Even if I forget all the details, the sheer scale of the Capital Ships in relation to your teeny-tiny fighter will always stay with me...oh yeah...and the Sound of Anti-Fighter Flak and Beam Cannons - at least in FS 2. Loved the progression in FS 1, though. No shields, just armor and some pea-shooter Lasers...until some time after the bad, black-red Aliens showed up.

I know that there are some awesome mod campaigns out there, even Blue Planet, but it's crazy that we never got an Official continuation of this story after FreeSpace 2. I remember being like 13-14, and writing my shitty middle-school fantasies of what a continuation story could look like for FreeSpace 3, but that was 25 years ago. I wish I had known about this stream ahead of time and tuned in for it, I always love some FreeSpace content.

I loved Freepace. The only thing that I didn't like about it was that there was no cockpit (without mods), only a HUD (unlike in Wing Commander and the X-Wing series, which added immersion).

Played both Freespace with keyboard only. It works. using your right hand on the keys to turn. no rolls.
