    Surprised you don't keep the connecting rods and their caps together or even the crank main bearing caps to location.

      The connecting rods and caps are stamped, and the main caps have numbers cast right into them. Everything goes back in the same place.

    Question for you if I may i have a 1964 Grand prix with the 389 and im having it rebuilt at the moment and its going to be a while on that, would a 1960 389 go in without problems do you know? I appreciate any help you can give

      '64 was when Pontiac started mounting the starter on the block. 1960 will have it mounted to the transmission bellhousing. However, from what I've read some full sized cars still had it mounted to the trans in '64 even though the block was set up for it.
