I still remember finishing the final mission in the Garden, feeling triumphant and then this story point gets thrown at you. Brilliantly told mate, can't wait for the rest of the series
The last stand of the Kadeshi always seemed especially sad, like their final mothership limped back home for sanctuary, and then in despair didn't resist when my fleet followed it to finish the job. Of course, it's not like the Hiigarans didn't make every effort to solve the conflict nonviolently, even before they determined that they and the Kadeshi were related and had a common enemy. And the Kadeshi could have left or turned off their hyperspace inhibitors at any time, so I'm not all that broken up about it. The Kadeshi's making every first-contact situation an immediate fight to the death is ultimately a case of "play stupid games, win stupid prizes".
It isn’t really so one sided, both the Kushan and Kadeshi had valid reasons to stay their courses. The Kushan wanting to reclaim their homeworld and believing their technology and tactics could defeat the Taiidan. The Kadeshi meanwhile still remembered legends of the Taiidan daemons destroying their people and banishing them to a life hidden in the Nebula. From their perspective the Taiidan were too powerful, and would learn of the Kadeshi if the Kushan were allowed to leave.. It really is a tragic situation for both parties..

12:23 Hey, I recognize that transport design! Listening to what happens when a cruise missile full of Beast nanites hits a boatload of defenseless civilians is one of the most horrifying experiences I've ever had from a game.
I remember getting Homeworld the very day it launched. I found out about it just by happen stance. I was browsing the web and it popped up in an advertisement and I was all about space, sci-fi strategy games. I checked out their website to see what it was all about and I was completely sold. I packed up and immediately headed to Best Buy. The most compelling part about it, was the story and the lore. I would've been ok with just a mindless, surface level story, with the gameplay being as good as it was but getting an amazing story along with it, was fantastic. The band Yes! also wrote a song specifically for the game which I thought was pretty cool. I ended up buying their album too which is actually pretty good. I had never heard of them before hearing their "Homeworld" song. Great times, great memories playing that game...I really appreciate you putting together these lore videos. I think the Homeworld franchise doesn't get nearly enough attention.
Everyone stubbornly miss the fact there's another ship wreck next to the Kadesh prison ship (both in classic and remastered version) -- an ancient Hiigaran Carrier, like the ones seen in Karos Graveyard. Perhaps the prison ships picked up a signal from a surviving Hiigaran vessel, hiding in the Great Nebula since their navy's dismentalment. But only the Kadesh ancestors decided to answer the call. Perhaps there was a heated debate between the ships' captains over whether they're being watched and it's safe to stray off-course. If it was the first ship they've attempted to construct, but failed due to lacking proper blueprints, they'd take it apart for resources. Instead it remains right next to their Khar-Toba, like a revered relic.
Hey Kids, dont forget Homeworld 3 can be pre-ordered on their Steam page: store.steampowered.com/app/1840080/Homeworld_3/ . While I'm guessing most (if not all) of you know about it already, it can't hurt to have a link to it here. Also: Homeworld Revelations - www.modiphius.net/products/homeworld-core-rulebook
Pass. Even if the game is great, one's better off waiting for a so called GotY/Definitive Edition so to get the best of things. Plus, pre-orders are a bane if one played the likes of Fallout: New Vegas, Chrono Trigger, and Batman: Arkham Knight during launch... don't worry, they're now polished, which makes me feel irate with the recent complaints on specific bad PC port launches.
in hindsight.. looking at the map and the strange nebula that was totally devoid of all enemy presence and fortifications despite the fact that it looks like a SUPER obvious flanking route on paper, yet the enemy didnt bother to defend what looks like an obvious flank/way through their defense, and everyone seemingly avoided it... This Probably should of been a pretty telling clue as to what was about to happen when you try to go through it.
I think it funny people still fight over witch homeworld Original or remastered line reads they like better. Like pronunciation from the same voice actors. It just shows how much passion the fan base still has for this game. Love your videos!
Funny, maybe, but justification is all too common. Still, at least the divisiveness isn't as bad as OG Resident Evil 3 vs. Resident Evil 3 "Reimagining".

One of my favorite parts of the story, the Garden of Kadesh, I was really freaking terrified the first time I heard the envoy, amazing storytelling, thank you!
I remember my first time playing Homeworld and seeing those massive forces of Swarmers. I was so panicked and I have lost many times 😅 and even when I managed to win, The Cathedral of Kadesh makes me cry from another lose. But now when I see those Swarmers coming to Mothership I say: "Ahh s**t! Here we go again" XD The story of Kadeshi is actually sad when we learned that they were from Hiigaran people. Kill our brothers and sisters to reach a Hiigara, to regain our Homeworld and Kadeshi were so stubborn that they preferred to die in order to protect their Garden. Amazing video and I can't wait for another part. Thank you 😉
The Kadeshi also had the frightening multibeam frigate. Four full powered ion cannons, equivalent to the firepower of a heavy cruiser. Even with the swarmers all over, those things are a priority target, or your warships will be cut to pieces. Also this is where the Kushans brought out the multigun corvette. Bring a gang of those to the field, and anything short of Frigate weight will be made to go away rather permanently.
I always liked that the history of the Kushan, Taiidan, Kadeshi, Bentusi etc. That none of them is just "good" or "bad" historically. The attack on Kharak is sort of heartbreaking.
Anytime I see an upload from you I get extremely excited. You cover all the niche stuff. Wing Commander, Crimson Skies, Homeworld, etc. It is always a better day. Thank you so much
Love these videos and can tell you put a lot of work into them. This mission really hit hard as it seemed the Kadeshii were exterminated in a genocide by their own lost brothers and sisters. I still, to this day, don’t quite believe they were all killed but some may have stolen away, ready to rebuild….or perhaps there was a larger craft (battle station?) that was too far away to assist during this incursion.
This should at least slake the thirst for more Homeworld, what with another karking HW3 delay. The description text on the Pod is so relatable. Rare to hear a first-timer easily beat the Garden missions, that's for sure. Well, may HW3 give us a surprising return of Kadeshi remnants, if not a Garden-esque showdown.
I was wondering if someone would notice what I wrote there. But then again at this point, I shouldn't be surprised when I add these little easter-egg bits lol.

There's no way the Kadeshi were fully destroyed. There has to be something, somewhere big enough to mfg those mothership sized needles they enjoy so much.
Always awesome to see improvements in your videos. It is sad, tragedy and fitting fate of the Kedeshi, though is the Homeworld rpg canon? If so it does mean some survived both joining with their kushan brethren and some other staying within the nebula.
That would be from the Homeworld Revelations Tabletop RPG Corebook by Modiphius. It's got a whole bunch of different Homeworld illustrations to aid in the lore and rulesets it describes.
