Giant panda Yuan Yuan gives birth to a second daughter in Taiwan

Taiwan is celebrating the arrival of the second giant panda ever born on the island. New mother Yuan Yuan gave birth to the healthy female cub at Taipei zoo on June 28, 2020, after five hours of labour. Parents Yuan Yuan and her partner Tuan Tuan have been top attractions on the self-ruled island since they arrived as gifts from the Chinese mainland in 2008 as symbols of then warm relations across the Taiwan Strait.

Agreed, although I have to say human birth is just like that. (With a bed though as they can’t stand) My mothers birth was awful she said, all the nurses were men, they had no idea what they were doing, and when she couldn’t do it they got mad at her and threatened a c section. Luckily the second came out better :)

True! I did feel that! It really hurted to see it struggling in labour pain inside a cage on the empty floor! I mean poor animal it also has feelings like human! A little more comfort would ease the pregnancy process

I understand they want to document it but couldn't they give her some privacy? Maybe just set up a camera and have 1 caretaker sit in to make sure there aren't complications or anything, rather than a group of them taping the process?
It's because if sth goes wrong, one human will not be enough to assist a panda in labour

It's just so odd and amazing how such a large animal can give birth to such a tiny baby. Momma panda gave birth to a newborn puppy, and yet that little panda girl will grow 400-600 pounds by adulthood.

I honestly don’t care if a few humans die. We are in the billions, this outnumbers most animal species. And yes animal populations will gradually increase as humans aren’t destroying their habitats as we are in quarantine (some of us are free of quarantine)
thats just called nature mate when the amount of predators increases the amount of prey decreases and vice versa. works the same with humans though we dont consider ourselves as predators (tho we are) lol, we do take over land and their habitats mainly.

All the pandas ( including newborns) belong to mainland China. If I remember correctly, after 2 years, newborn pandas have to go back to China.

China lend Pandas to Zoos all over the world. Panda babies born in other countries are belonged to China.
The first Panda arrived in the US, as I heard when I was a kid, the zoo paid China over 1 million USD a year for having a panda.
The cost of transporting and taking of those pandas are a lot more than that.
