Unfortunately this one is part of the problem with what is wrong with California. All about himself and not his constituents.

If we can cleanly burn oil to make electricity, why can't we cleanly burn trash, including plastic from oil, to make electricity? "Only 1% of Sweden's trash is sent to landfills. By burning trash, another 52% is converted into energy and the remaining 47% gets recycled. The amount of energy generated from waste alone provides heating to one million homes and electricity to 250,000."

You can't convince the Sierra Club to allow it. The net cost of Nuclear power is cheaper than any other method, and Sierra Club.... Now Trump is POTUS, hings will be chsnging.

I appreciate you having this senator on. I appreciate thos effort and legislation to get things to change, because if we have a proof of concept in California we can start applying it in other states such as my home state of Oregon. I'm glad we have people focusing on these issues and getting change to happen out there and I'm glad that people aren't giving up on our country and our world

While we are on the subject, the "recycle fee" needs to be dropped with the general public since its NOT working in their benefit. Throwing money at recycling after all of these years and they now discover its more expensive to "recycle" than it is to simply buy the raw materials. What a blunder California...you should have been validating containers, bottles etc. from manufacturers long ago rather than allow them to flood the state with plastics etc. and assign CRV fees to the public. They aren't worth it to the public to turn in and get their CRV fee back due to the amount of time to collect it and store it then, either give it away or take it to a reclamations center at yet another cost only to get partial refunds. A complete WASTE...the stuff simply needs to be trashed and the refuse companies grind the junk up and let industry figure out something to do with the remains. Maybe manufacturers need to go back 30 to 40 years ago when all was mostly put into glass containers, especially foods. We had no waste issues back then.

Except the homeless collect recycling items in huge bags. Aliminum recycle value is so high, you can buy soda for practically no cost at Costco.

It is interesting that we are more concerned about plastic bag break down can disintegrate into our water source when if such, than other much more environmental unfriendly disposed materials in the landfills? Banning things and making it more expensive or harder to the population without sound reasoning and robust approach can only backfire and cause more hardship and illegal dumping.

Here in Quebec we actually have 3 bins (trash, recycle and compost) province wide, a deposit-refund system on plastic bottles and aluminum cans. We also have ecocenters where tires, paint, batteries and many other environmentally harmful products must end up since its against the law to put them to trash......all of those environmental programs are in place since almost 2 decades already

We have it here in California as well, all that you mention. The problem is what the county/state is doing with it.
A few years ago it was being sold to China/India to recycle and in some countries they just took the money and left it on their beaches and land to pollute their own land.
Where does Quebec’s go? And now that the other countries aren’t taking it, what is Cali’ doing with it…not enough for the money being spent. Something else needs to happen.

Correct, it makes No Financial Sense!
That was the HARDEST thing to get used to when we escaped COMMIEFORMIA! We no longer paid crv ,the nearest recycling center is now 20 miles and only pay about
$ .25 lb and they only take soda & water bottles and aluminum cans. Not even worth it.
Luckily we still get free grocery bags too!
Our trash company doesn't do curbside recycling, I seen a recycling truck in the neighborhood so I called them 🙄 about service, THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME!🤔🤣🤣🤣
I don't Think SO!.That was the end if that!

We use styrofoam for packaging UPS FedEx because we have ceramic tile that needs to be protected and we recycle the Styrofoam peanuts as we ship it out. Our customers bring it back to us. That’s how we do it but preform Styrofoam pieces they wind up being broken down and used as packaging, I’m sure eventually get thrown away

Japan has very comprehensive waste sorting where the consumer is responsible for separating trash by different products including cleaning your take home food packaging , solid compostable food and bottles , cans are actually recycled. Restaurants put empty bottles back into crates . You’ll never find public trash cans anywhere so you take your waste home. Insane but it works.

Do your SHARE. Help us fix the problem I can’t solve. Do your SHARE and pay for the costs for the environment. Everyone has to chip in to save the environment.
Regarding alternatives to plastic, have those products been tested thoroughly for quality, durability, and longevity? Those tests better be longer than 10 years of pier reviewed research and testing.

I also wrote and called Senator Allen's office about problems I was having with the DMV refusing to obey the law. They wouldn't even respond. Allen doesn't seem to care about his constituents. I therefore had to sue the DMV and get a judge to order them to follow the law.
