    For some odd reason I have that lens and the z7 ii, but it won’t capture a picture unless there is a light or a light source illuminating the foreground. When I point it at the night sky and it’s dark the camera will not take the picture. Is it on a certain setting that I have to switch off? Is it trying to focus on something and can’t do it won’t take the picture? And I need to turn the focus off, please help :😢

      Should be able to fix it in your a1: AF-C Priority Election settings from the custom settings menu. Change it from Focus to Release. You’ll also want to do the same on the a2: AF-S Priority Election setting. The setting being set to Focus means the camera has to be in focus for a photo to be taken. Make sure to change it back though if you like using that for other photo types. I’d also recommend making sure you’re in manual focus mode.

    • @willchaneyphoto

      Dual refers to it being able to tilt both horizontally and vertically as compared to other Z series cameras that can only tilt along a single axis. But yes, it does move outwards towards you as well. Kind of weird they don’t call it tilt and pan or something to that effect.

  • @EliudGilSamaniego
    @EliudGilSamaniego Месяц назад

    i think that the interval is the total time between exposures, you dont have to count the time of the exposure plus the saving time. i mean if i want to take a timelapse startrail of 30s exposures i just put in the exposure time 30s and in the interval i can put .5s or 1s and then it will take that many picuteres with only .5 s between each shot.

    • @willchaneyphoto
      @willchaneyphoto Месяц назад

      So what’s happening in the background though is your camera is trying to take a photo every 1 second. You’ll still catch your next shot, but your exposure count will have gone down by 30 photos. It definitely works, but you have to make sure to take that into account when you set how many shots you want to take total.

  • @Aphorism89
    @Aphorism89 Месяц назад

    I find it to be a bit overpriced, the 24-200 ends up being quite similar but it costs 35/40% less on the second hand market. The 200S is probably 15% better at 24MP, probably 25% at 45MP So if you are shooting 24MP, Its simply not that much of an upgrade vs the cheaper 200... It comes down to trading stops for reach But then again, you will rarely ever shoot at less than F4 outdoors...

    Focus stacking? I think you mean Focus Bracketing. With Nikon, Focus Stacking is done in post, not in the camera. I really wish reviewers would figure out the difference.

    • @willchaneyphoto
      @willchaneyphoto Месяц назад

      Technically, Nikon uses the term Focus Shift Shooting. I’m well aware that focus bracketing is how you take the photo and stacking is what you do in post. For whatever reason at the time of making the video I chose to just say that focus stacking is a feature of the camera since both have the focus shift shooting option which is used for focus stacking.

    For aviation photography I use the Nikon z8 with the Nikkor z 180-600. Actually, the lens is also my sports and wildlife lens. This lens works best at golden hour light and beyond at f8 for its sweet spot. Not THAT heavy to hold with the z8 but at the end of the air show your arms are tired. Some airshows the flybys are close so 600mm is too much. Again, amazing at F8 how sharp this lens gets.

      It really depends on your situation. If money is tight and you just want to get into photography a used Z6 is going to be incredible. The Zf is a better camera, but the Z6 isn’t going to let you down unless you plan to shoot a lot of fast moving subjects. What is the quality of the viewfinder when shooting in low light or stars at night?

    • @willchaneyphoto
      @willchaneyphoto 2 месяца назад

      It’s pretty terrible, but I think that’s expected both on the EVF and the screen due to low light since the sensor is what produces the image. But it’s never caused me any issue in getting the shot. One trick to align everything for the composition is to take a 2-3 second photo at the highest ISO setting to align everything then go to the exposure you need for the shot you want.

    "Long Exposure Noise Reduction" reduces mostly hot pixels and sensor noise. You'll probably want this because of the improved image quality and fewer hot pixels (stuck to bright red, green or blue). Yes, it takes a bit of time. But personally I would leave it on. If I'm in a hurry, I might turn it off for exposures of 10 seconds or more.

    The lens resets to "infinity" focus regardless if its on AF or MF on the camera or the lens, being that infinity focus is rarely ever actually infinity focus and you have to go beyond infinity to get pin sharp stars i would actually recommend turning this ON so that if for what ever reason you camera goes off you don't need to have to re focus every time. This is lesson I've had to learn. for reference I'm on a Z9. Ive has so many photos out of focus because of this issue which never happened on my F series gear :(
