did you calculate compression ratio? Deck height? Beautiful build. Cost breakdown? Or are we afraid to figure it? LOL!
