Thanks for the comparison. 👍 I would add to be fair, that the Z6III can shoot 4K at 120 FPS with a 1.5 crop which can be handy. So I think that is good to know. And it can also shoot 1080p at 240fps. Cheers!
Excellent overview and comparison! One point about the Z8 re: heat, you just need to use the right CFE-B card. Delkin Black, ProGrade Cobalt, and a few others. Can go much much longer than 20 minutes non-stop rec.
Great video Sir! I own the z9 and i just received the z6iii. I Got it not only to be my backup camera, but intended to use it more for nightscape ( Milky Way) photography. So far no clear skies, hopping i will have a chance in the next few nights. Thank you so much again ☺️🙏🏻
Well done video comparison. Photographer now in my 70s. I got a Z 7II a year ago as my interest is mostly landscape. Price was excellent. Money went more for 4 S lenses. If I were younger, would have chosen the Z8 and likely a lens for birds. Very pleased to be back with Nikon after about a 20 year hiatus.
I have the Z6iii and it's a winner by a long shot with battery life, definitely with low light ,video, and pictures. There's not a huge difference from the z8 with pictures, maybe with the price, targeting and pixels but that's it. I give it a 9.9/10✅️
No doubt, the Z8 is a battery hog. The Z6III is a solid camera for the price. If I ever decide to replace my Z6 that’s now my secondary, the Z6III is likely what I’ll go to.
Depends on if your shooting Large, medium, or small for the image size settings. Large is 3984x2656 = 10.6MP. Medium is 2976x1992 = 5.9MP. Small is 1934x1328 = 2.5 MP.
Important to note the overheating warnings really only come into play in the 8K mode. The cf express cards used heavily influence the heat warnings. z8 is tough to beat.
That’s a good point. I definitely overlooked that. The overheat warning I experienced on mine was actually an interesting one that none of the other two cameras being worked experienced. When I was shooting the solar eclipse in April I was taking photos every 30s and just the camera being on and in the sun on a 75 degree day brought it on. Fixed it with a box fan and opening up memory card slot.
True but you can use adapter cf express to ssd with cable. no limitation :) But for me i can shoot 8k 60fps n-raw for 12min before hot card and until 20min before stop recording with cf express angelbird SE. some people also change the plate below the plastic z8 to replace it with a metal plate, and all the heat diffuses more easily with a cage.
Dual refers to it being able to tilt both horizontally and vertically as compared to other Z series cameras that can only tilt along a single axis. But yes, it does move outwards towards you as well. Kind of weird they don’t call it tilt and pan or something to that effect.
Great video comparison... Wish you would do one comparing the z6iii and the Zf. I don't really care about video capabilities, but a comparion of photography specs between these two would be great. Thanks!
Funny you say that, I recently realized how much interest there is in the Zf. I had written it off for a while as something I wouldn’t be interested in, but from what I’m seeing it’d be great to do a review on!
Hey, you're right! I'll have to dub over that part or something. I've got it right in my script notes, but somehow swapped those in the video when I recorded. Thanks for calling that out, that's pretty important spec difference for those shooting video and not one that I want to have a mistake on. I also double checked it and confirmed in the manuals. Max Frame Rates for Video: Z6III - 240 fps @ 1080 Z8 - 120 fps @ 1080
Focus stacking? I think you mean Focus Bracketing. With Nikon, Focus Stacking is done in post, not in the camera. I really wish reviewers would figure out the difference.
Technically, Nikon uses the term Focus Shift Shooting. I’m well aware that focus bracketing is how you take the photo and stacking is what you do in post. For whatever reason at the time of making the video I chose to just say that focus stacking is a feature of the camera since both have the focus shift shooting option which is used for focus stacking.
It’s funny you mention that, I remember when I was writing the script if I wanted to mention anything about N-raw capabilities which is where I decided not to and how the 60fps in 8k Raw was left off. Great point that it does have that capability when shooting in that format though!
Someone else point this out too. That's a point I was not aware of. Now I need to do a video on which memory cards overheat and which ones don't in this camera!
You can’t, but this also helps people trying to learn the differences between the two cameras so they can be better informed if trying to choose between the two :)
Dude, you said both cams (>$2500) have an electronic viewfinder 2.1 million dots! I was surprised and had to check the specs. The Z6-III's EVF is 5.76 m dots. You have Zero credibility for making a mistake on such a significant spec.
Everyone has a different need. Although in my situation I would choose the Z8 as well. But there was a time not long ago I would have gone with the Z6 III primarily because of money. It was videos like this that helped me in 2018 when I bought my Z6 to realize I was still getting a great camera even though I couldn’t justify a Z7. So I hope this video helps someone who’s trying to decide if the Z8 is really something they need or if the Z6 III will do what they need.
I do think there’s some marketing buzz around pixel shift, but it does have its uses. Reducing moire being one of them and the way it works I found to be really interesting. I also really like the ability in a landscape to crop in if I don’t have a long lens on me at the time.
Thanks for the comparison. 👍
I would add to be fair, that the Z6III can shoot 4K at 120 FPS with a 1.5 crop which can be handy. So I think that is good to know.

Very good points! I should have had that included. Thanks for adding it here.

Conclusion- ir you know the basics, you can take good photos even with Nikon z6. If you don’t know, even z8 can’t help you make a good photographer.
So much truth in that statement. The Z8 adds a few more features, but you still have to know how to use the camera.
AM struggling wth z 6iii autofocus
@@coblator2 I too had problem with z6Ii during intial days, Learned from mistakes.

For me, the grip on Z8 is the most comfortable I have ever held. Sensor shield is great for outdoor prime shooters.

Awesome! I can’t wait to test one with the Milky Way. I haven’t even had a chance to shoot the Milky Way with my Z8! Life’s been too busy.

Well said!
Awesome Review,! Very informative, thanks for the great detail in both of these camera's... Very nicely done!

Does the Z6III have the protective shield that comes down when you change lenses like the Z9?
@@tvfun32 Unfortunately, no.
also how many MP are in DX mode in Z6III?

I experienced the heat while shooting photographs in a hot weather so it goes beyond 8k and I shoot with reliable delkin cards.

Ups. I think the Z8 has 4 axis tilting screen not dual!
Dual refers to it being able to tilt both horizontally and vertically as compared to other Z series cameras that can only tilt along a single axis. But yes, it does move outwards towards you as well. Kind of weird they don’t call it tilt and pan or something to that effect.
For Birdphotography the Z8 is the only choice.
Yup, the dedicated bird mode and extra AF points are huge for those shooting birds.

Yup, still love mine! Shot most of the broll for this on mine.
Can Z8 shoot 240fps in 1080P? I thought only Z6iii could do but not Z8 🤔

Z9 and call it a day!
La ficha técnica la tenemos todos, necesitamos pruebas!!!
7:33 On Z6III, birds are under "Animal"
True, but there’s not a dedicated bird mode and the processor has to determine what it’s looking at which can cause delays in gaining focus.

You made a mistake, the z8 can shoot 60fps in 8k N-raw. :)

You omitted one key detail in the overheating. It's not the camera, its the cheap cards.
Someone else point this out too. That's a point I was not aware of. Now I need to do a video on which memory cards overheat and which ones don't in this camera!
Another one that tries to compare two cameras from two different classes at different prices. You can't get a Z8 for 2500$.
You can’t, but this also helps people trying to learn the differences between the two cameras so they can be better informed if trying to choose between the two :)

@@csc-photo would you compare BMW 760 Vs BMW 235?
