Great recommendations! I wondered if you watched the movie for "Babette's Feast" - if you haven't, I highly recommend it. They did such a great job of adapting the book, and it is nice to see everything play out on screen - especially since so much of it is related to food.

I loved The Anthropocene Reviewed and I listened to the audiobook. Must re-listen to it. So many amazing recommendations here that I’ve made a note of.
@@spreadbookjoy I haven’t liked John Green’s fiction but I loved the Podcast. My old flatmate bought me the book because we liked the Podcast so much!
Some very cozy reads, indeed! An Old Fashioned Girl is near and dear to my heart because I read it with my great aunt Mum when I was a child and we shared a bedroom and had a hot plate and made tea in the bedroom at night and she gave me her copies of that and Under the Lilacs. This was in the 1970’s!

So many amazing suggestions! I LOVED your recommendations. 'Out of Africa' is one of my favorite movies and I started reading the book in my twenties. I need to give it another go. Babette's Feast sounds amazing. 🍂

I have been wondering about 'The Iron Giant'. I have heard mixed reviews so wasn't sure if I should try it with my son. I loved the animated movie! Turmeric ginger is my favorite tea! I would get it loose leaf from a company called Soluna but sadly they stopped selling tea. 'Daddy Long Legs is one I keep meaning to get and read! I just found a very autumnal looking version!🍁
@@WaterBearReads You might peruse I G before reading it to him. As I said it is meant to explain a missing parent and the way society can treat children in a hard situation. So it’s difficult but heartwarming, and funny at moments, & a beautiful story in the end.

Thank you! I will really have to get to this one soon. The Silent Type is a perfect name! Your shop is definitely the sort I love, the one I try to hit for indie bookstore day here is like that - new/used combined, alphabetical but by way of overflowing stacks and floor to ceiling shelves.

Hello, my friend. I have never read "More of a Kind" but I adore "All of a Kind"! I hope to hear great things! I liked Epic of Gilgamesh when I read it it Classical Literature class long ago, we'll see if my tastes have changed. @@novelideeaI think I'm going to try to read this one. It seems a bit hard to find from my searching. You can't know ALL the Russian books. Lol. I'll ask Igor about it. GR says it's read I'm school so not sure if that means Uni since I see that Northwestern reprinted a version or school in Russia like in the US there are certain books which lots of kids have to read.

I'm going to read the Red Sept group read and C&P. I'm not reading any Communist type books although i do have the first 2 Gulag Archipelago in one bind up. I thought it was just going to be "read Russian " so i planned by what i own. I have a Russian fantasy/folktale, some Tolstoy short ones so they will count for shorty Sept, a Hardy that's short and Dune Messiah will be for Scifi Sept then I'll have i see how my mood strikes.

@@PageTurnersWithKatja I found this play adapted from Pratchett’s book! I can never find Pratchett second hand so this caught my attention. It isn’t the same thing, but I thought it’d be fun to read since Pratchett meant it as a reimagined MacBeth❣️

@@novelideeaI hear ya on P&V. I read C&P in that translation the first time. This time I'm using Oliver Ready which I read is a really good translation. I'll read a different translation when I read it again.
@@novelideea yes, I do remember liking it. It may even have been a Solzhenitsyn book... but yeah, I haven't experienced anyone outside of P&V that strips the emotion so much.
@Thecatladybooknook_PennyD their translation was my first read too. And I enjoyed it, but when I read Garnett I could connect so much better.
@@CourtneyReads I read Garnett the first time, but I don’t own that copy any longer. My PV experience was with other Russian authors.
By the way John Howe is best known for his illustrations of Tolkein, he was one of the conceptional artists on the Lord of the Rings movies with Alan Lee. I have read the first Shardlake story and enjoyed it, I have another but its way out of order so I want to get the second one next.

@@novelideea one of my in -laws lost her hearing and learned to read lips. She says that when people articulate the words clearly she has learned to understand them!
