An update on the power test on the 1.25 meter band of the Baofeng UV-17 Pro GPS. The tx issue on 1.25 meters is now fixed in firmware version 1.03 onwards (and possibly in the older 1.28 firmware?.....don't have a 1.28 firmware model to test.....it was definitely faulty in firmware version 1.27).

I'm trying to share GPS info on 2x uv18 pro max but they don't want to communicate, I'm missing something? Thanks! Both same firmware/freq/settings one number 102 and the other 103. How can I set them in each other address book without a programming cable? Thanks!
@@Stratulatii unfortunately I don't think you can make an entry into the address book without connecting the radio to a computer and using software. It just can't be done from the keypad I'm afraid.
why did you show the programming software but not connect to it? egads mate i give up
@@starboy32 ...the review was a review of the hardware ie. the radio. Reviewing the software would probably be a separate video which I may do in the future but would have made the video too long. Thank you for your comment though.
Don't be fooled. This radio is completely deaf....
@@bra45 ...not in my experience....others may differ of course.
Excellent and thorough review. I'm sure you are going to save people getting headaches trying to program them with your advice. Nice little radios. 73 👍
@@BrayJaythe2nd Thank you. ❤️
Thx for your channel. Thx for that video. Just ordered right now.
@Slovan.nie.kolaborant I ordered a pair from Amazon and should have them Saturday. Seem like fun little radios. 👍
@@BrayJaythe2nd ....yes, I really like the Bluetooth programming feature on them. 👍😎
Unfortunately, these radios still violate FCC regulations when transmitting on 2m and 1.25cm. I just bought a pair because others had said that Baofeng fixed the lack of proper harmonic filtering. Unfortunately, the spurious emissions still violate the FCC rules (and put your ham license at risk) on 2m and 1.25m. On 2m, I get a good strong signal on the fundamental but also a good strong signal at the second (+19dBm) and third (-6.4dBm) harmonics. At 1.25m, the fundamental is strong (more than 4W) so any prior firmware issues with that have been solved, but the third harmonic is at -8.4dBm. 70cm seems to be OK. I'll be returning the radios.
Thank you.
Very big help. Thank you.
Hold down both of the side buttons hard and turn on the radio. It will go into to update mode. Baofeng K6. However, their is no custom firmware or official firmware out yet that I’ve seen. Hope to see them for this radio!
Reed the manual the om3 it dont got TTL/OTF you can use the pc cord and dont put the camera in manual mode to get the TTL/OFT to work on om2 om2n om4 om4ti the only whos got ttl/oft in manual is the om3ti no manual time for the automatic cameras whith T20/T32 flash if you use TTL/OFT system the power grip whith RC batterys cage at 0.2sec and dont take the motor cap of if you dont use winder light leeks ..
Hello, great video! I have diferent frimware, now i know why is Not working gps sharing... Could you help me about upgrate them to versión 1.11? Thanks
The upgrade will only work if your radio is running version 1.07 firmware. Any other version will brick your radio.
I tried all kinds of cables for the new model 3-digit device and it doesn't work. Has anyone succeeded?
@@serkanozmen5543 what model is the new three digit device? Could you provide a link to where you bought it?
Why do you make a youtube film when you not now what you taking abut only om2 om2/n om2sp om3ti om4 om4/ti om88/101 om707 om40/pc and sc35/15 got TTL/Otf then turn the sign to Auto on the back them on om 1/1n/10/20/30/ 2000 its a waste of money whith a T20/32 flash i got all thoe cameras exept pice of shit 707 the F280 only works on om707 and om3ti and om4ti cameras..

Great radio. Love Baofeng.😎
Hi, I have only one radio. Can you save a home position, then say hike a few miles, and have gps bring you back to your home position? thx. Kevin
@@Kevin-p3p4i not that I am aware of. It just shows position in "real time" as it were with no option to save a position.
Nice thorough review. Nice little radio. 73
@@BrayJaythe2nd Thank you. 👍😎
Highly recommended you install the latest m7ocm firmware from github, you get an awesome spectrum analyser, unlocks it between 18-1300mhz, am/usb/ssb modulation, scan lists (zones) etc, also if you set the mic gain to maximum it will sound better than an icom ✌🏻, p.s. with the m7ocm it puts out 6.5W
Hi folks. In my review I said that the "breathe LED function" was adjustable in the menu. In fact it's not adjustable but the breathe led (Green LED on the top flashes every 10 seconds) will activate once the screen goes into powersave mode (when screen goes black to conserve battery power). Sorry for that error.
Is anyone else having terrible audio on AM air band? My firmware is 1.07 and hardware is 1.30.
How do I put this radio in program mode ( I have software & cable )
@@lankielad if you have the CPS software and the two pin Kenwood type programming cable then it's just a matter of opening the software, selecting the correct com port, and then reading from the radio.
I thought same but no connection, I've tried the one that came with radios and my old boafeng one.
@lankielad ...do any of your cables have a "prolific" chip in them because that can cause issues with drivers as it's "end of life"? Make sure the cable is firmly pushed in at the radio end as that can cause issues too. My Baofeng cable with a ch340 chip in it worked fine for me.
@@bigwill4423 still no joy connecting m6 to pc both cables working on other radios something I'm overlooking?
I've come to conclusion radios are locked with lastest firmware (5.1). I'll live and learn. My thanks for assist

@@bigwill4423 Absolute legend, after trying every version from the Baofeng website and failing, this works perfectly, much appreciated.
@@bigwill4423 Awesome, this works perfectly, software doesn't seem to support all the frequencies though, seems to be limited to 136mhz and upwards so you cant program Air Band at all, software seems to have a password lock for some sections.
i wonder if baofeng t20 has the same internal with WLN kd-c1?
@@badd.syntaxx yes, I believe they are the same radio but with different name badges.
@@bigwill4423 thanks it looks like it. just curious if they do have the same speaker and power output. can you compare it?
@badd.syntaxx unfortunately because the t20 has a fixed antenna I have no means of testing the power output but I imagine they are identical. 🤔
@@bigwill4423 oh yes you are correct, the antennas are fixed and no way to test its power output. thanks for pointing that out. i just recently ordered these unit and still waiting on the mail. i can't wait to test it out. thank you so much, appreciate your response.
I have the UV5 RH Pro since 2 Weeks, i have no Bluetooth. Also i can not connect with Chirp.... Now way. What is wrong? I have buy it at alixpress
@@vynyardofficial2584 As I explained in my video the 5RH pro is NOT supported by chirp at this time and you need to use the CPS programming software instead in order to program the radio.
@@bigwill4423 Why have your Radio Bluetooth?
@@vynyardofficial2584 I personally couldn't get the Bluetooth to operate on that radio but apparently on radios that have working Bluetooth you can use it to connect wireless Bluetooth headphones and speakers or Bluetooth programmers instead of using a wired connection.
Any idea if there are diffusers that work with these? I have a t20 and would love to grab one for it.
@@EddieRhea I'm not sure if Olympus made one specifically for the T20. I'd personally just use a tissue or suchlike over the front of the flash held on with an elastic band as a diffuser. There are also universal fitting diffusers held on with adjustable velcro that you can buy.
The Bluetooth would be used for connecting wireless headphones for listening and transmitting remotely.
What if my radios have different firmwares. How to I change the firmware?
@@seanjohnfits generally speaking you can't change the firmware on the 17 pro GPS because Baofeng don't release the file for it. The only exception to that is updating firmware 1.07 to firmware 1.11 and the only reason that was released was because version 1.07 had an "error" where it randomly created "zones".
The owner's manual is useless. Videos on youtube are not much better. My new radio went bonkers after 1 day. Display went upside down and everything was in Chinese. Sent it back for a refund.
sorry how can acivate Bluetooth?
@@Chill0102 That's a good question. I've never managed to get the Bluetooth to work on mine and I have a feeling that despite in being listed in the menu that there isn't actually an active Bluetooth module in there.(?) Later versions of this model don't even claim to have Bluetooth so I suspect it never was there and just a firmware anomaly in the original version? 🤔
@@bigwill4423 because i bought from china, this driver no Bluetooth and lf that can connect Bluetooth to Phone, try that how can connect and Atak, but by the way Thank you so much detail information.
Thanks for this - but the newest firmware out makes the Airband chrystal clear, i just ordered the Plus model - 73 from Sweden, Levi
t am glad that i got a tribander intesd. gps is to janky and I knew the people in my area wouldn't have it. I am thanking of trying meshtaic.
After speaking to the tech in the aliexpress store, apparently you program these walkies with a USB C cable. I was a little confused after watching this then my bowfing cable didn't work. I'll try tonight when home.. great vid BTW, convinced me to get a set. Cracking little things. 👍
@@callyboygid my two pin Kenwood cable worked for me. 👍
Hello. Can you make a video on how to program channels in this baofeng model? I mean, can it be programmed with some software or only directly in the radio? Best regards :)
Thanks for nice video, That radio also has a problem injecting frequencies in VFO mode, mine simply does not inject frequencies in VFO, for example 442.450 push #4 does not accept it. Menu, VFO/MR, A/B work very well. The rest I program through CPS.
how do you connect to CPS? you can connect the 5rh pro to the cps? mine refuses to handshake....
i cant get anything on mine ??????
this is a 5rh pro max GPS ,,,, and u didnt show the GPS LOL ???? u mayaswell have just got the none gps ????
@@RichMantaray gps works but you'd need two identical radios to test whether they could share coordinates with each other and I only had one.
well i came here to see how the gps works ????
@@RichMantaray There's not a lot to say about it really other than that it works when you switch it on (compared it to my uv-17 pro GPS) . As for sharing coordinates with another 5RH pro, I didn't have another one to match it to to test it. Baofengs seem to require the same model and the same firmware version in order to share gps coordinates.
I love how both companies ripoff each others designs. Very Chinese of them.😄

What is the difference with the uv5rm? Is it the same as the bf5rh?
@@SuperRobbo91 my information is probably out of date but basically the 5RH does not have airband receive whereas the 5RM has....but it's not set in stone as some 5RH actually have airband Rx ...you need to check the spec in the advert.
@@bigwill4423 sounds confusing, and because they are cheap radios the adverts can also be misleading, thankyou for the advise and getting back to me i apreciate it. I have one of the Baofeng GPS models headed my way for me to review (Amazon Vine program). I originally though it might be useful to have the GPS since I thought that it would output NMEA-0183 sentences via USB or Bluetooth that could be input into a tablet or PC that did not have a GPS receiver in it. After watching this video and then contacting BTECH, I see that is not the case and that the GPS is basically useless for me (since I only get one of them to review).
@@seanseoltoir ...yep...it's pretty basic and not really a lot of use...I can only hope they improve it in the future. ☹️
It isn't useless. It's for hiking mainly. You use the gps to find your coords, then you go on any number of freqs and request help and give them your coords. Emergency services can find you using them
"Howdy" from Texas... I looked up that location (at 8m26s) on Google Maps and noticed that I had probably driven very close to it back when I was visit the UK and Ireland a few years ago after taking the car ferry to Larne from Cairnryan... Just bought a pair of KSUN 6 radios. The radios seem to have been disabled to be reprogrammed. You only get the 16 PMR446 channels and that is it. I couldn't find any way to add frequencies or to change the channel setting through the software. You can set the power from HIGH or LOW, and change the bandwidth from WIDE to NARROW using the buttons on the handsets. There are other setting like Squelch level, VOX on/off that can be controlled via the buttons too.
@@EduardoMartinez-ys6fb I can only say that I found it easy to program the radio with pmr446 frequencies which suited me here in the UK. I agree that the software is rather odd and quirky and probably not the best for programming the radio.
