Looks like I've gone in reverse order to you Will. I picked up my first radio, the UV-K5 a couple months ago and now the UV-5RH should be here next week. Your videos definitely helped in my decision making there, decided I'd just go for the simpler tri-band model as opposed to the BF. The Quansheng's AM is good enough for my naive ears. @@bigwill4423 Hey Will, just wanted to give you my first impressions of the UV-5RH (tri-band), the receive appears to be lacking compared to the K5. I'm struggling to pick up local repeaters, ones that come in quite clearer on the Quansheng and a decent antenna. If you have any tips, please let me know. The novelty of now having 2 radios and being able to play walkie talkie hasn't worn off. The shopping list has now grown to 8 radios and various other paraphernalia, we'll get there in due time... @@christopherf7254 .....maybe try a better antenna Christopher. The Nagoya 771 is pretty good. Yep, my collection of radios is ever growing, it's addictive lol 😲😁😜
I absolutely hate how the volume knob sticks out so far to the side, won't fit in holsters easily and always catches on things. No AA battery packs for the quanshengs either.

hiking I want the USB C I can plug in my solar power bank as I hike and keep that and my phone topped up. I wouldn't purchase the new one.
