Whats up Rad Family! Welcome back to the channel. Today we discuss my most favorite form of music created in the 80s and the 90s. I started listening when I was 15 years old and have been hooked ever since. I've traveled the country for shows and experiences. This is the one genre of music I do not see too many (or none at all) Gen Xers ever talking about. Why not? It originated in Chicago and ...

Toyota Supra Restoration Update 3 - Parts Problems & Engine Cleaning #retro #asmr
This originated on the nightly news broadcast in the late 60’s due to youth enacted curfews. In our area it was “it’s 11 o’clock don’t know where your children are” because our nightly newscast was at 11 instead of 10pm.
I had a blast through the 80s & 90s for the most part...
It's 10a.m. do you know where your children are?
Yeah... Let's not forget those "Very Special Episodes" where someone either died or got molested. Good times.
I imagine a mix of 80s 90s and 2000s 80s pop culture 2000s aesthetics tech and musics 90s entertainment *Perfect dream world for me*

My favorite one was the black kid walking home from school the dad They never showed him. He was trying to go yo my man, I got some ludes for you. No way how about a little marijuana no way man that’s what you tell the dealers if anyone ever asked you to take some son good job.😂
That thumbnail does not represent gen x. Propaganda at its worst. F' you n your vid.
Gen X rise up

I grew up in NY. It wasn't because it was more dangerous then, it was atually safer. The PSA's were mainly to encourage parental responsibility. Bretty basic stuff. Today, they bring their kids to drag shows.
Yeah I know. That would have been considered child abuse when I grew up. Thanks for the comment 🤙
I was born in 85 but I was raised with my gen xer I guess siblings my parents are late term Boomers mid to late 50s I don't consider myself a Millennials zillennial or any of those lineal things I'm a Y2K kid I was a teenager in 99 I turn 20 and 05 so I wasn't raised in the Millennia and I don't think people born in my year should be called Millennials because we was not raising a new millennium group we were grown by the time the New Millennium happen 8990 and down yeah they could be considered millennials because they had most of their formative years in the 90s but most of their growing up you know Junior High High School Etc was in the Millennia

My father worked for the Department of Corrections in Rikers Island the most notorious prison in the United States and he would always call at 9:00 p.m. to make sure my eldest siblings were in the house he didn't wait until 10:00 at 9:00 he was saying I know where all my children are not 10. One time my dad was asked by a reporter around that time and he said himself she knows exactly where all his children are by 9:00 p.m. every night they are all at home in the living room watching the news when it says it's 10:00 p.m. Do You Know Where Your Children Are
@kaleahcollins4567 that's awesome. Sounds like a great dad🤙🤙
You have one of the best retro channels. Gen X will always have the best memories. Gen Z seems to be more interested in our culture of the '80s and '90s. What are they going to reminisce about? Memes and Tiktok?😅 Rad Pack!!! I like that!!!!
@chaddeez8446 thanks brother I appreciate the awesome compliment. I wonder that also. What will their nostalgia even be? Time will tell🤙🤙
I like the additions on the records on the wall. Very cool about the news. Haha. The levels are great. 😂 I'm happy for ya man and I'm glad Brandon introduced me to you.
@erldude likewise, brother, and thanks for noticing the backdrop. My wife made those as props for an 80s event a while back, and she surprised me yesterday by putting them up for me🤙🤙

I'm so grateful I was a child of the late 80s early 90s. We had freedom and independence. My parents taught me enough about stranger danger/ inappropriate touching and drugs etc. Though after the age of 12.. I was on my own until 7pm so had to learn to cook. Wish I could go back to those better days. Kids these days are entitled brats with no life skills.
@deborahtchir3241 exactly. Check out this video I did recently about the food we had to cook for ourselves since our parents were gone lol ruclips.net/video/_8N0ZweWpwE/видео.html

@deborahtchir3241 Merry Christmas to you too🎄
I am 60 I don't remember my parents asking me how. school was even once. Not sure if that was normal for the time or not
@raintree3383 my mom did from time to time. Mainly, it was me telling her how my day was. Whether she listened or not, who knows lol🤣🤙

My baby boomer dad would add chopped up hot dogs to our Kraft Mac and Cheese. I’m a millennial.
@NickyRose88 I like that also. Either ground beef, hot dogs or Spam 🤙🤙
Our parents were the lazy kids of war vets who had everything and thought we’d get it too without them doing anything ….. until Ronnie the Shill became prez and they took it all back. I remember hearing all the lies as a kid then when I hit the right age, everything was suddenly too expensive and placed on our young shoulders. I said screw college, I’ll read a book. Worked fine for 4000 years.
@bluestrife28 that's awesome 😆 it has worked well for 4000 years. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't even read books anymore 😔🤙

Stoned & making RUclips videos is definitely a way to go through life
Obviously you thought a video like this would be awesome when you were high ! WTF are you rambling on about
No no my children are always with me never outta my sight. I just can’t
Both parents were too busy with work to pay the taxes and cost of living that never went down after carter's hyperinflation which created the "misery index." The PSA was created to remind parents that they had kids as well as work.
@iSoldat sometimes it didn't work, I guess 🤣 Thanks for commenting 🤙🤙
@@radgraham No, they still had to work. The two income family became a necessity.
Kids are still being abducted but in much larger numbers. The U.S.government are the biggest child traffickers in the world. Watch the OPEN southern border.
You are 100% correct.

You say life is hard but I’m 37 and can’t have children because of loser parents putting me on some medication at a young age but I always went where I wanted and nothing happened. Been on my own since 15 and I’m a wreck but I am sober and don’t care for that lifestyle. No one dare pick me up. I’m not in my right mind
Been a very long time since I saw Josh wink last. Probably mid 2000's was the last time I saw him live.

House andd D&B, UKG too. So glad I got into this music while I was still a teen in late eighties early nineties. <3
@@Audunforgard absolutely 💯 me too🤙🤙
as you mention acid house a lot - early 2023 saw the first 7" vinyl release of a project named chihuahua on acid on my label intrauterin recordings which basically delivers a take on late 80s chicago acid(house) for those who still remember jack... and his crew ;) one distinction you miss here is that house music evolved from a background of disco whilst nubeat came out of european industrial music for the most part and therefore oftentimes sounded more sterile and futuristic than a lot of housemusic at the time. also interesting that 'silver screen shower scene' by felix the housecat and miss kittin was perceived as house track over in the US whilst here in germany it was more popular with the emerging electrohouse scene and, ofc, with what was called electroclash which had a more distinct underground pop crossover appeal if you will in terms of the use of vocals and more of a band'ish aspect of presentation.
Yeah you are correct. I know Silver Screen wasn't a house track but because it was Felix it kind of got called house. For sure early house came from the disco realm. So many genres and names to get lost in lol🤣😆. Thanks for the comment 🙏
@@radgraham always a pleasure to be able to add something to a discussion within my field of competence. at least this what i'd call electronic music after 25+ years of being actively invlvd in it.
You lost me at "House". I like a lot of "Techno" (the early stuff anyway) and almost all forms of Electronic music going all the way back to the very early experimental days of "Moog" concept albums (because no one at that time, thought of it as "music"). But the crap that is called "House" (ESPECIALLY the shit that came/comes out of Chicago) is absolute steaming piles of putrid Horse Shite!!! (Unless you are on lots of cocaine -- which is also complete Shite! So... Still Shite.)
Whip it good!

Techno didnt turn into trance. Trance was just a little more popular for a bit. Techno is the number 1 genre on beatport now though. and there are a few different types of techno these days. I play hardtechno.
@@davidedwards3838 you are correct. Started in Detroit but really blew up in Germany
@@radgraham Detroit techno is still is still alive. of course Jeff Mills is the biggest to come out of the Detroit scene. but I really like octave one. they are a live act. we used to call it live PA. i had a huge argument with the germans in the comment sections the just cant stand that Techno is American. they go straight to you must be American. nope I am Canadian. I am just old enough to be your Dad and was there at the start of the Genre.
@davidedwards3838 🤣😆yeah I love that they are from America🤙
@@radgraham biggest techno dj/producer to come out of Canada is Ritchie Hawtin. I would describe him as kinda the bridge between the Detroit sound that was definitely mote melodic with keys and the European 4 on the floor with the more computer industry sound.
@davidedwards3838 yeah he is great. Love Tiga also. I did not know Richie was Canadian though. Cool🤘
