California government is a huge driver of spending within the state. The larger the government, the more demand on goods and services that drive up prices while taking a larger share of people's paychecks through taxes. If we cut government spending and superfluous regulations, prices will drop very quickly.

Congress tried to give themselves a 40% raise while giving retirees a SSA 2.3% COLA increase along with a mandatory Medicare increase for monthly premiums B costs. Food costs have increased varying 38% to 50%. That means Seniors will have to buy less food to make ends meet on their fixed incomes.

Well, holding corporate landlords accountable for realistic rental rates a lease qualifications would be a good start. Human service professionals don't earn six thousand dollars per month to be able to rent a one bedroom six hundred square feet of living space at two thousand dollars per month rent. I can go to an Oklahoma suburb with virtually no crime in a green belt and rent a two bedroom apartment with a fireplace and attached garage for $1350/no rent in a gated community. I have endured ten thousand dollars worth of car repairs on an eight year old car because of constant urban building construction from out of state corporate contractors. Start there. Urban anizing Placer County is a living hell with rising ground water bursting plumbing now. Stop urbanization now. It's insane!

Get the flame throwers ready…. I’m a long time Orange County democrat…. But I will happily admit I totally agree with Heath that we need to come together in the center. The only way this state works is if we work together. Not even going to talk about national level government but when it comes down to a discussion at the kitchen table I think the majority of us are closer than we think. Extreme political ideas just divide us. As citizens and voters we have a civic duty to let our representatives know the issues that matter to us. I had a friend who worked as a correctional officer in California. He was chosen to be part of the goon squad. The guys that rushed into a cell of a out of control inmates. This was 20 years ago so I believe he may be retired by now. He was a regular CO did he worked in the internal investigation division. He did that for a couple of years. What happened was that during one investigation a couple of guys "bumped" into his wife and said something to her about how her husband should back off on a investigation or two that the husband is working on. Investigations that obvious involving the guards. Finally my friend made the decision to quit the internal investigation division go back to working as a CO at a prison location. He felt that his wife and family could be in danger. There's a lot of corruption within the correctional officer agency and union.
