- Hey, guys. This is a quick update from me on the future of this channel. Because of the fear of Studio Ghibli copyright striking my videos (they already send me one) I've decided to delete most of my Studio Ghibli videos.
I will keep posting videos as usual, but simply can't risk making Studio Ghibli videos atleast for some time!
I hope you guys understand my situation! Thank you.

Yes! In some parts of the world, for sure. Or maybe RUclips needs to implement something that safeguards fair use. At this point, it is way too easy to get a video completely taken down!
@@wonderescence Definitely. RUclips is also very vague about what gets you a copyright strike, probably because it's all done by AI. They won't tell you exactly what you did wrong (I'm not talking about copyright specifically). RUclips doesn't give a 🦆
@@wonderescence You should appeal. The copyright depends on YOUR jurisdiction. If what you are doing is FAIR USE, Ghibli has no stance. Also I would not support Ghibli anymore. They are a rotten company as you can see. Japanese companies are quite rotten in many instances.
@@peterc4082 I would've done so if my channel was slightly bigger. Otherwise, it is a measured risk. I heard people say if you appeal it, they might reverse it. But the odd chance they don't, I don't want any legal troubles. And the way this system works, if you appeal it, from that point onwards, youtube doesn't have any responsibilites, it's completely between the parties involved. And yeah, most Japanese studios are like this!
@@wonderescence OK. If you researched appeals that's OK. If it's the case that a successful appeal resets your strike count, great. A failed appeal should do no worse, right? It's not as though YT would punish you for appealing. But I can see why not covering Ghibli is a thing for you. Japanese studios actually have no rights in overseas jurisdictions, that is if what you did was legal in your country, Japan can fly a kite. Fair use allows the use of some parts of the copyrighted work to offer criticism, educate, etc.
My empathy for Japan has declined a lot recently. I would be quite sympathetic to them but given all the nonsense their companies get up to, I think maybe China can have Japan. Honestly once US pulls out as it will, Japan will be a province of China. A vassal state. Have a good day.
Japanese copyright laws are a nightmare. A lot of RUclipsrs using their IP will block their content in Japan.
Japanese let's players don't play Japanese games on Twitch or YT.

Such a discouraging event to hear, I believe the fair use is indeed valid here, you did transform the content in a meaningful way for critique, comment, even good enough for educational purpose. That video reminded me of my lecturer that always give insights and the reason to love film and anime. I once created a video essay and assignment about film and I understand the struggle to research for the idea, research, analysis, edit the video, it was not easy. Stay strong brother. At least Ghibli did notice and recognize your video, although not in a good way. 🔥
Fair use is a grey area for sure, even in the US, where RUclips is base in, but at least it offers a counter argument if need be, unlike in some parts of the world, where it is completely absent! But, I'll keep making other videos though, and thank you for the comment and the support! ❤
I was procrastinating to watch The Tale of Princess Kaguya and then watch your video about it. I finally watched it and I liked it very much, and now I was met with this bad news... what a bad luck

Yeah, I tried making a ghibli edit today I worked hard on.
Totaled 1 minute long, I know its not the same because you deep dive which is under fair use.
I think as long as you aren't seriously posting a whole movie and you are putting some sort of creative effort into it as a fan you shouldn't have a video completely took down or struck like that.
I know right! But I think as long as we make content around copyrighted material, we always run the risk of getting claimed or copyright stuck. It's unfortunate that fair use is such an uncertain concept in different countries.

Also the world you’re talking about passed a few hundred years ago and those were the times where art as a profession was not celebrated the way it is today.
At the rate people consume and recycle media in the name of cheap postmodernism, it is unfair that people who work hard to bring these things to life.
I agree it is harsh on the creator of this channel that he got demonized but that is no excuse to make childish statements like getting rid of IP laws.
Cant you put the videos on unlisted and advertise them on other socials?

He could reupload his content on Patreon or KoFi and bring in a new and recent audience to watch the videos he can no longer post on RUclips. I will gladly pay $6 to $10 to watch his videos and behind the scenes of his writing and how he creates the vlogs.
