Bird Park's 'Foster Daddy' To Baby Endangered Birds

- Baby birds like macaws, lorikeets, birds of paradise and cockatoos are hand-raised by a team of four "foster parents" at Singapore's Jurong Bird Park.
From when they were eggs in an incubator, to hatchlings being hand-fed, to fledglings learning to fly, these endangered birds have their (almost) papa bird, Mark Rusli, to thank.

most people don't realize actually how difficult this is; and for so many birds who are also very intelligent, crafty and attention seeking. esp as babies demanding; but you have to very delicate too. Considering the intelligence of parrots it's like having a hoard of agile flying toddlers to look after carefully but they can inadvertently land sharp bites.

This reminds me of the time few years ago when I found a newborn baby bird that was apparently a yellow black oriole in the playground and I gave it to the bird rescuers when they came by.

Jurong Bird Park is amazing! I have such a good picture of my sister looking very upset at the fact that two loris are fighting on top of her head. Unfortunately I haven't been back to Singapore in a hot while. Hopefully I can go back soon!
