My son told me about a game he wanted, ten years ago. And that he wanted us to play together. When I moved away, we would spend our weekends playing so that we could still hang out together. Ten years later and this weekend I helped him get his fully upgraded outbreak. Bring on the Final Shape, we are ready.
Can you think of where you were 10 years ago when this little journey started? Super happy that you got this video out, truly a monumental achievement Byf, proud of you man
This video is insane so far only 50 mins in! This is like Evan said a monumental thing now in destiny history! Congratulations byf on another amazing video right before the final shape! I’m sure I will watch this all over again before Tuesday!!!!!
When I picked up my preorder of D1 I had just graduated HS still living with my parents. Now? I'm married with a 4yo and 2yo with my own house. Crazy man
i was getting screened for adhd for the first time at the age of around 10 when the game came out now look at me, still sad and helpless but at least i enjoyed the time
I was a brand new mom when this journey started, i didnt get to play destiny for 5 years cuz of raising my tiny human. He is now watching bits of this with me. Thank you Byf and team for these amazing long form content. ❤
I have a little guardian of my own, it's an amazing feeling taking him through his first dungeon, helping him figure out puzzles and letting him enjoy the music. This silly little game is a huge part of my life.
Can this earn some type of award? I havent played Destiny in 6-7 years and this helped me understand the story perfectly. The narrating was perfection and the ending gave me chills. Well done to all involved.
Similar story for me. I dropped off right after Shadowkeep and have been wondering about the story ever since then. Byf did a great job summing up and retelling this story, enough that I still felt things during some of the major moments. Good to know that the story seems like it only really got better from there. I almost wish i had expetienced the story first hand
If we could play, ALL OF THIS STORY, as complete Destiny- with all scenes, all weapons, all changes- in ONE straight play through- one more time. It’d be truly worth it
@@spoiledsalad1851 or they could just make it optional extra downloads for each expansion so we who have the storage space can enjoy it as we see fit instead of revoking the right to a cohesive story from the players. It’s stupid that all the expansions need to be downloaded even if you haven’t bought access to them.
I don't know if you'll ever see this comment, but here it is: Since fall of 2018 when I started playing Destiny you became part of my every day more or less. Along with Bungie who makes the game, for me, in same amount you keep this magic alive for me and keep me being in love so much with this game and this universe, with your intresting storytelling, your videos in which you pour your heart into. I hope to witness the next saga in its entierty with you! Thank you so much and see you starside! - Darley Quinn
@@TheAcidicMolotovI’m sure he’ll respond , unless he’s super used to $50 donations in streams as common that it doesn’t stand out. Edit, nvm he hearted it at least, he’s probably wiped from this project launch to respond
Not gonna lie, totally got a bit choked up at the end. If this was a theatre production, the audience would be on their feet whooping and cheering with the ovation to end all ovations. What a stupendous and fantastic piece of work. It was masterful.
"She didn't even have time to explain why she didn't have time to explain!" Thank you byf. This video was worth it just for that line alone. *chef's kiss*
That scene was peak incompetence by Bungie’s writers. She had plenty of time after the Black Garden mission to explain things, but they chose not to give the player any context.
@@CdrChaosShe still had to find realities and see if any of them would be able to survive themselves in order to fight the witness. She knew we would need to learn the true nature of light and dark, and simply set us on the right path, by helping us kill the black heart. She did not know if we would make it past yet, but merely hoped. Then she returned in beyond light, the pyramids had arrived and she understood that darkness was coming closer, and that she had to teach us its true nature before we tried to understand it ourselves. And thus, she was finally able to sit down, and had found a reality capable of victory, and explain.
10 years of your amazing love of the Destiny lore. For all these years, I have used you as a check and balance to all of the reading I have done of all the lore as it has come out. Hearing you add a little more to what I have taken away from my own readings has just become a common aspect of my life. All I know is that I am infinitely grateful that we were given this incredible game series over the last decade and a person like you to infuse the love of the story into a digestible way for more and more people to get into it. Seriously thank you for all of your hard work and all of your efforts and all of your care Byf!
Been playing since d1 when i was 6 with big bro, he graduated yesterday and we’re finally preparing to beat the game, watching this for our biggest brother cody who lost his battle with cancer when lightfall came out a few years back, whoever is reading thank you for taking the time to hear my story, fight on guardians.
I was 7 years now 18 played with my dad. The very first I've ever played was when i helped my dad on his account as he stepped away to stay alive on Crotas End Raid in D1
Man I wish I could have been on this journey but my parents wouldn’t let me get the dlc for the first day and the second game, way is quite some time after launch during the second dlc because of how much it lack the appeal of the first in that first year and never got back into it sadly, mostly beacuse of bf1 and monster hunter but glad to see it got to a better state but it’s currently state is also a bit sad
It’s truly incredible that this story is so good that people are willing, and incredibly excited to watch a 10 hour long video on the condensed version of the lore. Truly Destiny is a sci fi universe up there with the greats.
people give bungie writers a lot of flak. and I'm coming out here to say they are some of the best and most consistent writers for any game I've played, and I played a lot.
It’s only good because of the lore. The in game story of Destiny is on par with CW shows. This universe could be so much fucking better if they just embraced what actually makes it cool and unique
I had a tiny feeling “eyes up guardian” would lead us into the first intermission……and was absolutely caught speechless when I heard “they found hope, they found you” this is a genuine masterpiece. If they ever put another speaker in game…..Byf has to be the voice.
As someone who puts the game down and picks it back up many seasons/dlcs later. I really appreciate videos like this. Especially since a lot of content is just unavailable to play now
Even if you may never read this, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart! Like many others, the story of Destiny has been accompanied me for 10 years and you have played a big part in that. Your stories got me through my cancer. Always hoping to be able to be there until the "end"! You helped me through sleepless nights and pain. I can't put into words how grateful I am for that. I have achieved my goal and i’m looking forward to all the future stories. I will probably shed a tear while watching it tonight. Thank you for your hard work Byf. (Sorry for the spelling mistakes) Lots of love from Germany
Really stretching to hit that 10 minute mark, huh? But for real, holy crap this is incredible. This has gotta be one of the greatest achievements I've ever seen. I would not have nearly as much fun playing Destiny without Byf's lore videos. Thank you so much for everything you've ever done.
Finished! Thank you Byf for somehow managing to compress the six years I missed out into ten relatively short hours. You have clearly earned the title of Loremaster.😊
10 years ago, I dropped out of college after a failed suicide attempt, needing something to do I got this new game called Destiny. It helped me connect with people again, I was able to make friends and reenter *our* world. Just like our Guardian, able to do nothing but go forward and delve into this new place. I loved the game, but I never thought about the mental health journey until I saw the unbroken title. I had to have it, and I climbed the Mountaintop to get it. Now, 10 years after that suicide attempt. I raise my crayons to this game, this community, and the wonderful lore daddy. Without you, I would not have learned to get back up again. I am Unbroken thanks to you all. Edit: Hey thanks for your kind words everyone, I'm certainly happy to be here too. What a week though, I can't wait to get home and tackle these Echoes. See ya on the field Guardians!!
I wasn’t ready for this comment, you’re not alone in that experience. Stand tall, and remain unbroken. You might not have “the light,” but you certainly ARE a light.
You are absolutely not alone, as someone who has had and has equal struggles your post reminds me that when we fall we can rise again. The darkness corrupts as so many of us know but break the chains and rise to the occasion my fellow guardian
It's actually so cool to hear Byf saying "we" while talking about our guardian, going through all of the events of destiny 1 and 2. Hearing it makes me feel so nostalgic like "yeah I did go do that, yeah I did conquer the vault of glass, killed the taken king," etc etc. it's so nice to hear
It really feels like a storyteller recounting your legend. To New Lights, and children alike. I like to imagine Byf, veteran, sage scholar Warlock that he is, leaves his chambers of archives and scrolls, to sit and teach New Lights of the tales of Sol. Considering the history of Sol before the Collapse was lost.
I’ve always been a huge fan of viewing our character from an outside perspective because when you think about it, any other person must think we are the most insane guardian to ever exist. The sheer amount of gods, almost gods, false gods, machine gods, etc. we have killed is insane. In lore it’s YOU who has been the one to clear every single raid (and flawlessed them in lore), save the city, prevent even greater threats from appearing, and any other situations that needs someone to save it. We are literally the only guardian with light at a point, we saved Saint thought to be dead, unexiled Osiris, single handedly freed the traveller, and in a few days we will be the ones to take down the strongest god being we have seen yet. We are obviously the main character (no duh) but in lore the citizens of the last city most likely actually see us as THE Guardian. The stories of our feats are greater than any character in the lore.
@@garrettviewegh9028 I honestly didn't realize the dynamic in saying "we". To me it sounds like he's saying we did this together, but to new lights I can be taken as him talking about the legends of what we did. It's such good storytelling, he's always been super impressive with this I love it so much.
I like to think of it as “imagine we were on the same fireteam and were explaining it to a newcomer.” We all went on this journey. It belongs to us all.
@@MynameisByf honestly a really beautiful way of thinking about this. Thank you for this video, it filled me with so much nostalgia visiting these moments again. I'm not ready to end this 10 year saga but I'm excited! 💙🧡
Finally finished. My only regret is I have but 1 like to give. I watched ~4.5hrs of story before my guardian's story began in Destiny 2. I wish I could play this all from the beginning. Byf, you sir are a gentleman and a scholar. I hope Bungie cuts you a nice check or at least gives you a special thanks and in game credit. I have played much if this game and story but you actually made me understand it in it's entirety. Godspeed sir and thank you and your team for all your incredible work.
Could you possibly play D1 on a previous console by any chance? You can purchase the game and all the DLC for cheap nowadays, and you can do almost all of it solo. I know you’ve probably heard the storyline already but playing it is so amazing
I genuinely feel like this is a crowning moment for both the lore community and the game as a whole. Scrolling through the comments like I normally do, and not only seeing regulars who comment but also bigger RUclipsrs, it’s beyond clear that this video is bringing people together like never before. I picked this game up back when it came out, right when I was in middle school, I just graduated from college last week. Through thick and thin, I’m so happy I’ve been able to spend a legitimate chunk of my life with this community. I’m happy I’ve been able to take this journey. I’m so happy to see it off with you all. I love every one of you. See you star side.
I didn't really care about game lore much until i started hearing "Greetings Guardians" and now 10 years later, here we are. Thank you for bringing us along on this journey, LoreDaddy Byf ❤
There’s just something about Byf’s passion, is eloquent writing, and smooth voice, that brings this incredible universe to life. Destiny couldn’t ask for a better narrator/storyteller.
it’s still insane to me that i picked up this game when i was still just a kid, and here i am already graduated highschool and moving to college. this community and destiny as a whole has been nothing short of a gift for my life entirely. great work as always Byf, i’ll be listening to this for the next couple of days 💙
i just graduated i picked up this game on day 1 play on my dad's account for a while then made my own and now look at me my family calls destiny 2 my game and no one else's because no one plays it as much as i do and i would do it all again in a heart beat
Dude literally same. I just graduated a few days ago and I’m listening to this as I confirm my enrollment at my college. I picked the game up during forsaken and it still baffles me that it’s been a part of my life for this long. Keep your head up brother, we have plenty more ahead of us. o7
Same I just graduated from high school a week or two ago but I have been playing this series since before middle school when the taken king came out and I played it on my uncle’s ps4. This game and universe has seen me through a ton of phases in my life and I’ll be glad to see where it goes in the future
I was only 12 when I started now I'm 22 this game is and was one of the best parts of my abusive childhood and I am forever grateful...thx Bungie and thanks to all the fantastic people I met along the way
9:58:45 God, this made me tear up. Ten whole years of story, wrapped up in ten hours. I was there right before the Taken King came around. Around the time of SIVA is when I started to listen to your readings of the lore. It's been one hell of a ride. Thank you for this monumental video. For the New Lights, for the Vets, and for those that have long since hung up their bonds, their cloaks, or their marks, I'm happy to have interacted with each and every one of you whom have taken me through legendary stories, uproarious laughter, or maddening grudge matches in the Crucible. I hope to see many of you at The Pale Heart, where Destiny awaits. See you starside.
8:25 what a journey it has been. That swelling of the music has me tearing up with nostalgia. I was 15 when I first made my guardian and entered this universe. Being 25 now, I am so happy to have remained after all this time.
Destiny has been in my life so long, I'm so happy to share this part of me with all you strangers, blueberries, and fellow guardians. We make our own fate
I work night shift at a factory. I love these long videos because I don't have to sit there and queue up a bunch of videos for my shift. You are the original reason I got RUclips premium, so I could download your videos and listen at work. Off work currently after a surgery(torn ligament) so I'll be saving this when I go back in a month or two
Man. Just finished this up. What a monumental work of art you and the guys put together. I teared up on the final 2 minutes. I look back over the last 10 years. The guys/ my best friends I met in the D1 days. Met a few of them and invited them to my wedding. This game has allowed me to build relationships with my guys that I never dreamed possible. 10 years of conversations, 10 years of memories, 10 years of history. 10 years of Destiny, 10 hours of lore, and the final two minutes of reflection. Grateful for the impact this game had on me, not because it was fun and shit at the same time, but because of the brothers I now have because of it. I don’t know that there is anyone that could have summarized it up like you did in those last 2 minutes but man. Thank you for creating something that stirred my heart so deeply. Thank you for making this for us. Thank you for always being you, and always giving us clarity. It’s been an honor.
Went to a random Taco Bell ten years ago, the packaging was bright sky blue with a QR code to enter a giveaway for a PS4 and a copy of this new game called Destiny. I begged my mom to scan it and enter, and even though we never won, that game stuck with me. I shoveled snow all over my neighborhood that winter to save up for a copy, and I've stayed with it since. This game got me through middle school, high school, college, a pandemic, multiple breakups and family deaths. It's become a much bigger part of my life than I ever thought it would, and I can't wait to see where it goes next. Eyes up, Guardian.
It took me three full work days, but I finally watched (listened, mostly) through the whole 10 hour story. 10 hours, 10 years, 1 story. Thank you for this masterpiece of the lore.
My husband and I just sat down to start watching. It's only fitting 2 nights before the end of all things, that we start from the beginning and enjoy a look back at the last 10 years of a game that has taken up substantial time and space in ours and so many other guardian's lives, especially yours. Thank you Byf.
@@ebas21thank you for your kind words, but I don't need a medal. I have an amazing husband and it's easy being his wife. We may have been guardians for 10 years but we've been together for 20 yrs. 😊
Good god! As someone who has only ever dabbled a little in Destiny f2p and been thoroughly confused in an attempt to, in my own way, experience the journey of a Guardian through wiki entries, only having recently found out just how compelling the lore of this universe is, only ever having caught vague glimpses of the story at play through cutscenes and gameplay clips, this is a truly magnificent chronicling effort you have pulled of here, revealing a saga I truly did not know in its epic scale in comprehensive fashion. Even as it is mainly just a voice over retelling of the key points of story and lore there are to know, I would still count this 10 hour masterpiece among the best cinematic experiences I have been honored to witness. All due respect to the artists, writers, editors and all the work that has gone into this, you have far and away outdone yourselves.
id highly suggest getting it, ive been playing off and on since red war. i had no clue what i was doin or what i was missing. i quit playing after a few days. came back for deepstone crypt raid, and have been hooked since then. the game really opens up when you have people to play it with
Ten hour video for a ten-year journey. I became a Guardian around the tail end of Croat’s End, right before House of Wolves, and it’s been a long journey from then to now. Honestly barely passed the intro and I’m already super emotional…
I’ve played since day 1 of Destiny 1, 10 year old me BEGGED to get this game to play with my brother and uncle, and now here i am at 20 years old. The end of this game is more to me than just a story, it’s the end of my childhood, a chapter of life that has taken up well… half of my life. It’s bittersweet to say the least
This month my cousin passed away. He always was in my house and we played pokémon as child and then destiny during his adolescence. At 20 he became blind due to sicle cell anemia. Now with 26 he died. I regret not talking to him enough during this final years. Unfortunately he didn't speak english, but i am sure he would love to hear all the lore of Destiny. Even through all his hardships he never complained of anything. He would certainly be chosen as a Guardian of Light
Thank you for all you do. I am a D1 Beta player and fellow youtuber. You are the main reason I know as much lore as I do. Thank you for putting this all in one place. I got my mom into Destiny and I will watch this with her.
Byf got a much younger me to realize how great the lore of this game is shortly after I started playing D2 by teaching me all about the midnight coup. Once I was able to retell that story to others that I raided with, I fell in love with the concept of there being more than meets the eye in the world of D2, and have become an extensive lore master myself. Thank you, Byf!
As a new player to D2 this was an absolute must for catching up on the story that is no longer available. I could listen to Byf all day...wait...I did, never mind. Thank you for taking the time to complete the story from beginning to TFS, your effort is very much appreciated
The amount of effort you put into this stuff is just surreal. Bungie should have been paying you for your curations - there's sooooo much that no one would understand without you.
....all of the info byff has is literally in game, give or take the few tidbits when bungie decided to put lore on external sources during a period in destiny 1.
its why the lore in destiny is so good. all of it is accessible for you to read from the lore books. my favorite one to read was the series about elsy's original timeline. We learn why she resets. We learn why shes so confused about us. We learned why shes the way she is. But my biggest takeaway from that dark timeline was how fucking EPIC zevala is. Without that lore book, hed just be the stoic vanguard titan in my eyes. But in that timeline, he has 1 leg and demolishes the entire Scarlett Keep with a thundercrash. elsy witnesses mara sov die, eris morn is fully consumed by the darkness and the hive, and ana bray herself puts the final blow into elsy. She wakes up at square 1, trying to change the outcome, only to die and reset. Its not until we enter the picture and everything gets wacky that she finally gains hope, and why she teaches us to wield the darkness and no one else, its because in her timeline, stasis corrupted ana bray and eris morn.
Its crazy how long this journey has been. I remember my clanmmates child as a baby crying in the background on headset, or having to run something quick while he was asleep. Ive done raids with that kid this past year, wild how time goes.
10 years ago I didn't have a clue what this was other than those that made Halo had part in this. During the time I had just got news that my Mother had stage 4 cancer. Destiny brought me into this world to detour my pain and surely random party invites would get me through my first raid not even knowing it was called that. I slowly would use RUclips alot to figure things out then eventually I heard "Greeting Guardians"... The rest was history. Thank you for giving us the mysteries to life. Hearing you tell this lore brought peace in restless days. I appreciate this.
On your opening comments, I myself am not very active on RUclips or other social media. Mostly because I feel I have very little important to say. I would, however, like to say now that I feel this community owes you an immense debt. There is no combination of words in the english language I could put together to express my gratitude at how you have enriched my experience in this universe. I know you often stress how your videos are not the work of you alone, but your contribution to great works like this one and Dynasty are significant and they would never had been made real without you. Thank you Byf. I do not know what the future holds, but I do know with absolute certainty that what Destiny is today or what it will be tomorrow would be lesser without you.
This is what I love about Destiny. Its bountiful lore and the vibrant community that is passionate learning about it, discussing it, and telling it. Many of us probably wouldn’t be playing Destiny still without the story and the folks that love it. Thank you for this masterpiece of a video, Byf!
10 years ago, in my last semester of college, I would commute to school and stay with friends for two nights during the week. One week my friend asked if I wanted to go to a midnight release at Best Buy, to pick up a limited-edition PlayStation they preordered. It was a beautiful marbled white machine with gold trimmings. That night I watched them boot up Desitny for the first time. The following week, they asked if I wanted to create my own character and give it a try. After reviewing the classes, I could feel one resonate with me. Speed, precision... a hand cannon. At that moment I began my decade long tenure as a Hunter. Thank you for putting so much love and care into weaving your tale of the Light and Dark Saga.
Byf, I would just like to thank you personally for dedicating all these years of your life to teaching us the lore of this amazing universe. You are a pillar of this community, and it would never feel the same without you and your dedication and passion for your videos! Your love for the subject truly shines through and makes your videos true art. We love you Byf!
For years byf impacted the destiny community with lore videos. Everyone involved making this. Byf, the artists, the Lore Vault etc yall deserve the biggest applaud for the hard work.
I’m not quite sure if you’ll ever read this comment but I have to just say that I appreciate all that your channel stands for. Well over a decade ago I started working in construction and shortly after began playing Destiny, which has become my favorite game over the past 10 years. I have heavily recommended this channel to anybody slightly interested in the destiny universe. Now all these years later I own my own Construction business and enjoy the freedom of sitting down and playing whenever I like (I’ve got a pretty good boss) 😂 Looking back over the last 10 years, I can say one of my favorite past time was getting to the job site and popping in my headphones to listen to the latest Byf video while I worked to pass the time. I feel like you, me and the destiny universe have all grown together over these years. Thank you for all that you do. I love this channel!

I'm not even half way through and this project just makes me realize how massive and expensive the lore of Destiny spans. Byf is even lightly touching on some of these subjects, only highlighting the main events. Destiny needs to expand past video games. More people need to experience this
I remember being a little boy, still in elementary school getting access to the alpha of destiny 1 and being so excited, I immediately played the game when it opened and fell in love with it. I pre ordered the game not long after and remember it being the best birthday month of my life when I got it from gamestop right before my birthday. I have played it since then and even when bungie had its ups and downs, Destiny will always have a place in my heart no other game will ever have. To think the story I’ve been playing since I was a kid is about to be over, from elementary school to past high school graduation. This game has truly changed me and everyone else its touched. It’s amazing to see this story finally coming to a conclusion sooner than ever. We love you Bungie, and we all love the amazing community members and content creators like you Byf. ❤️❤️❤️
so much love and care put into this video by SO MANY wonderful people! thank you everyone involved for your passions in telling stories and sharing in community. this majestic video wouldn't exist with one Soul alone. its the many that allow this beauty to flourish
You posted this video a month ago so you may not see this, but I wanted to say thank you. You're a pillar in the community in my opinion and your tellings of lore always manage to encapsulate my mind while I'm at work. It's one thing to read it on my own, which I always do regardless. It's another to hear the perspectives and thoughts of our lore daddy as it adds so much more.....gravitas, I suppose one could say, to my own perspectives since hearing the opinions of others more well-versed in a subject can greatly enhance your own current understanding. Again, thank you for your hard work, and thank you for simply being you.
10 years of destiny, finally coming to a head. Eyes up Guardians time to make our own fate. Thank you Byf for everything you've put out all these years, from the early beginnings to now, your evolution as a lore master has truly been an amazing journey. Per Audacia Ad Astra
All the lore of Destiny, with many details, condensed to 10 hours at best. I don't know who even gifted me membership, but regardless, thank you Byf, for explaining Destiny's story in one video.
I remember the first Destiny trailer. The hype; the chills. The light of the Sun blazing across the red sands took me to a place that would be my home for years to come. I was there when we pushed Atheon off the ledge with Solar grenades. I was there when we permastunned Crota, entered the Prison of Elders for the first time, and crafted the first Touch of Malice. I was there when the tower was taken and when we lost our light, and I was there when we found it again. I was there when we mourned the loss of friend and a leader, and I was there when that loss hit us in real life, too. I stepped away some time ago, to raise little lights of my own, and when I exited The Witch Queen’s throne world for the last time, I knew I most likely wouldn’t see these frontlines again. But these stories make a grizzled and grumpy Guardian smile again. The memories and struggles, the years spent, the sweat lost. Thank you, Destiny. Thank you, Bungie. Thank you, Byf.
i've recently started playing destiny with my husband, who is a long, long time lover of the world with thousands of hours invested into the series. i have completely and utterly fallen in love with the world presented to me through him and had yearned to learn more. this video is wonderful already, only 20 minutes in. comprehensible and an easy listen. thank you for taking the time to pour the love and commitment into this video that it deserved. spectacularly done.
You have truly no idea how much this helps. I showed up in season of the plunder, and have just... known that I wouldn't ever fully understand. Now I can. All the applause for you, sir.
I was shocked to see "Dynasty" in my recommended was released over 2 years ago. On that video I stated that Byf and those involved in the content creation process have done unbelievable work covering the Destiny franchise. Two years later and I still cannot put into word how much these videos are appreciated. To have 10 years of storytelling summarised in 10 hours, creates a moment of life reflection. Who would have thought that in September of 2014 a conclusion to this story would be on the horizon. You have my regards Byf, for being and continuing to be one of the greatest Destiny content creators over the years.
9:58:24 Ok.. I've been watching your lore video during my workouts and cardio for the past week and the last speech synced perfectly with my last sprint before I finished...I was literally the guardian sprinting into battle with the witness and shed a tear on that damn treadmill. Thank you 🫡
Gotta hand it to you byf for spoon feeding us for all these years. I feel I wouldn’t have half as much of a clue of the games story/lore without you. Thanks man, you’re a legend.
For the first time in years I have disabled my adblocker and not skipped the sponsorship read of a video. 10 hours of history, my man, you deserve every like, share, cent of donations and ad revenue you can. Your content is astonishing and amazing, and I think this is the only video on youtube of this length that I will ever watch in full length
My partner wanted to add to my other super thanks. He is such a destiny nerd and has been playing since day one of destiny 1. He got me into it. This video was an awesome reminder for him about how amazing destiny can be! Thanks again
Its honestly a trip down memory lane, watching the old chunks of lore you've covered, along with the new lore. It takes me back to when I used to be a Sophomore in high school, joining the Destiny community way back in the Taken King era.
Just the intro brought tears. Thank you so much Byf for doing what you do. You’re the reason why I’ve continued to enjoy Destiny. Words aren’t enough to express the years of joy you’ve brought.
I was 14 and just bought an Xbox 360 from my first job when I first started playing destiny and started watching your lore videos. I am now 23 still playing destiny and still watching lore videos. Much love Byf
oh man... hearing "the end of the light and dark saga" got me surprisingly emotional, this universe means more to me than even I know, so thank you Byf for highlighting every corner that I do and don't fully know about
I'm so glad you got James to do the music. He's been a pillar of the destiny music fandom that goes unappreciated by most people a lot of the time. I'm so glad you see that spark in him.
Definitely a quiet watcher myself but these videos are the only reason I have ever returned to Destiny the many times I have. When I feel that tug again to play, and there have been 1 or more DLC's to release, I come here for my refresher and motivation to return. Thank you for the hard work, the quality is unmatched, and that voice is pretty unparalleled as well haha. Thanks for the hours of content!
Can't appreciate how much these videos mean to me. I started in D1, first day, met amazing people along the way and unfortunately had to say goodbye to many of them. It has been a massive journey and the videos and information of you, Byf, just add to the whole experience of it. Whenever I had a rough time and couldnt play destiny. I would watch your videos and just listen to the world of destiny and trying to "be there". I salute you so much for all the hard work you do and the contribution to the destiny world. Much appreciated!
Yooo I had no idea this video was out! I’ve been playing this franchise since the D1 Alpha, and your lore breakdowns have been as much a necessity to my understanding and enjoyment as Datto’s tutorials! This vid Is a clear labour of love, and an awesome way to complete your telling of this story after all these years. Glad to have had you , Byf, and this great community by my side!
To anyone reading this - just hit that like button. It costs you absolutely nothing. Byf has WAY MORE than earned it. Even if you don't like Byf, even if you don't like his videos, if you're here watching this video - just support a guy putting in this much earnest effort. It supports the community. It pushes this game and this universe we love so much, forward. Byf - if you read this, all I can say is, thank you. From the bottom of all our hearts!

Byf you truly are an irreplaceable piece of the destiny community. I found your channel many years ago through tslayp and I’ve been consistently watching your content ever since. The quality and effort you put into your work is amazing and I always come back to it when I need a relaxing video to listen to. You’re absolutely incredible, Byf.
A well spoken and beautifully demonstrated video. I’ve been watching you for nearly as many years as hours in this masterpiece. Thank you for always delivering on destiny lore and scratching the itch for me. The true GOAT of lore and storytelling.
Never played Destiny. Just finished after 4.5 months of watching bits and pieces where I could before bed. The ending line gave me chills. Thank you Byf and team. This was clearly a labor of love, and I hear your passion. It’s infectious. It’s made me a fan

I find it truly incredible, that I’ve played both games and all expansions, and know nothing of ANY of this!
It’s only good because of the lore. The in game story of Destiny is on par with CW shows. This universe could be so much fucking better if they just embraced what actually makes it cool and unique
“Good” may be the stretch of the century
I had a tiny feeling “eyes up guardian” would lead us into the first intermission……and was absolutely caught speechless when I heard “they found hope, they found you” this is a genuine masterpiece. If they ever put another speaker in game…..Byf has to be the voice.

And just like our Guardians, you *became legend*
Glad you’re still here to help finish this saga, Guardian o7

I genuinely feel like this is a crowning moment for both the lore community and the game as a whole.

Same start point for me.
That's where I joined in. Haven't missed anything since. Such a huge part of my life.
10 hours for 10 years of Destiny Lore. It's just absolute cinema.
A great story well told and wrapped up in a BEAUTIFUL ending. Thanks for this. It was worth the hours.
To think I got this game on accident 9 years ago, thank you byf for helping to break the lore down over the years
This is what I love about Destiny.
Now all these years later I own my own Construction business and enjoy the freedom of sitting down and playing whenever I like (I’ve got a pretty good boss) 😂
Looking back over the last 10 years, I can say one of my favorite past time was getting to the job site and popping in my headphones to listen to the latest Byf video while I worked to pass the time.

This might be the single greatest piece of independent media I’ve ever seen. Amazing job!!!
Thank you 🫡
"They found something. The found hope. They found... you". Epic. That gave me goosebumps...
Tears droped 🤣

Gotta hand it to you byf for spoon feeding us for all these years. I feel I wouldn’t have half as much of a clue of the games story/lore without you. Thanks man, you’re a legend.
For the first time in years I have disabled my adblocker and not skipped the sponsorship read of a video.
10 hours of history, my man, you deserve every like, share, cent of donations and ad revenue you can.
Your content is astonishing and amazing, and I think this is the only video on youtube of this length that I will ever watch in full length
Wanted to get into destiny for years. Just bought everything that wasnt sunsetted. Excited to get into it. Thank god for this video. Like its fate
This is genuinely the best lore video I have ever watched. I got goosebumps from the "You" when referring the the introduction of our guardian.
You def didn't play destiny 1 you fraud
Oh its time for 9hrs of peak cinema
It’s crazy to think that I’ve been playing this game for 10 years. Thank you for being a part of the journey
I know, started as a teenager, and now I'm 2 months from being 25.
crazy how I've been here through all of this.
That last sentence was pure chills, this was cinema.
That motivational speech at the end really got to me, Byf. You're such a gem and a great addition to the Destiny community. Thank you for this video.
From the bottom of all our hearts!
man i would love to if it didnt take 10 min to get into the video asking for likes thanking people and last and least a sponsor. dislike and dont recommend channel
@@Xivuarath-p4o do you know how much work this takes? He more than earned the right to say that not to mention he just put a bookmark to a head of it.
@@super-manny5648 nah im with @user-vg6bv3fp9y.If you have to beg for likes and subs for the first half of your video, im good not coming back. And its Destiny lore. Not a classic work of art or something ground breaking in story tellin that needs to be explained. For 10 hours.
@@super-manny5648 don't bother with that one, this bot is just looking to farm engagement 😄
@@Xivuarath-p4o 1. You could just skip them if they bother you so much. 2. That is literally such a small part of the video. 10 minutes out of 10 hours? He more than deserves a chance to put those things out there for all the work they've all put into this.
legendary video truly got me feeling how far we have come in these great years of destiny!
