- Welcome to Sorted Food. Today we ask ‘what can you cook if you HAD to cook ingredients from a chef's fridge?!’ What ingredients will the normals have to use as the battle it out and will they know what to cook with them?

What would you have made with Chef Will's ingredients? 👀
With the early mentions, of egg, sausage, and chili oil, my first thought was do almost a spicy carbonara. Plenty of places to pack flavor and use whatever it is you have in the fridge!
The WHOOSH sound effect on this keeps peaking at the end. Poor fade envelope? Makes the video kind of unwatchable.
One mean big pot of pasta!
Honestly, I would have done pretty close to Jamie's dish; I would have added the chili crisp instead of fennel, and just put the pre-crumble stew on a bed of rice, topped with a very runny egg, and thrown some green onions on top for garnish.
This is how I often cook anyways; meat+veg+sauce over rice.
I feel like Poppy's fridge would be the obvious choice
“He’s a bit of a lad.”
You know, I heard Bens a bit of a lad himself
exactly what i thought
Excellent reference 😂
I heard he likes a bit of a lad.
What does "bit of a lad" mean?
@@aliciaapro7502that Ben likes a peppermint napkins with his dried mash
Ben being excited about the new restaurant being in walking distance from his home, is so relatable. Nothing can beat a great restaurant that’s near enough to home that you won’t even have to worry about how much you’re drinking or how long you’re staying and how you’re getting home. No last bus to miss.🍷
Exactly this!
@@SortedFood YESSIR
I am within walking distance to my favorite Thai spot. Its a luxury I will miss if I move.
I'm within walking distance of a Dollar General 😂.
I live less than a block from the local jack in the box... I'm honestly jealous.
And I'm Ben as well.
obsessed with barry pouring the ting into the salad and THEN tasting it. Never change chef
I was wondering how he was so brave 😂
Mythical Chef Josh's fridge would be interesting. It's probably filled with a mix of weird, interesting stuff and chicken breasts & body building fare.
Yes!!!
Would love to see that. But he would prob stock his fridge specifically for the show to be different.
His fridge, plus just a dish of sodium citrate.
@@bigmrmacharward I listened to a couple of episodes the Mythical Kitchen podcast this week, and it sounds like his fridge at home is filled with veg, unusual sauces, and fish. He says at home he eats a lot of hero veg dishes, and saves the flatbreads from his takeaways to use in other things.
Its prob just full of fast food
Oooh I love the twist on this format by introducing non-Sorted chefs’ fridges.
Glad you like the twist! Who would you like to see next?
@@SortedFoodMAX!🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
@@SortedFood Poppy!
@@SortedFoodPoppy, Nigella Lawson, Nadiya Hussain, just to name a few.
We need Poppy next for sure
That was fun! They both did great.
Let's see Poppy's and James's fridges next! *g*
yxes Poppy's fridge is a great idea becaus let us have her on the show again
Its probably just 3 shelf of potatoes and then 1 shelf of 'not potato'. But imagine a cook off. Blindly or maybe they can see. A normal has to pick one of the chefs fridges, and then they get that chef on the sidlines giving them hints along the way for a group victory
@@nether2227 Potatoes don't go in the fridge!
@@toscirafanshaw9735 I doubt she keeps her Potatoes in the fridge!
@@toscirafanshaw9735 Sientific research has now shown that storing your spuds in the fridge doesn't actually increase acrylamide potential compared with storing them in a cupboard at room temperature. So if you dont want them just out or dont have a massive cupboared to fill them with, Yes. yes they can!!!!
I love that Jamie always snacks and he shared with Barry in the most natural way possible. Needless to say I love the dynamic of 4 friends who have been friends for a long time. ❤❤❤
Long story short, I used to live in a monastery, and not a scrap of food ever went to waste. One Sunday, we received a donation of about a dozen vegetarian pizzas. By Tuesday, the leftovers were rock hard, so sister blitzed them up and made them into soup. It was delicious!
What an absolutely wonderful thing XD
Great story, I wouldn’t mind the long version 😂👍🏼
I'm intruigued as to why a Sister was in the monastery
The casserole is great and a deserving winner.
The smashed sausage pizza with an egg on top is the one I'm most likely to do when faced with a fridge full of leftovers.
Same, specially when the pizza is super cold and stale and you know if you microwave it, it's going to taste like shit
What an insanely impressive episode. They were both so calm and collected the whole time.
Did Barry just claim that Domino's Pizza is "beautifully seasoned"? I'm demanding his spice badge be rescinded. Again.
🤣🤣🤣🌞
Jamie giving Barry a bite before he takes a bite melts my heart
Posh French cheese and a babybell 😂love it!
Two ends of the cheese scale 😆
@@SortedFood😊😊😂😂😂😂😂
I remember as a child when all I got was Kraft singles, I thought babybel was some kind of luxurious cheese
Oh Baby Bel and Laughing Cow are French cheese. They were created in France and the other places around world still use same formula. In past they even used French enzymes ..other things and maybe still. There is a laughing cow/ bel factory up road from us in Kentucky
Though I would not speak of the langres as a posh cheese x)
So Barry, with the ingredients; sausage, egg, and pizza, made... pizza. With a side salad.
he has the sous chef apron for a reason
there is nothing better than good pizza. Barry nailed it
He came in with the fire by using the Grapefruit soda to dress a raw zucchini salad, so I was real excited to see the follow up, but yeah its a pizza
You need to do this but with our fridges. We could send them in for you guys to cook from.
Ooh this would be interesting! Either pictures or videos or maybe a list of items in certain categories, e.g. veg, protein, condiments, etc.
That would be amazing! Fridges from all over the world and they draw a number to decide which fridge they're getting. Completely random, could be same area, could be Columbia vs Germany or Taiwan.
That is excellent idea! Chef cook from "normals" fridge except normal will be us. It would be also interesting to see difference between different countries and which products they commonly offer in shops. For example I was thinking about getting sidekick app, but I live in small country in EU and many food items from UK are not common in our shops.
@@furrantee That is great idea!
@@hannahk1306 With pictures it should be easy. I hope this comments gets more upvotes so Sorted will see it.
I've been told that professional chefs and cooks often eat poorly. It's a result of spending the entire day cooking and at the end not wanting to cook again or being exhausted from a long day. So the Domino's pizza actually makes sense.
Good lord is that true, I’ve been a chef for nearly 14 years and the last thing I want to do is cook when I get home. It’s like asking a mechanic to go back and work on his car, or asking an electrician to get home and rewire his lounge.
@@dominicmillns5856 It's like asking an opera singer to listen to music at home. There's music non-stop where I work, and I practice so much, music is not something I relax to anymore. I listen to podcasts instead.
Every time I see Barry in the Sous Chef apron, all I want to see is an Iron Chef style battle for the apron. Instead of a secret ingredient it could be themed around one of the skills badges. 😆
Pan frying a leftover pizza slice in butter is the best hack I've learnt for the longest time (a year or so ago) but this certainly adds some extra to it!
Just did it yesterday out of necessity, and it is wonderful!
"Smell my Bishop"
Oh Barry you dawg.
It's great to see the progress the lads are making with their cooking skills, even Ebbers is impressed😊
They produced two pretty strong meals right?
@@SortedFoodabsolutely I'd love to see some of these dishes on the app
The fork in the hexclad... I can hear my mother screaming from a few countries away haha
9:23 Ben having a cheesegasm with a Stinking Bishop 😂
I fealt that
Barry and Jamie really killed it in this video. Well done! Barry is coming into his own as a Sous-chef. EVERYONE IS A WINNER
Who's fridge? Poppy's, obviously.
OH! Nonono! Wait! Uncle Rogers!
Love this series! Maybe you can do something similar but with viewer's fridges or something? Those might be a little more "normal" but also more foreign, depending on where the person is from, and maybe you can come up with stuff that not everyone has come up with, yet?
I've been watching u guys for ten years or so.. Been loving the 'sorted' idea of the whole thing. Simple and tasty take-ons on classic and other recipes.. Feels like nowadays you focus on the midweek app. Missing the fun and real trying to make classics more accessable for us. Pls don't be so affraid about pissing people off and do your thing you did before. And i'm not encouraging you to provoke, just to be you and owning YOU. And all the games are always sooo fun 🥰 LOVE ❤❤❤
a refrigerator as a very personal and private space is one of the most british things ive heard on this channel lol
The sous chef losing speaks volume for the ability of Jamie ngl 😅
eh. More to the competition that won him that. Barry specializes in food that they like and was using recipes from chefs as usual. The competition just happened to be perfect for his exact skillset (catering to chefs). There's a reason Kush is always calling Jamie the real sous chef, if given a direction he's the best normal overall. (mike's probably come the furthest and tries very hard to learn, but he's still getting there.)
When you look at the scoring it was mostly Poppy who gave Barry the win😅
And Jamie cleared down. That's some cheffy behaviour right there. Barry just wafted his apron around when he could have been clearing down.
@@maromania7 I can see a year from now a rematch between Jamie vs Barry for sous-chef
Top-notch cooking from both Jamie and Barry. I'd be hard put to choose.
The normals have come such a long way. So good. Waiting for the Sorted pop-ip restaurant.
Do James Currie or Poppy O'Toole's fridges next! (If they consent of course.)
the dominos when he opened the fridge made me less embarrassed about my takeaway choices sometimes 🤣
This might be one of the best performances didn't run into time problems both look fantastic and whilst simple at a base level had great little twists.
It would be hilarious if you got Gabie kook or Poppy's fridge contents, that would really challenge the normals. Also, Caribbean drinks, mauby(personal fav) sea moss, soursop, cold Milo
Poppy's would probably be all potatoes, cheese and butter 😂
Great suggestions..... thank you!
If Barry keeps losing he’ll have t give up that apron
Ebbers: Don’t panic lads. You’ll be okay!
Jamie: IM GONNA MAKE A CRUMBLE.
Have we ever seen “cooking from Barry’s fridge” I’m sure we’d find some great ingredients in there!
That happened in the first cook from the fridge episode. It was the boys cooking from each others fridges
@@destroy141 ahhh, ok! Thank you👍
They already have that series, it’s called “pretentious ingredients “
🤣@@SimonLemin82
reminds me of the Korean tv-show "please takecare of my fridge!" where a group of chefs kidnap celebs fridges (they litterally have the whole fridges in the studio lol) and have to cook with the ingredients in it and compete against eachother. Its alot of famous Korean chefs in it and once even Gordon Ramsey was a guest chef on it. :)
whoaaa thanks for the recommend
We all knew Jamie would go for the sausages and garlic, but we also knew he'd nail it
Who else is ready for James to come back???? 🎉🤩🥳🙌🏻🙌🏻
I wish the chef of the fridge could taste test as well😄
Video Idea:
Triple-duo battle!
Three chefs (Ben, Kush & a guest chef like James, Poppy, etc) go head to head, but the twist is that their sous chef is randomly picked by them through a named card between Barry, Jamie, Mike.
So that makes it three teams consisting each of a chef & sous chef who are to create a dish working together and beat the other two teams.
The judge will be the sorted behind the scenes crew & the dish to be prepared will come from a theme.
Themes can change every subsequent episode of this format and the chef that does not get to pick (i.e who gets the third sous chef left by default) gets to pick the theme from a set of cards.
i look foward these videos so much, thank you for all the hard work you guys do!
Hello Barry with the 'ol choppy chop. Knife skills have improved! 4:50
What you are doing here is what college students do every day to survive or at least live long enough to finish the semester! :D
I remember digging through the cupboards and grabbing practically every seasoning to throw in my ramen/mac'n'cheese to switch it up for 4 years. Yeah, there were times after payday where you get pizza and whatever fish/steak/chicken you could afford. But the majority of the time was just pasta.
Good times. Taught me how to utilize what I needed to make something I could eat so I wouldn't die.
I havent watched Sorted for a couple of years but since the christmas advent my love for you guys has revamped!
Love seeing a can of Ting, or as I call it, sassy Lilt
Sassy Lilt 🔥
Rum an ting is the best
I need to find this in the states. I'd never tried grapefruit soda until a few months ago when I saw a 12 pack of a grapefruit soda called "Squirt," and since then I've become absolutely addicted.
In Canada it's called Fresca.
A version of the sausage casserole crumble is definitely my personal winner. Lovely vid. How about a disastrous fridge from a normal (dare I say, the infamous Kay). Would be more fun to see the horror and mayhem that ensues.
So the question is: If Jamie and Mike beat Barry in enough challenges, do they get to challenge him for the Red Apron?
"Bit of a Lad"
Opens fridge: DOMINO'S 😆
So funny to see Dominoes pizza because it originated about 35 miles from where I live and it was my first taste of takeout pizza.
WOW! Congratulations to you both. Those finished dishes made my mouth water. Great job, Jamie!
This is absolutely brilliant! Thanks so much.
Jamie won the title of creativity and Barry won the title of upcycling
Jamaican patties and ting? I love Will even more now!
If Barry wants a pat on the back for putting an egg on a pizza and making a salad, I fear he might be losing his mojo !!
I went to Fallow when I came to London for the first time last year after I saw your video with them and looked up their menu - the food was fantastic.
They both look/sound delicious, but upscaling leftover pizza is a novel and useful idea!
The fact that both boys managed to bang out pretty decent mid-week meals before the timer ended was amazing!
Uncle Roger's fridge and Uncle roger as a secret judge would be fun
Awesome Video again guys i Love it!
I must say, when Barry was explaining his Pizza Idea, it reminded me how i reHeat my Pizza.
The Best way i found (for me personally) is I Put the Slice/Whole Pizza (depends on your Pan Size) upside down into a Coated Pan on middle Heat and let it slowly reHeat, if the Slice is getting hot, you can also up it to 3/4 heat to crisp the cheese a little bit more, but be careful not to burn it.
This way the Cheese/Toppings gets kinda Crispy (if you have a Margherita/Quattro Formaggi the cheese will get like a Parmesan Crisp 🤤also you can Flip the Pizza from time to time if you want, so the Bottom gets a bit crispy too. if you have enough time and don't eat the Pizza beforehand 😂). I dont think it would work with a Pizza which got alot of toppings on it because it would fall apart really easy. You can also Experiment with a Lid here and there, but beware that the Pizza can get Soggy. (maybe steam it a little bit with a Lid so the Dough get a bit Moisture back and then crank the Heat up to crisp it up? (just winging it at this point 🤣)
Great subtitles today! Best ever, in fact 👏
Great tips here. I often struggle with even sausage distribution. Thanks uploader.
Barry made a pizza, from a pizza.
Just watching the closeup of Barry slicing the zucchini (yes I'm American), I got the same conniptions Ben had during their Honduras episode. It's like Barry doesn't realize the shape of the knife and never slices or juliennes all the way through.
YAY! Love this series! Suggestion: Cook from bens precious garden
Yes yes yes!!!!!
Jaimie definitely deserves this one, that looked really tasty.
Always Happy to see you guys! Suggestion: Colombian battle! 🇨🇴🇨🇴🇨🇴🇨🇴🇨🇴
It's really fun Ben🤭, I'm starting to like you, I'm waiting for you to taste unique Indonesian food 😁🤭. Greetings from Indonesia🇮🇩 to all of you
The smile Jamie brought to my face with his enthusiasm over ting 😊
Will, I just am not surprised by the contents of your fridge. Definitely Jamie has it for me but mostly because in my household no pizza is ever left over! I feel compelled to add that funky cheese is a staple in my fridge and I have just started a mushroom farm at home and procured a pigs head for some charcuterie. Bath Chap, brawn, etc!
For me, Barry is the winner, because I can honestly see myself doing something similar, the next time I got some leftover pizza. Great job!
The Dominoes in the fridge makes me smile so hard. ALL chefs have those items that are utter crap in quality. Like unquestionable they could make better blindfolded. BUT be it nostalgia, ease, or just preference, it'll be there and they will not be ashamed. Bourdain had KFC mac and cheese, my instructor at chef school loved Swanson Hungry man Fried chicken tv dinners.
We had to force my Dad to get his own personal fridge for Stinking Bishop.
I've worked with chefs all of my working adult life and boy do they love their take out. Its like they enjoy not having to cook for once, more than the food itself.😂
Absolutely get what Jamie means about how fun it is to come up with something tasty and unique out of what random items you've got left over in the fridge. Growing up poor meant coming up with creative ways to make do with what we had, stretching meals, and making things taste great. I learned a lot from my mom, but it was these little "challenges" of cooking that sparked a large amount of my love for cooking and encouraged my continued learning. I still, to this day, find myself at the end of a paycheck without much left in the pantry and fridge, having a truly fun time coming up with something creative.
Just last week, before we got paid, I had to scramble to figure out what to make my husband for lunch. Found a number of veggies I froze because they were close to going (butternut squash, sweet potatoes, and tomatoes), cooked them together with seasonings, garlic, and onion as a soup. Blended it up to smooth, added coconut milk, and served it over a lime rice. Truly, a rich and filling lunch for him that were just things I had left from that week of cooking.
Amen. And that sounds yummy!
love watching these guys. Does anyone else find Ebber's schoolboy pronunciation of french words hilarious?
They made a deconstructed, reconstructed quiche and strata! Brilliant work, boys!!! 😂
Sometimes simple ideas are the best ones. Love what Barry did with pizza leftover.
Watching this channel as a french is so fucking entertaining. You get Ebbers mispronoucing almost everything and you can try to guess what he meant when he said "époissé" or "Landré" I fucking love it (also Ebbers saying "BIG BOUDIN" is my phone notification sound)
Love you guys please never learn how to pronounce any french
I mean, Jamie trying to say "lahmacun" wasn't exactly his stellar moment either. They mispronounce words in many languages ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it's okay, they've probably only ever seen it written and I'll never shame people who read and inform themselves that way
@@DizzyBusy Oh I can't totally get why it would be frustrating for some people, especially for least established culture in Europe don't get me wrong. But I mean mispronoucing some french cheeses happen all the time even for french people given the shit ton of different types we have so I won't hold it against them you know !
Great video! Love this series ❤
Man, ting and BEEF PATTIES, big up the yardie!
Indeed Barry, we'll let you know who should have won.
Jamie, he won the battle and should have won the sous chef apron as well
Ben: Lets get them into the sexies
Baz while lifting his apron: Yeaaaaay
Got me dying here😂😂😂
Love this series everyone, keep up the amazing work!!! Jamie and Barry, the true mayhem combo.
Awesome job guys! Both look delish, but when it comes down to it I'm more likely to smear a sausage on old pizza and munch away at a raw squash :P
I would have to give this one to Barry. He used leftover Dominoes pizza is a way that actually looks and sounds really good! I think Jamie's looks good too, but very impressed with Barry going for the really difficult leftover ingredient.
These dishes are def end week meals~ love how well they did! Both won in my heart
Jamie face when he dropped some of the pizza in his casserole x)
The saucy sausage casserole hands down winner for me lads! ❤
Ben told Jaime the proper French pronunciation of rillettes, and Jaime just couldn't stop himself from doing the British version of "LL."
Yeah from Jamaica 🇯🇲 for the patties and ting they are the best i love this man.😋🥰💜
As soon as i saw the pizza, i knew it was snacking pizza... didn't take long for Jamie to grab a slice :D
Again, I love seeing creativity.
Excited to watch this one 👍🏻
Savoury Crumble, where have you been all my life? Thank you Jamie for this wondrous gift!
POKER FACE IDEA!
Denatonium Benzoate (the bitter agent in Bitrex) is a white tasteless, odourless powder. What could be fun is having something like profiteroles or dainty pastries/fruits and have the boys each have a small sieve full of icing powder or some sort of white powder to decorate the food. Of course one sieve will have this bitter agent in it and you will have to be careful ratios/volumes to ensure it is all safe, but I think the added theatre of making all participants sprinkle their own icing sugar could add a fun element to the new poker face style.
I’ve been a fan for around 8 years, it all started around the time of Ben’s birthday sweet quiche, the 70’s battle with Barry dressed in a rubik’s cube, back when mr Currie was just on the food team and hadn’t blossomed in-front of camera, Baz did the breakfast battle against the spanish guy who made the banana nutella pancakes. All in all you guys have been a delight to grow up with, and now finally coming to university and having a kitchen and some proper independence I’m now able to put into practice all the things I’ve learnt over the years from you excellent lot. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to engage with any of your live shows, or ever join the sorted club/packs. I’ve always always kept an eye out for your guys’ cooking books in every charity shop I visit though, but to no avail. Even still, the knowledge and confidence in the kitchen I’ve culminated through the sorted team has been immense. I just want to give you boys a huge thanks, and want to congratulate the Sorted team on how you have evolved and grown across the development of youtube, and how you have excellently stayed relevant and ever expansive in your content- never ceasing to teach and help. Keep up the great work lads!
PS: I appreciate I have said ‘Boys’ and ‘Lads’ almost exclusively, as in writing this I am mainly referring to Baz, Spaff, Ebbers and Mike as you 4 were the main on screen personas I learnt with, but I don’t want to discredit the incredible work of the entire team, and its always a joy having them included on screen here and there and seeing the teamwork and community dynamic the Sorted team encourages so well
PPS: Apologies I’m going on a bit of a shpeal but writing this Poker Face suggestion has just given me a vessel to express my gratitude and love for this RUclips channel, and wider company. I do just want to say quickly that I think the University/Young Adult market could be tapped into better currently. I appreciate you boys are very busy, and it shows in the quality and quantity of the content you produce. But the food waste, food knowledge and food appreciation areas around university life are astonishing. If you could find ways to inject your knowledge and understanding into students you’d have an amazing impact on all those areas just mentioned and I’m sure you are aware of all the positives you can provide yourself, so I wont go into some long prose about why I think you guys should. But if perhaps University visits, or merch drops etc to get the name out or something small that can build. I don’t want it to seem like im prying for freebies, but I do believe you guys could have an even greater impact by involving the student market into ur revolutionary meal packs. Cost of Livvie is hitting everyone, so perhaps even just trying to involve yourselves with some societies and provide small discounts and taster sessions into meal-packs to entice students. I just want to provide that small lil nugget of an idea and see if it at all manages to blossom. Stay awesome sorted! I look forward to the all the bants you guys continue to dish out about barry’s sous-chef status: well-earnt but well-deserved. Thanks ❤
I can’t currently find that vid, and I fear I may be misremembering: Barry’s competitor in that battle and he may have been Brazilian. But it was definitely a delish looking dish that I have voted for way back when.
Chef here...
We spend our nights cooking fancy or specialty for the guests of the restaurant/cafe or whatever. This does not mean that we cook that way at home when we are relaxing or with our family if we have that. Most "chefs" love a fast meal, an easy meal, something quick but full of flavor. We slave away all day or night at work, we don't want to do that at home.
Yes I'll cook up a complicated fancy meal for friends or family when we have a gathering but if it's just me at home I want something easy and fast.
Or ordering Dominos or a local take away.
Great Example: Tonight I'm eating thin sliced pork chops that marinated in herbs and olive oil over night. Then I toasted up some flatbread in the pork pan drippings. Easy - Fast - Tasty
Watching the likes go from 500 to over a thousand in the time it takes to watch this video, just speaks to the love for this channel!
nice throw back from Barry leveling up a Domino's pizza
