A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is devastatingly beautiful. One of my favorite novels of all time! And I totally agree: that edition of Jane Eyre is the best! It so well captures the Lowood School! Happy Birthday 🎉🎉🎉
devastatingly beautiful - sounds like an Anne-ism 🤗
The wood cuts are incredible. I need to find a bookbinder and have them strengthen the binding.
2 years on BookTube? How did that happen?!
@@novelideea Ha! I’ve just been rereading Anne, so probably! 😊 Two years is great. And you’ve been very active in posting. Lots of great vlogs.
Ahhhhh!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Thank you!!!!!!❤❤❤❤
Send me a message on IG with your info! I'll drop it in the mail tomorrow!
I read Jane Eyre for the first time last year and I haven’t stopped thinking about it. I already want to reread it! It’s a top-favorite now. I just requested A Tree Grows In Brooklyn from my library upon your review. I already ordered Persuasion and can’t wait to read that next! You gave so many great recommendations. Thank you!
As Celeste about "A Tree" said in one of the comments, it is devestatingly beautiful. It's very hard to read, so prepare yourself.😓
Persuasion is not going to disappoint. 🤗
Jane Eyre is going to live in my top 5 novels of all time forever.🥰
Loved this! I either love these books (esp Persuasion, EotH, and TH&TP) or I have them on my reading list (esp, The Scarlet Pimpernel and a Gentlemen in Moscow). Yes to the two Anne Brontë's! and I do still have a special place in my heart for Charlotte's Jane Eyre.
Miss Eyre is too well rooted in my heart to be replaced by the wonderful Anne's protagonists, but She Herself has replaced the sister 😅🤭
You are going to love both of the ones on you TBR I think🥰
So many books I have on my TBR and can’t wait to get into 🥰 Looks like you really love Anne Brontë, and I agree with Jane Eyre!! You pronounced Dumas very well 👏🏻 Happy anniversary 🥳
I do really love Anne! I don’t know that I did when I was younger but I’m glad to have reread her books and poetry later in life and fallen in love. Jane will never be dethroned though 🥰
Hooray for pronouncing names well! I try, so I appreciate you telling me! ♥️
Yay! This series has been the BEST! I’m sad it’s over!
Well 🤭 There will be one more because someone requested a nonfiction adult favorites, soooo…
What a great list of books!! Many of those are my favs too! Others I've added to my list or to my library list
Hooray! I hope the ones you choose to pick up become favorites!
I enjoyed this, Anne Bronte is one my favorite Bronte too. (I love Jane Eyre. I have that copy which why I didn't enter, I am happy for Penny.) I agree that when your younger the beauty of Persuasion doesn't really reveal yourself, but as you get older then you really understand Anne and all she is going through.
It's so odd that what was my top JA as a youngster is my bottom one as an old lady! 🤣 and the one that was near the bottom is now my favorite. Perspective. 🤗
❤
@@novelideea exactly.
Great list! Some of these are on my absolute favorites list also. ❤ and i agree about Anne Bronte. She's my favorite Bronte, too, and not just because of her name.😂
I am kicking myself for some that I left out , but it's a good indication of what many more would be like if I were to list them! haha!
I have read enough Charlotte and Emily to know with confidence that Anne is my Bronte ! 😅🥰🤗
You do have a great name! (my sister in law is Anna and I really wanted one of my kids to have a girl and call her Annie after Auntie Anna - but also after Miss Shirley, and Miss Bronte, and Miss Elliot!)
I have really enjoyed this series of videos! So many amazing books! 🤎
I am so glad!
I have had a request for nonfiction ones too, so I guess there will be one more! haha😂
I'm also really looking forward to finding some more to add to this list this year!
Great list! Some on here I love, some I like, some I didn't, some I want to read. Loved hearing about them.
Oooo! Which ones didn't you like? I don't feel like that happens with us very often!
East of Eden was a DNF for me somewhere a bit over 100 pages I think. And I liked Les Miserables, but didn't love it. I had planned to reread it with Aaron this month but I don't think that's going to happen.
This is SHOCKING!!!!!! I have only read one -The Count of Monte Cristo.
Once again, one of your lists is making me need to reach for some of these sooner than later 😅
I am indeed Shocked! 😳
You haven’t read Jane Eyre? Or Zora? I think you’ll really love them!
@@novelideea I think Wuthering Heights is the only one of the Brontes I've actually read, and that ones a bit hazy, though I have seen adaptations of Jane Eyre.
I think Nicholas Nickleby will have to wait until I retire. I think I’d hurt myself if I tried a book that size now. I need to get on my Dostoyevsky! I didn’t know Lorna Doone was a book… I just thought it was a cookie 😊
🤣🤣🤣🤣! I didn’t know there was a cookie called Lorna Doone!
Dostoevsky definitely has smaller books than BK! I’d start with Demons or Crime and Punishment.
@@novelideea I will definitely take another whack at C&P first. I read some of it many years ago, but didn’t finish. Have always meant to go back.
Yep. Pretty good cookie.
What a wonderful list. 🥲♥️ So many are my favorites, too. I’m sooo excited to read Nicholas Nickleby! I just got A Gentleman in Moscow for .25 cents at a library booksale. East of Eden was so stirring! I still think about it! yay, Penny! 😅
I hope you fall in love with the characters the way I have♥️
Yay! For Gentleman! It slow and takes place in a singular space so you have to be okay with it being character driven and watching life slowly unfold. EoE is achingly hard. Lovely & also dark. It has endured in my memory; floats to the surface unexpectedly & unbidden.
