This is actually a demonstration of Carol's incredible talent as a comedianne (sp?). Being able to turn a disaster into a joke is a rare skill, and then to go on with the show are characteristics of an amazing professional.

The most hilarious part of this: Ruthie screaming "'E SPLIT 'IS PANTS!"

  • @Slapmybabushka

The best part is John Barrowman's reaction.
Though I must say Carol handled it well. I know I had my skirt fall off in a performance once and I literally had to grab my skirt and run off stage in the middle of the number. I was so embarrassed!

I love the varying levels between the three men’s reactions. Bronson is quietly in shock, George is full on belly laughing and John is just bouncing around in hysterical glee 😂

I love how, if you watch carefully, you can see her skirt getting longer as the dance goes on, and you can see her start to move around less and less and she realizes what's happening!

This is the best thing i've seen in...my life.
John Barrowman was hysterical! And how Ruthie Henshall started dancing, and then yelling 'HE SPLIT HIS PANTS'.

Was a very funny moment, especially in live theatre. Burnett did her best and I can only imagine way the Musical Director and orchestra not to mention other cat members were thinking as she was stopping the show! Did think that Barrowman's reaction was a tad over the top, but Oh well, was worth it all. Someone asked what the song was, and someone answered 'Drive a Person Crazy' from 'Company' but that was the orchestral prelude. 'Back in Business', I believe was from film, 'Dick Tracy'!

That just seems to be the way he is as a person - if he finds something hilarious, he'll make sure to show it to everyone. It can be a bit strange, but I really like it. To me it always seems he's a kind of "What you see is what you get"-person, which I love.

@MaryBridget12 And I don't think the audience would have been upset about it - I'd have been right made up if that had happened in a show I have paid to see - it makes it memorable, different. I also would have been so happy to be seeing such a bunch of legends that really, I wouldn't care. And Barrowman was completely in character, I'm sure he's always like that.

    • @Nightwing20

It was always one of Carol Burnett's trademarks. Missing the curtain, tugging her ear, intentionally going flat on notes to try and crack the other person up (notably Julie Andrews...)

i think john's reaction was totally appropriate. i know plenty of people who have reactions like that when something that funny happens! he's very emotional and isn't afraid to show it! nothing wrong with that.

  • @nave3826

    Is that Ruthie Henshall??

  • @victoriaacrage6342
    @victoriaacrage6342 14 лет назад

Also, it would have completely detracted from the overall performance if she had let her skirt fall down - in the middle of the song! I agree, in any normal production, she should've waited it out. But, there was choreography which would have made her skirt fall down sooner and would have possibly stopped the performance anyway.

John Barrowman's over-reaction is very typical of him - he's always 'on' and totally hyper when on the stage or TV. Personally I find it forced and a bit irritating, but he is consistently like this, it appears to be his natural personality.
