Getting rid of all my books that didn't make me happy is one of the best decisions I've made bc that way the shelves just have better vibes and I actually enjoy looking at them😂
i separate my bookshelves by genre, girl it is so nice. it's so easy to find everything and you could still have a small rainbow section with romance 🤷♀
Yes, update the bookshelf to show different genres. That’s exactly what I will be doing because sometimes I’m in the mood for a mystery and sometimes I’m in the mood for a romance. Love your videos!
In my district we have the same little bird houses for books and most of the time there are crappy books. I always leave a note inside the books wishing to the person picking up that book a happy reading and how the book made me feel. It’s a fantastic idea to give another life to the books ❤️
Ah yes! ❤️ I constantly go through my bookshelves and unhaul books that I have no value in, that don’t bring me joy, or simply that I no longer feel the need to keep! 😂 It always keeps my library feeling fresh and a lot more personal, and it always makes my TBR seem less overwhelming! Anyhow, love your channel, every time I watch it feels like being wrapped in a comfy book blanket. Lots of love 💕
I live in a tiny studio so I’m working on being more intentional with what I bring in. I’ve been checking books out from the library and buying ebooks if I can’t wait for a popular book. If a book I borrowed is so special to me, or I want to re-read it in the future I’ll buy a physical copy. That being said, I LOVE watching others sort through color-sorted bookshelves. It’s so satisfying and I’m living vicariously this way! I love that the donated books are quality, and someone will be so excited to read them. Also, I haven’t finished Tomorrow, Tomorrow and Tomorrow, and I’m not sure if I will. I can see why others enjoyed it, but I’m comforted that someone else didn’t love it for the same reasons.
I wish I had time to sit down and make a mashup of the clips of you throwing “that” book because it has happened way too many times to not be a whole video clip😂 love it when you do that😂
If you haven't already, I'd recommend writing on the inside cover or title page where/when you bought the book if it's somewhere special like the biggest barnes and noble in new york so that you'll have that memory immortalized
You should update your bookshelf that would be so fun! If you want to keep some sort of color theme you could organize them by genre/series and then by color, that’s how I do my bookshelves. For example all of the fantasy books would be together and then they would be organized by color and the end color would go into romance of the same color and then those were a rainbow too, etc.
I'm love watching book reviewers. I mainly watch fantasy reviews and never read romance, but your enthusiasm and fun personality shine, so I'm along for the vibes. 😅❤
You’ve gotta keep the books you like owning and get rid of the ones you won’t miss. It’s kind of a case by case scenario haha. Also as soon as you punched a book in the intro, I subscribed. Love your energy 😂
I was going to watch this yesterday and then heard your rendition of I'll Make a Man out of You and immediately listened to the entire soundtrack and watched the movie. Now I am finally watching your video; haha thanks Khalilah, you've made me so happy 💜
It has been snowing nonstop this weekend, so yesterday I finally went through all my books. After years of hoarding, we unhauling 😃🙌🏼😂 It’s so many books like whoa. I feel like a literal weight has been taken off (my shelves). Lol, I’m really glad I discovered this channel last month. Been binge watching and I just love your personality! 🥹🫶🏻
I like this decluttering UNhaul. Your screen presence is awesome and I relate to it so much. Me, I give my books as soon as I'm done unless I absolutely love them!
Wow! YOU are infectious! Your energy, wit, and the way you come across on camera is so refreshing AND your distaste for American Psycho had me hooked! I look forward to seeing more of your content.
my toxic trait is loving your personality, and admiring your commitment to being a bookworm!! 💖 why do i want to be friends w you? who wouldnt lolllll :)
Hi Khalilah! Just wanted to say that your videos genuinely make my day. Whenever I watch a video of yours, either I smile or I laugh or I talk to the screen as if you can hear me lol. Its always a treat! Sending much love
4:44 You are my type of reader. I am NOT a fan of reading series. I don’t like the commitment and my ADHD/anxiety is just not here for it. I need completion.
it's the first time that I see one of your videos in my recommendation page and girlll you're gorgeous! And you give such cozy vibes. Other than that I appreciate that you read something that brings you joy before going to bed, sometimes I forget that because I study literature in Italy and I always have the feeling that I have to read heavy books and not giving myself the pleasure of reading something just for fun. Thank you for creating these videos for us!
6:04 "BY A THREAD" 😡 That made me cackle! I hated that book, too! And every booktuber I watched loved that book. I just could not understand how anyone could like that book. I feel so validated!
the ‘my wallet’ meme had me rolling. I need to go through my books as well. And those glasses are neat! i love how you can swap them like that. I like the rainbow effect of your books, but i can understand having your series together
Love your videos! ❤ I updated my bookshelves a couple of weeks ago and reorganized alphabetically based on author's last name (created a spreadsheet to do the heavy lifting) and I have LOVED it. So easy to find things and I surprisingly really like how the books look eclectic when mixed and matched with different authors. It also helps me to not accidentally re-buy any books that are on my physical TBR. Just a thought - organizing by genre is fun too! 😊
Omg going out in the freezing cold weather with a puffer vest is so relatable hahahah!! Love that you were able to fill up so many free little libraries!
Great intro song, no notes. You're so adorable! How is this the first I'm seeing of you, yet I was already subscribed? And also, yay, someone else didn't like The Midnight Library! It lacked any kind of subtlety, and was basically jamming its message into our throats at every single point. We don't have a lot in common when it comes to our tastes in books, but you're very fun to watch.
I did this at the end of the year and it felt so good because now i feel like a have the space to bring home more books that i really like. Giving books aways its a really nice feeling because i hope pleople find the peace that i feel when am reading those books. Also the part were you kick your kneecap was hilarious hope u are fine tho.
I bought The Goldfinch at the thriftstore! It is translated to my language but maybe that's a good thing, since it's so long. I will also do a unhaul this year
To answer your main question, I know, this is super individual, but I often get rid of books which I loved as well. I prefer to only surround myself with the ones that had touched me the most. When I loved a book but feel like it's time to let go, I just do it. 🙂❤
Regarding your book sorting system: I've seen a booktuber only doing stand alones by color, so that series can stick together. Probably gonna do that too
I recently got rid of like 40 something books and I’ll be getting some cash for it, I sent it to one company who repurposes them and sells them to new people so they still get enjoyed. I have small bookshelve and had to get rid of some books definitely, with the money I’ll buy new ones ✨
I feel the same about midnight library i don’t understand the hype around it I was sooooo bored reading couldn’t wait to finish it but took me awfully long time to finish
I loved this so much! I wish we had little libraries in my country, it’s such a lovely concept Also, I wonder what were the books your older neighbor donated, do you remember any? I’d find it so interesting
I prefer standalones too :) I dnfed the wreck the halls SO QUICK but then i read it happened one summer the next day and it was so good. i seriously need to unhaul my copy of wreck the halls stat. Oh nooo i love and then there were none it's my favourite agatha christie oop 🙈 but she's not for everyone. good job unhauling!! I unhauled beach read too. Meh read. I did like exit west though.
My criteria: I hated it, I DNF'd it, I will never read it (tastes do change), and I won't reread it (ever or anytime soon). I give away books I enjoy. I think it's OK to keep one or two books from a series if I start liking it. I also have to remind my self that I can read it even if I don't own it. Libraries do exist. Also, some book series are so big I just keep them in ebook format. Other things to remember: It's nice to pass on books to someone who will appreciate them. Life lesson: Not every book is for you. Also, perfection is the enemy of progress - you can unhaul a book later if it's too hard to decide now. Maintaining a library is a process, not a one-time task.
You are nutty, and I love it!😂 I get rid of hates, no longer interested/applies, just ok. I don't have a ton of books, but agood portion are sentimental even though i don't want to read them again.
Would argue for Jenny Khan trilogy! I have read all three books like in 4 days (my Ukrainian edition from "Ranok") and ended up so desperately loving them. I'm 35yo was having so many sad and funny nostalgic moments about how I was about 15-16 having first love and all those 'important' things. But you are right it can work much better for teens bc they are on the same page with characters.
tbh a good girls guide to murder goes absolutely off the rails in the last book (in a good way) and its nothing like book 1, it gets very dark very quickly
YESS!! The intro was 👨🏻🍳💋🤌🏼 I love mulan!! Also how many book hauls have you made recently?? My parents put me on a book buying ban so I have to read all the ones I have first😭😭
I have my books by genre and I have a spot for all the series I have yet to read (that shelf is really full😅). I also flip my books so I only see the spines of the books I need to read so I'm not constantly tempted to reread the books I love 😂

When it comes to series, I'll buy the first one on a kindle and if I love it I'll get the physical copies as trophies for my shelf. If it's only okay, I'll just read the ebook version

I agree! I love my shelves so much more now!

I swear you're my fav booktuber, you make us feel in such a friendly environment!! You are great Khalilah 😁💗
Wow, thank you! you just made my day 💜
your energy is SO good, i've never subbed to someone so fast
lol happy you’re here! 🫶🏽
I love getting rid of books that i dont like! Also I love the singing at the start, and the threat to burn American Psycho 😂😂😂😂

I swear that movie has the best songs 😭
IT DOES

Hi Khalilah! Just wanted to say that your videos genuinely make my day. Whenever I watch a video of yours, either I smile or I laugh or I talk to the screen as if you can hear me lol. Its always a treat! Sending much love
As soon as I saw ‘The 7/12 deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle’ on that TBR cart I was like “Just let that one go, babe, no need to even read it” 🤣
Is it bad 😩
I really enjoyed it 🤷
Oh I’ve been wanting to read that. What didn’t you like about it??
Nooo, I loved that book 😭
4:44 You are my type of reader. I am NOT a fan of reading series. I don’t like the commitment and my ADHD/anxiety is just not here for it. I need completion.
Right?! I’m happy to see I’m not the only one 😅
@@khalilahd. You’re telling me! You’re basically the only BookTuber who doesn’t read series, and I for real love you for it.

you’re literally so funny which I loveee! I love your videos and your energy
Talking about series I read & loved The Summer I Turned Pretty. I read it spring of ‘23 & I read all 3 in like a week and a half
bookshelf video is now the only thing that can keep me going

Please collab!
lol I really didn’t think that part through 😫 but I had so much fun giving away books! Now I see why you do it so often!
I agree about series these days. They are way too hit or miss and my heart can’t handle the misses 🥺
Literally so proud of you. I have so many books I don't like but for some reason can't get rid of them 😂😂
Gosh you're an upbeat lady. I wish everybody could be like you. Plus, you like the same kinds of books I do. 😊
I love your energy. We seem to have similar reading taste, at least in contemporary fiction. I am glad I found your page. ❤

Enjoy the best of both worlds-- do the rainbow for each genre !
books by genre would be so cool to see!
Khalilah you need to read all of the Agggtm series it was so good I loved it!
i do feel like you would love A Thousand Heartbeats by Kiera Cass! it is so good, and so fast-paced. i love your videos so much! love ya
I love that all this chaos ensues alone in your room while you film it
Regarding your book sorting system: I've seen a booktuber only doing stand alones by color, so that series can stick together. Probably gonna do that too
Aahhhhhhh reorganising the bookshelf!!!🤗 I personally like to go by genre/vibe🤓
I have never seen one of your videos. But after that Mulan intro, I instantly subbed.
Haha Welcome aboard!
Reading the goldfinch right now it’s SO good so far
The way you got me listening to i'll make a man out of you.... just from that i got it stuck in my head all day 🤣
I have like binged your videos today, you have just gained a sub!! 🫶❤️
a good way to sort the book shelf is realism to magic
I love how you said you hated books in a way that you would say when you love a book
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS AND CRAZINESS!!!! ♥️♥️🤪
haha Thank you! 😅
No problem !
your energy and personality remind me so much of Zahra from The Fine Print
You should definitely redo the bookshelf by genres. I think it will turn out pretty good. 📚
I love the rainbow shelves!
Yess please update the bookshelve by like a vibe

Just when I was missing my girl!!! Also bestie I just finished Eleanor oliphant yesterday!!!

Love love LOVE an unhaul 🤍
I unhaul my books in free tiny libraries too
I love your energy! Great video Xx
Yeah I made that same mistake with series books..
I donate books that I didn't love but were ok, and the books that were so bad I couldn't finish.
KHALIAH! PLEASE READ THE GIVER QUARTET! It's the best dystopian series I've ever read and impossible to put down!
I feel the same about midnight library i don’t understand the hype around it I was sooooo bored reading couldn’t wait to finish it but took me awfully long time to finish
I just brought the book "AND THEN THERE WERE NON " BY Agatha Christie. And I was really exited about it ❤❤❤. I really hope that i like this book.
Yes, update the bookshelf! By genres.
Oh my gosh I love mulan! The second I saw that you were singing it I was like “That’s my Kalilah!”
