Wow. With Hairspray being one of my favorite musicals, it was great being able to watch a bit of its process in rehearsals, especially with its outstanding original cast!
+Becca Rose Hairspray isn't one of my favorites but I do admire the music and story. I share the same feeling as you being great to see the original cast bring it all together. I sometimes wish to go back to 2002 and see Marissa Harvey Matthew Kerry Corey Jackie bring this already timeless Cinderella story to life.
BREAKING NEWS: Dick Latessa just passed away today at the age of 87. So sad. So luck I got to see you as Wilbur live on Broadway. Hairspray was only my 2nd Broadway show. You were always TIMELESS TO EVEREYONE!!! RIP
ChirsRoderosVlogs I won't be surprised if you are right. Hairspray isn't one of my favorite musicals but I'm so excited for this broadcast nonetheless.
+Cali Mullen If you want to audition for Hairspray Live, the open casting call audition for Tracy will be on Sunday April 24th in New York City. The casting call was announced today. ThatKidNamed Daniel I heard about that.....and FOX doing Rocky Horror. It's exciting for me to see musicals becoming slowly mainstream popular again. And this LIVE format is the best.
+ThatKidNamed Daniel I heard last Wednesday and I'm so excited for it. I've enjoyed the Sound of Music, Peter Pan and the Wiz and they were not great but really good. However with a little effort and a cast and creative team as good as the Wiz, NBC just may be even luckier than ever.
+Justin M I know I'm a big musical theatre fan and it's great that the musical is back not just on the big screen but the small screen as well. I'm excited for Grease Live in less than two weeks.
Hairspray isn't one of my favorites but it's a true modern Broadway classic. I prefer the stage version over the two movie versions! Also who wants Harvey Fierstein to reprise Edna in NBC's live TV production this December?
He is ❤️❤️❤️❤️ the minute it was announced that he was revising the script for television I had a slight feeling that not only is he revising the script he's going to write it specifically so he could be able to be Edna again 😂 so far NBC has done a fine job with casting for the live event. Harvey, Jennifer, Martin, and Derek are ABSOLUTELY perfect for the parts that they've been cast in...
ChirsRoderosVlogs I had a slight feeling too and I'm happy for Harvey. Jennifer may be a little too young for Maybelle but her voice has the quality that the character demands. I was actually thinking Stephanie Mills after she played Auntie Em in the Wiz Live would step in but I'm okay. Jennifer was Effie in Dreamgirls for crying out loud ten years ago. Martin I had faith he would be involved and Derek I was hoping he would play Link and I have not seen him on Dancing with the Stars before. However, I think playing Corny sounds good but I was hoping for either Neil Patrick Harris or Matthew Morrison.
+Manuel Orozco if I'm not mistaken I think they might be doing open calls for Link Larkin as well it would be interesting to have two fresh faces play Tracy and Link respectively.
ChirsRoderosVlogs Where did you hear that? I won't be surprised if they do the same thing for Penny & Seaweed our little Romeo and Juliet in the story.
It's so weird seeing this tentative rehearsal and fast-forward to today and it's a huge show that everyone knows and loves.
One year later we're getting ready to see the live tv version fast how time flies lol

This show must return to Broadway!!!!
+Andrés Sáez Perhaps it comes back in the next 11 years for it's 25th anniversary.
+Manuel Orozco depending on how Hairspray Live does it could possibly head back to Broadway in a couple of years
ChirsRoderosVlogs I won't be surprised if you are right. Hairspray isn't one of my favorite musicals but I'm so excited for this broadcast nonetheless.
Andrés Sáez AGREE!!!
I can imagine that within the next 5 to 10 years it hopefully will
Omg! At 0:18 4:21 and 4:27 that's LBB in the blue shirt!! 😂😂👏🏻👌
I am so excited to see this ..... Harvey is going to kill it and what a fantastic cast and the girl playing Tracey is fantastic.
Don't forget Marissa Jaret Winokur is cameoing in the show as one of Mr. Pinky's employees alongside original film Tracy Ricki Lake.
This was the first broadway show I saw that really made me realize I want to do theatre
+Jeni Cote My first touring Broadway show was Wicked at the Pantages then Hairspray and I'm happy for you.
is it bad i started to cry watching this
Tracy is my dream role
+Cali Mullen That's cool in fact you audition for the NBC Live TV production this December.

Whos ready for a Hairspray revival and National tour !!!
Id settle of a professionally filmed version of the show live. Something I think they should do for every show.
+Justin M NBC Just announced that their next musical recorded live will be Hairspray!
