If this interview with Assemblywoman Gail Pellerin was supposed to make me feel secure with the CA voting process it failed. Just listening to her explain how things work makes me question voting results even more. Where is the part where they verify the person voting is a legal citizen and CA resident? Thirty days later they are still counting. Suspicious! Remove the bottlenecks in the process to speed it up or go back to the old way of doing things. Voting results should be completed within a day or so like the other states.
My ballot in the 2020 Primary was not counted, because they contacted me by mail to tell me my signaturedid mot match, no one called me or brought a ballot to my home. I DO NOT BUY WHAT SHE IS SAYING. Same day Regisering and Voting is crazy. Waiting for as long as we have is to for the tally of the vote is crazy.
I prefer voter ID and same day elections, and all votes counted same day! Additionally, have the option to vote in person or drop off one’s ballots at designated locations on Election Day. Finally, have the ballot counting on camera for everyone to witness. It’s pretty straight forward.😉

Love the topics and long form interviews on CA issues. That said, it is deeply insulting to voters when she puts “takes too long” in air quotes. Access is important, but so are timely results. She seems to not care at all how long it takes and there is no sense of, ok we have ease and wide access, now let’s focus on speed. She also laments that turnout is so low without addressing the fact that voting as an informed voter in CA takes at least 2-3 hours - not waiting in line, just understanding who and what you are voting for because the ballots are that complex. Would love to hear a real discussion from her on the tradeoff - most people (especially the ones who don’t vote now) are not going to spend 2 hours studying and learning. Is she calling for more participation by uninformed voters? If so, why? How does that benefit CA? Is there any way to simplify our ballots? Seems difficult with all the propositions we have. No easy answers but it would be nice to hear more than platitudes like every vote counts.
I used to simplify it by voting no. Well, so did a lot of other people, so they worded some of the measures so that a No vote got the measure passed. Then they tried to make sure only those who supported it knew about their switcheroo. Dirty as hell. That's why they push for participation. They know that the people not voting are the least informed, and easy to manipulate.

Having had a spouse that had mental health issues, I can tell you from experience, it's something that takes more than just talk to someone and you're cured. It takes years and many times, it really isn't successful. I gave my ex-wife access to great psychologist and psychiatrists for many years. She didn't have to work at all and was free to pursue anything she wanted to. Luckily my health insurance covered some of it (50%) but it was very expensive. I literally had to dip into my retirement account to help pay for the treatments. These treatments were one on one. So, do you think the government can even come close to providing mental health treatment in a cattle call situation? You're dreaming.
So if it takes democrats in California 3 weeks to "count" the ballots then we don't need the vulnerable computer systems to vote. Just go back to paper ballots and then take 3 weeks to count everything.
To claim only 1 instance of voter fraud in 28 years is disingenuous at best. This ineffectual bureaucrat needs to be removed from the voting process not leading it.
As a longtime born and still living in California resident, we not only need mental health care increase of access but we also need to open up facilities for those who should not be outside on public streets. There is way too much of a give them their meds and cut them loose approach. Same with drug treatment there needs to be a means in which they will be stuck in the Care and unable to get out until completion or until they reach a point of stability mentally. That’s not what everybody needs, but there are some you can clearly see should not be out on the street I think that would make a major change for California, homeless and addicted
They make to many concessions to people to vote. Voting is a right and privilege to citizens. There are federal laws about voting in a national election that the state dies not abide by. An example is that federal election law requires one day to vote and those votes be counted. California may take the longest in the nation to count their votes. On the mail in vote package just print the VOTES MUST BE SUBMITTED SO THEY ARRIVE AT THE COUNTING POLE NO LATER THAN 8AM ON NOVEMBER 5TH. Part of the privilege and right to vote is making themselves available to vote. When votes arrive at your home, you should know that you can immediately fill it out and return it if you cannot vote on election day. Life requires organizing and making priorities. This includes voting. The state must step up and reorganize the voting process, make it secure and voting on time with paper not computer ballots that are counted on election day. I agree with her on suicide. Suicide is a health care that is not getting adequate attention. Thank you for airing these issues.
Had a call from the voter registrar,,, because my signature did not match,,, tell them my signature is never the same especially between the time elections happen ,, my signature always changes and deliberately do it...
