Wish I could be there!
Just hop on a flight to Pisa. The gracious hosts of my knitting course will take of everything else. And we'll have a wonderful week exploring the magic of mosaic knitting. Cheers, James
I found the pattern on Ravelry. The sweater on the girl mannequin doesn't seem to be a V-neck. Is there choice in the pattern or is it the way she wears it? V-neks don't suit me very well.
Hello again. The pattern is written as a V-neck. If you prefer, just work the shaping on each side of the front neck with an increase every other row on the neck edge to about 2.5" to 3" below the back of the neck, then simply knit across on the next row. I think it should work well for you. Enjoy!
Great video. So simple. The sweater you're wearing is absolutely gorgeous. Can I have ne name of the pattern and yarn used. I stumbled on your video, great discovery. Thanks.😊
Marie, thank you for your very nice note. The sweater I was wearing is called Jason. You will find it on my web site, jamescoxknits.com. I have just completed a matching scarf, which I hope to release soon. The yarn is Lana Knits all hemp6, and the color is called Sprout. What a cute effect! I’m having trouble visualizing how one would go about tinking those stitches though. Might be easier to life line it if push came to shove haha. Thanks for the video!
Прекрасні краєвиди ! ❤❤❤
I wasn't looking for anything on helical knitting, just stumbles on your video but am so impressed by how well presented this was, you earned a sub! Thanks James, look forward to more videos :)
What a wonderful idea. My worst problem is evenly spacing increases and decreases
Another fun knit! The effect is really cool!
Thanks Yvonne - glad you like this. James
I like this stitch when done in contrasting color. Works also when there is 2 stitches in between the horizontal stitch.

Ooh, this looks fun! I need to play around with this and figure out how to do it with the working yarn in my left hand. I can't for the life of me switch to the right, it feels impossible.
I know how you feel. For 45 years I've been a thrower. The only time I feel comfortable picking is when I'm knitting in reverse. What do you mean when you say "there are no jogs and no floats"
Hello, When I say a jog I mean that the row of stitches "jogs" from one row to the next when you change colors. Floats are when you are carrying the yarn on the wrong side of your work from one row to the next or from one switch to another across the back of the row. I hope this helps. Cheers, James
Thank you for this wonderful video. Besides learning something new, it’s a real pleasure to listen to your precise descriptions.
Your note is very nice - thank you! I hope you will visit my website, jamescoxknits.com and while there sign up for my newsletter, James' Knit Notes. Cheers, James
Wonderful and exactly what I was looking for! What if you did the fourth row with yarn in back, as well?
Hello - If I understand your question, slipping the stitches in back for the 4th row means your slip stitch will only be one row tall, and you'll have a stand of yarn over the front of the slip stitch on the right side for the fourth row. Try it and if you like the look, you'll have a different stitch pattern. Cheers, James
Thank you for showing & sharing this way of casting on. Very helpful. Thanks 🙏🏼 😊

I like how clear your camera focus is, how slowly you work each stitch, and how your words are precise. To cap it all off beautifully, you explain the characteristics and finished appearance of the cast on. (This is a format all yarn craft teachers might follow!)

Thank you for this cast on method. 🤍 I have abandoned my knitting for quite a while, because I am not very fond of casting on traditionally. But with this trick my motivation returned and now I am working on a scarf.
This is the same as the invisible cast on? Never heard this name....
Hi there. This is not the same as the invisible cast on, which I always use when starting double knitting. This one creates a lovely visible cast on edge with a double row of stitches. Have fun!
You’re so cool! I cast on differently from everyone else here on the internet and my edge is like yours. I think maybe is also a Portuguese style like the way I knit with the yarn around my neck. ( Btw I’m Portuguese 😊) I’m going to check your tutorials for sure. Thanks for sharing this technique. 🙏👌🤩
Thanks so much for your kind words! I've heard of Portuguese knitting and it looks like fun. I'm also planning to go to Portugal!. Danke. Vielen Dank
I'm glad you like this stitch. Thanks, James
how would you finish the joining the tail when done in the round?
I’d like to know also…can this be used as a stretchy cast on for socks?
Why join the tail? You knit to the slip stitch and don't knit it but drop it. The slip stitch will un slip stitch and just be a straight tail of yarn.
@@dw9463 Hello, I haven't tried this cast on for socks, but using it makes sense to me. If you try it out, please let me know if you like the results. Cheers, James
