    Very good review as usual 👏 👍 👌 Doom 2099 was awesome. I loved the flashback scenes. Vey well written. We see a old ,frail vulnerable Doom. He may have taken on Mephisto or the Beyonder in his youth but he is still human and will get old. The mystery of his current youthful appearance is still a mystery at this point. The colours or the fire on the last page were awesome. Considering it was regular paper and not a glossy type that Image Comics were doing makes it that bit more impressive. Claremont was a master at the down-time issues. He always knew when it was time for a breather after an intense story. Sam and Roberto's dynamic was always fun. They were complete opposites. Man, this is one of my favorite series ever. Shockwave was such a badass in the comic continuity. All of Bob Budiansky's issues are good, including the Underbase saga, but it gets even better around #55 or so, (I can't remember the exact issue), when Simon Furman starts writing it. I was really into Furman's backstory about Primus and Unicron, and how the Cybertronians were created and all that. Yeah, Spike shows up later as Buster's older brother. I think he had been "away at college." After the Headmasters mini-series, and they get back from Nebulos, Spike gets bonded to Fort Max as his headmaster. Dude, I wanted a Fort Max so bad back in 1987, but I did not have the cash back then -- and Mom wasn't paying that for a Christmas gift. 😆 Bro, you got me wanting to go back and read this series again. It's such a blast, plus it has all those G1 toys in it that makes 10-year-old me super happy.

      I wish my folks would have been more into buying me Transformers and showing me how to do the transformations, I was like...4 and they had no idea and left me to my own devices lol. Each time I go back to this OG series it makes me want to review more of my Transformer figures, but I have to wait with spooky season coming up lol. I just ordered the Skybound 40th Anniversary Edition Transformers #1 to review so I don't have to open my original copy, so I am chomping at the bit for it to get here

    I have a poster of this cover on the wall in my comic book room. The 80's and 90's were an exciting time to be a Superman fan. We got that awesome Byrne run in the late 80's, then we got the triangle era in the 90's. Granted, the death thing in #75 was gimmick, but at least it spawned three great villains in Doomsday, Cyborg Superman, and Eradicator - and two new characters in Superboy and John Henry Irons. I love Superman. I love his moral code and his values. It always bugs me when people say he's boring, or when creators try to change him to make him more "edgy." This will probably sound silly, but when I was a little kid growing up, my impression of masculinity and manhood were formed by watching my dad, Captain Kirk, and Superman.

    • @ChrisMacPresents
      @ChrisMacPresents 9 дней назад

      Good role models for sure 👍 Dan Jurgens & Peter J. Tomasi knew exactly how to write Superman. I hate to say it, but I do think Frank Millers DarkcKnight Returns is what gave a bad image to Super forcawhile on top of the atrocious silver age lol.
