I met Harvey Fierstein back around the time when he was writing the book for LaCage aux Folles... He came to the Gay & Lesbian Youth Center in NY. He was gracious, funny and charming. He was also the grand marshall for the Gay Pride parade in 1984. He was on stage at the piere when it started to rain... He said, in his raspiest voice, "It's not really raining, we're just washing our hair." When it started to rain harder, he exclaimed, "Now, we're conditioning!"
why didn't he start singing "Dont Rain On My Parade"? 😛
his voice
I would NOT have expected a voice like that from someone who looked like a teenager.
How great to see Vito as the commentator. He was a great activist and missed.
such a sweet man...it shows
LOVE HF
Gorgeous and talented and such a sweetheart.
He's so cute in this. Gorgeous and talented and such a sweetheart.
Harvey was so cute back then... amazing eyes...
The announcer on this clip was also an interviewee/focal character in the documentary on the Names Project; so many beautiful people from the not-so-distant-past that are no longer with us. It was good to see Vito preserved here on YT. Thank you for this clip.
I love it! I just got cast as David in the 25th anniversary production of Torch Song in Denver!
i agree, love them both.
Love him!
love to see harvey do a follow up part 2, bring the story up to date, the sad aspect of course is the loss of Ann Bancroft, she was amazin as his mother
He didn't choose the bunny life, the bunny life chose him.

He almost resembles Robert Downy Jr. in that clip....
His voice and Nas' rap-delivery... man I'd be a hit overnight.
I miss Vito:-(
Yes, me too. I was twenty-something. Thanks for the comments.
Whoa, he has a passing resemblance to Rob Lowe in this clip, which is not a bad thing at all.
Is the interviewer Vito Russo???
Yes
He should go on the JRE podcast
hi thanks, have you seen the Tom Ford movie yet?
The host is Vito Russo!
I just threw my own mother out, all she wanted was not talk about it. Do you really think I will demand any less from you?
Just existing was controversial
That`s how Whitney Houstons voice sounds now.
@Forevermoonlight13 yeah, when hes singing about a girl though, yao might not be gay, but harvey is in real life
Knew he smoked... 😆
@JackHauss Not anymore.
I miss vito russo.
He was cute
If lucifer was gay....
While I like the song I am what I am I prefer Sing if your glad to be gay by Tom Robinson.

Gay=:(
This is a man?
He was suprisingly attractive.
