Hi im an old officer in the army now in pension. I have some questions . Do you think a soldier be better if i yell at him until he wet the pants? I dont think so, all people have a brain, we in sweden tests all soldiers befor start to know what work will fit them best. If a soldier make a mistake he will not learn a shit if you yell at him in an hour, but he will be afraid to do what he should do so the chance he do wrong gain be hughe, and he will bee enormous afraid of that drill sargent.. Instaed you can first of all he must learn what to do,second rehersel time after time untill he can do it in sleep. a nossle on a hose is a nossle and it fit one way so if the motor is runing or not doesent matter because the soldier should concentrate to atatch the hose not fiddel in the motor. and its the same for all members in the team eatch of them have a specific task to do. not build a new plane. you can hit or yell or do what ever with a soldier but he will not be better just unsertain. its human beeings not animals and if you as chef is polite they will follow you in daeth, bad behavior and you got bad soldiers or deserters. i have 27 years in the army and iv never yelld at a soldier to learn him something. disiplin comes out of that you are a professional not a sadist.Kj

The Battle of the Schelde was more then brutal. It is odd it does not stand with other battles like the Bulge, Market Garden or D-Day in history. Moreover food supplies were low ( a forboding for the hunger winter ) For either side it must have been hell, so I can immagine the Germans wanting out.

Its a bit unfair to call it just a upgrade. Grippen E got a new airframe (about 60%), new wing, new engine, new cockpit, new EW and radar. Its like landing gears and nose cone that is left from grippen C. With that, grippen is not alone with a upgrade like this. That is also true for F18 to F/A18 and sort of kind of for mig 25 to mig 31, granted they also change the name.

About the slave trade. I think both countries tried to get into the slave trade but these endeavors where pretty quickly snuffed out by the bigger colonial powers. Especially the real masters of the slave trade - the portugese and the dutch. Also the region in the US that Sweden tried to colonize is in New Jersey.

Scope is like automatic transmission on cars. "Real men drive stick". When I was in the Finnish Defence Forces as a conscript, I was able to easily place 10 shots in target roughly head-size from 300 yards (meters) with our improved AK-type assault rifle, RK 62. With iron sights. To area of center mass (like Häyhä did) with similar rifle he used, from up to 500 yards ,not all ten rounds, though, about half of them. When sighted in carefully, iron sights are almost as accurate as scope up to several hundred yards, and wind effect must be corrected with both. To that half a kilometre, even the angle counts, is it uphill or downhill.

Something to note, is just how well placed those two shots were. The first one knocked out power to Blucher's turrets. The second one hits the scouting airplane hangar. Keep in mind, Blucher is loaded with troops going to invade Oslo. There's also ammunition in that hangar, in addition to the plane and the fuel for it. So that goes up like a torch, and all the smoke is being sucked through air intakes into the engine room. The fire gets hot enough to damage the hull. Then the torpedo hits it right at the point where it's been weakened. The Blucher's sinking forces the Germans to land their invasion force further away, and allows the Norwegians to evacuate their royal family and their gold reserve.

You are probably correct about the air force. However, the narrative of the series is designed to present each layer of the total defence strategy. So at this point, remnants of the air force (and the navy) may still be operating, but they are not important for the purpose of presenting this layer of the strategy.

It is interesting in that song how its starts all cheery and then the tone totally shifts into a much darker tone. True it was a fanatical group of Serb nationalists with Gavrilo Princip that ignighted the Great War but the war was allready smoldering just waiting for an excuse to truly ignite.

'Baptised in blood' refers to the fact that during the 30 Years War it was common for soldiers' families to accompany them into the field. Children were born there, their father died in the war, the sons took over and died in turn. And so it went on. Generations were erased.

The M3 was adopted by the US Army Rangers in the 80s, it was called the RAAWS (Ranger Anti Armor Weapon System). Seeing just how effective it was in Afghanistan (at a fraction the weight, and cost) over the Javelin, "Big" Army adopted the Carl G in the 2010s. The M4 Carl G is in service as the "M3E1" (I guess describing it as an improved version of the M3 is easier budget wise to acquire vs "Oh a new number it's a whole new weapon, needs a whole new trial process") M3/M3E1 is officially the "Multi-Role Anti-Armor Anti-Personnel Weapon System" or MAAWS (since it's no longer Ranger exclusive). Regular Infantry it supplements the Javelin in the Rifle Platoon (normally two Jav teams in the Weapons Squad, they now get, in addition, 1 or 2 Carl G's, depending on availability. They can either take them out in place of the Jav, and/or give one or both to one of the Rifle Squads in addition to the Jav. While the Rangers it's always been organic in their Weapons Squads (which have 3, instead of 2, Machine Gun teams, and the Carl G team... and Javelins are at the Company level and not really taken out in their current mission sets with a lack of heavy enemy armor in Afghanistan and Syria, but they'd probably get reinforced with one or two Javelins per Platoon if they fought in Ukraine or something like that). I know for a fact we had Carl Gustavs (Probably the M3 RAAWS model, we just called them Carl Gustav lol) at my firebase in Afghanistan in 2011. Only ever got to fire them at the static training range, but man, they were fun as heck. Easier to carry one Carl G and a half dozen rounds vs half a dozen guys each carrying an AT4 (plus as seen in the vid, a wider range of useful rounds, we primarily had that HE round you could set to airburst). Of course once you shot an AT4 you didn't have to lug around the empty launcher afterwards, so you know, tradeoffs
