"You see Riesstiu. You're not dealing with the average Kushan anymore. We... have finally become the legend of our ancestors...the legend you now fear."
Also, yes, Somtaaw archangels did stand in for the Ancient Hiigaran warships.

Rieestiu: "Oh my Sajuuk..."
I feel like we've been here before, have we been here before?
Oh my god this is happening again.
*starts headpalming like some white nude alien with a tail*
Heh, imagine if there's suddenly confirmation that the ancient Hiigarans really did have reverse engineered Bentusi tech.
Now on to the Beast War and the rise of Kith Somttaaw
@@Brendan1259 BEAST WARS!!!!!!/BEASTIES!!!!!!!
14:46 That fleet formation creating the shape of the Taiidan emblem is GLORIOUS.
UNREAL, even.
I got chills when I saw it
I originally made it for the teaser awhile back but I couldn't get it to look right with the flow of the video. Good thing I still kept the formation in my files though.
Missing from the official report; the many instances of the Kushan yanking EVERY ENEMY VESSLE THAT WASNT NAILED DOWN.
That big one at the research station? Yoinked.
Most of the heavier ones at the gravwell ambush? Yoinked (as soon as the generators went down anyway)
"But this beast had never faced a group as tenacious or capable as the Kushan before"... forgot to mention "an entire fleet of salvage corvettes" XD
Such are the Salvage Corvette -Yaghootsa- Mafia.
@@michaelandreipalon359 The Kushan have a saying, originating ironically enough from the Galsien;
"Hippity hoppity, your shit is now our property."
@@KillerOrca At this point Im convinced that all the salvage corvettes were driven by Gaalsien survivors, who, outside of ship operations, would incessantly tease the rest of the Kushan fleet with various degrees of "I told you so!".
It would also explain why Fleet Command was always sending them to near suicidal capture missions....
@@LtCWest Head cannon accepted
8:30 The Taiidani rebellion and how it started is always one of my favorite bits.
Something that I think is also worth mentioning... Riesstiu IV the Second not only ordered the Burning of Kharak, but the madman ordered *propaganda* made out of it. He literally went bragging to his Empire about this horrific act and how he'd wiped out the old evil Hiigarans and proved the power of the Taiidani Empire, etc etc. Then he was all surprised pikachu face when, instead of applauding him, a large chunk of his empire was horrified enough to decide that now or never, this madman needed to go.
Also, Riesstiu IV the Second has the weird name because he's a clone of the original Riesstiu IV (named after Riesstiu I who was the Taiidani admiral turned emperor who exiled the Hiigarans in the first place. Also worth noting, ancient Hiigarans were kiiiinda dicks and arguably deserved at least some of what was coming to them). If I remember rightly, Riesstiu IV the First was a real nice guy, he was so paranoid and power hungry that he had all his heirs and family murdered and then, upon his death, had his memories uploaded into a clone body to continue ruling, but things didn't work out so nicely, and the influx of memories without any natural formative stuff drove the clone insane, but not many people really realized it until it was too late.
Nice video, though, well done.
Riesstiu: "Hey Galaxy, check out this cool genocide I did on those stupid ex-Hiigarans."
Rest of the Galaxy: "Uh, that's kind of a crime against Humanity (or whatever term would be used). You're a monster".
Riesstiu: *Shocked Pikachu Face*
I'm sick as a dog but a Mac's Lore Homeworld video is just what the doctor ordered! Great end to the HW1 storyline!
I agree the stupid guard dog cannot be destroyed in the old skool
At least you're not as dead as the Junkyard Dawg.
Get well soon.
I love how you included the Junkyard dog exploit as an actual tactic. Great Video/Series BTW
Next stop, Homeworld Cataclysm.
Concurring.
@@michaelandreipalon359 Yes
He already did a few videos on at least some of the lore, just not the story arc.
The Qwaar-Jet always falls. Falls into the hands of my salvage corvettes.
I'm willing to bet that the gravity well ambush was for the Capella, and the Kushan just stumbled on it and screwed the Taiidan over.
Also triggering even more paranoia into Riesstu.
Bahahaha that is my head canon now XD
Here's an interesting bit of lore: The headshot asteroid was a delay tactic so the Taiidan Emperor could as mentioned, recall the remainder of the Taiidan fleet to Hiigara but more importantly, so that he would have enough time to focus on Karan Sjet and kill her with a Telekinetic assault. Upon arrival at Hiigara, Karen Sjet is unresponsive and in a critical condition (as mentioned by Fleet Intelligence) because she was literally blasted out of her "neural tank" that she was submerged in and the cables and connections to her brain were violently ripped out.
The Emperor being a clone also suffered from genetic degeneration which left him very sick and unable to live normally without the aid of machines so, he too was inside a type of "neural tank" and connected to the empire through servers, computers and neural links. This is how he was able to live for centuries and gain so much knowledge and mental capability, his body was weak and frail but his mind was very powerful.
You've brought to life what I've been waiting to hear for over 20 years. An end to the Hiigarans struggle to reach their own homeowrld and put an end to the Taiidan Empire.
As a Hiigaran supporter, I salute you, sir! 🫡🫡🫡
I was just a young man when I first played through this game, truly the first of it's kind in three dimensional RTS games and it was HARD at that time not knowing all the tricks that people developed over the years.
I still get shivers thinking about the amount of attempts some of those missions took and the lasting PTSD they gave me.
For that reason though it lives on in my memory as one of the most favourite games that I ever beat.
You did so epic, they should make this a mini series like battlestar.
No need. We don't want another Chris Carter-esque debacle with an unplanned Season 3 onwards.
Great work. Thanks for getting me ready for Homeworld 3!
I'll say, but I really hope it won't be another surprise downer as Dawn of War III or Homeworld 2.
@@michaelandreipalon359 turns out, Honeworld 2 story is masterpiece if we compare it to Homeworld 3 plot. SANDS AND SINNERS!
@@Drake77Warlord It is as I've feared. Still not a fan of HW2, though. Motherkarking unfair dynamic difficulty and out-of-nowhere plot just can't be r done...
@@michaelandreipalon359 I treated HW 2 like DoW 2 - Very good game, but not as good as previous title. Sure the plot was very bad (although I never had problem with difficulty scaling) but at the same time they improved some aspects like better camera control, subsystems etc. Also I personally prefered squadron mechanic for fighters/corvettes.
Vaygr weren't interesting enemies, but their ships were one of the coolest in franchise, only next to the Taiidans.
Keeper theme is by far my favourite music in Homeworld franchise.
Last but definitely not the least, HW 2 was great game for modding, one of my favourite mods is FX galaxy because finally I could play HW scenarios as non-Hiigaran race.
@@Drake77Warlord At least DoW2 has the mercy of staying canon alongside DoW1 (minus Soulstorm) in my eyes. HW2 is AU apocrypha!
I assume you play with the Players Patch to remedy the absurd difficulty scaling of HW2.
Great music and ship designs are nothing when the rest of the game feels off.
Don't see any high quality, fully voiced fan campaigns though, unlike the likes of Half-Life 1+2 and FreeSpace 2.
I could only imagine how strong the Taiidan would have become if they had the third core.
Ugh, I'd rather headcanon that nonsense out.
I gave this a thumbs up before it even started.
Same for the lot of us.
The Junyard Dawg was a good salvage-tug boi, just doing its programmed instincts. kinda feel sorry for it.
Preach!
Dudes editing skills are on point. Sounds like a cutscene right out of the game
My one contention with your explanation of the battles is that im pretty positive most people's playthroughs involved boosting, shipjacking, and stealing so many enemy warships that most of our fleets ended up being turanic and taidani in their makeup
by the last mission the fleet is well past the edge of the map.
@@christopherwyatt9754 I feel like they changed something in the remastered version because I did not find it as easy to capture that many. But yes, old testament HW fleets were gigantic
@@beezzarro don't ask what the Beast is a reflection of after this. I only found out tonight myself. And it is not wrong.
I remember how easy the last battle was as I spent the whole game stealing every single heavy cruiser the game provided me.
Easily 20 years since I played HW for the first time, I remember the Banthusi projecting the history lesson on the void below it, breathtaking.
Tha you for this!
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe: attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those... moments... will be lost in time, like... tears... in rain".
*Counting down to the hopeful date of March 8, 2024...* another timely release this is. (Edit: *Or May 13.* These delays, seriously...)
The title of "Riesstiu IV, the Second" really brings into mind pretentiousness on cloning dependencies.
3:15: *(thinks of Cataclysm)* How the hells did you nearly fall so easily, Bentusi?
Guess the Taiidan seen things people wouldn't believe, like attack ships snagged to pirated oblivion by measly tugboats.
5:19: *(thinks of Deserts of Kharak)* Not just one, but even so, that very ship was the more fortunate of them all.
#JunkyardDawgDidNothingWrong
Heh, you sure didn't waste time on introducing the Hyperspace Inhibitor.
Love the reference to Batman: The Animated Series S1E46 - "Almost Got 'Im" for the asteroid chapter.
Darn, was expecting to see the rocky looking Galactic Council ships.
In the end, the Salvage Corvette "Yaghootsa" sure stayed unsung. Not sure if that's a badge of honor or a trifling sin.
Next stop, the brush wars against the Taiidani Imperialist remnants and their Turanic Raider pawns... alongside the Beast War (and I don't mean Transformers or Star Wars Legends' Tales of the Jedi).
Gonna have to extend that countdown a bit...
@@Tayvin4042 Edited.
@@michaelandreipalon359 heh, yeah the delays are annoying but if it means we'll get a complete game rather then yet another buggy mess at release, then it'll be worth it.
@@Tayvin4042 Time will tell. Even if it's no buggy mess, I sure hope the story is not on par with the mess that is Homeworld 2, all while the gameplay isn't as overly chaotic as Early Access reviewers like MandaloreGaming deem it to be.
@@michaelandreipalon359 Considering that the lead writer for Homeworld 3 was also not only involved with the story of Homeworld 1, but was also the lead writer for Cataclysm, I'm confident the writing for 3 is in good hands.
As for gameplay and the responses in Early Access, I think that's why the big delays happened, which at least tells me the devs are willing to listen and improve things. Will it be improved by release? We'll have to wait and see but overall I'm quite optimistic.
Fantastic last part of epic lore from this Masterpiece. Homeworld was, is and always will be the perfecf game I have ever played in my life 😊 Thank you a lot for this little series 😊
10:19 the funny thing with my fight with the junkyard dog was that It took my harvester after when all the portals gone It just sat there just taking damage. (I sent in fighters first so I can deal with the portals and turrets and thought all the portals were gone) after It was destroyed my harvester got stuck for that mission.
this is banger production man
Great video, been looking forward to seeing your telling of Homeworld’s story continue! Excited to see how you tackle what comes next!
Was waiting a while for this! Nice one!
Amazing video great work ❤
This is so well done. Thank you
Great job with this series mate,
great watch
One of the first here. And I got to say amazing video so far (0:36)
very well done i love the game and the lore and you capture the nostalgic feeling of the first time i play the game , nice job
Another great video of a game that is truly still one of the best RTS ever made. Thanks for your awesome work, can't wait for season 2.
Fantastic video like always. Glad that the Homeworld story is coming along so nicely. Can't wait to see you do Homeworld 2 and eventually Homeworld 3
Very beautiful Homeworld video Mac Lore 😊🎉
Your channel deserves more views and subs!!
Very well made, I really enjoyed this series, I was somewhat confused what was happening in the homeworld games but this cleared things up.
Man I love your episodes ever since i started to play homeworld again, thank you for explaining so many stuff that I didn't know and I hope that you're already working on Homeworld 2 lore since I wish to know much more on either Vaygr or the mysterious The Keepers!
Babe wake up new homeworld lore video just dropped
The Qwaar-Jet never fell, actually. It joined the Kushan fleet, if you know what I mean.
And even invited other vessels of it kind to join the glorious Kushan fleet, too many to the point that no Kushan Battle Cruiser was needed.
the Battle for HomeWorld is Over, Begun has the Toilet Paper War
Oh my, this is going to be crazy!!
Wait, I didn't have fly strikecrafts over the graveyard to avoid the junk dog? Well I'll be damned
The original models rendered at a high quality with all those effects and post processing are super cool. How long did all of this take you?
I'll say the same.
asset flipping is easy
Love it. Freelancer next please!
Being stuck in with Covid, this has brightened my weekend
Love this video who of this multi part series about the homeworld wars. But you didn't mention that. Kara insisted to be the last to disembark and step foot on their Ancestral homeworld
This gets me excited for HW3
WAIT I COULD HAVE USED A GRAVTIY WELL ON THE JUNKYARD DOG?! GODDAMIT LMAO
I love the story it beautiful, can't wait next HW2 lore 😊
...Am apathetic to that strange sequel, especially when people like MandaloreGaming deem its quality in Rise of Skywalker levels of wrongness.
Still, will await Cataclysm/Emergence and Deserts of Kharak.
This is a really impressive video and I really enjoy this series
13:40 I do have to point out that's the wrong asteroid though. It has the strip engines of the Kushan and not the circular engines of the Taiidan
Ohhh...i thought this was the first war, where the higarians beat the taidana with long jumps. And set off the exodus
Mac another excellent Homeworld video. Love the use of the models and such. Any plans to continue into the homeworld cataclysm/emergence and homeworld 2 ?
FINALLY
Kickass
Groovy.
Schway!
Homeworld best
Cant wait for your videos on homeworld 2
Any eta?
Sure hope you will do
both HW2 and HW3.
I'd like to reiterate my interest in your covering Operation: Grain Snatch in the events of the first X-Wing game. Thanks, and Merry Christmas.
Agreed. More steps closer to the far better TIE Fighter, and we're golden!
@@michaelandreipalon359 Interesting idea. Which part of TIE Fighter, though? The campaign against Zaarin, perhaps?
@@Falchion1984 Just go with the origins stuff of The Stele Chronicles bits first, and then the Outpost D-34 campaign.
i still cant believe were lucky enough to get this for free
Such a shame that the Emperor died... We shall rise again
If this is related to Homeworld Mobile, why not to examine the series...
I wonder if you plan on doing emergence or just skip it an go straight too homeworld 2 cause the event of emergence it kind of did happen but it sorta consider none cannon.
It's canon, don't worry.
What happened to the Taiidan Civil Population on Hiigara ?
