Hi Big Will, new subscriber here and new radio tinkerer. Following your channel as I have a lot to learn! You sound fairly local to me as well. Looking at these radios on Ali Exp., there seem to be a few different variants of these radios. There's even a Ksut M6 as well as the Ksun, but they look identical! I'm interested in buying a couple for hiking etc. I guess it's pot luck what I end up with! Thanks for the videos, John.
@@johnners911 you're welcome John. I'm in Northern Ireland (as the accent gives me away). I reckon a couple of pmr446 capable radios should fit the bill perfectly for hiking! 😎👍
@@bigwill4423 Yes me too, over near Antrim. I've just ordered a pair of these bad boys due to their small size and another uv17 ProGPS to see if I can pair with one I already have. It's a slippery slope this! Still a lot to learn!
Excellent presentation. Been thinking about buying a pair but wanted more info, which you kindly provided. Have a great Sunday from Northeast Texas US. 👍
Could you please put a link to the programming software either in the description or in the response to this comment? Thanks mate. From your brother across the pond K06DFS. 🤠
Unfortunately the link that my retailer provided for the download was temporary and has now expired. However, I have managed to find a link provided by a fellow youtuber (Knoxieman) who also did a video on this radio (well worth a look btw) and he provided a download link to the software which hopefully is still working here: ruclips.net/user/redirect?event=video_description&redir_token=QUFFLUhqbVlqcEpWakNGYjQzR2tMLUhJTHdnSGxqM0t4QXxBQ3Jtc0tuSkRNVWd2Y3Fpb2NoQnVFcHZfRmNRLWNTTDgyV2hNX280MDdsdkxLQlZBNjhjcl9meUxaLTBYWnRJZjhKZTZHZlRuMkZwY2xLLUcwR19TMjdWMlBuRGlRMVEwRm12Vl96WTJ3blloS2g2TUFOcmRRYw&q=https%3A%2F%2Fdrive.google.com%2Ffile%2Fd%2F1gfKyVyQDzSgYyXhngsq57oj5jhPpZ6m1%2Fview%3Fusp%3Dsharing&v=FH6Dl6lUKbs
@@nickoreckless8115 I'm not familiar with the retevis but the ksun REALLY impressed me with it's build quality, feeling solid in the hand and with beautifully small proportions. 👍😎

Its usable as a digital transmitter for the license free digital channels too
Also would it be possible to disable broadcasting in software for certain channels so for instance you could listen in on some air band channels
@@stampydragon2739 The radio will not be able to receive airband as it is an FM radio and airband is AM. ☹️
@@bigwill4423 what I'm meaning is can you turn off broadcasting ability for listening in on like emergency service radio chatter
