You can say that again! I have been on crutches all my life, I have cerebral palsy since birth. I wish someone would have asked me to prom or any of our dances in high school.

Bradley is an amazing guy. Bradley being a popular student truly has a heart of gold. Most popular teens in high school would laugh and make fun of Ellie. He saw Ellie for who she is. There’s no reason why Ellie couldn’t go to the prom. I’m so glad she had an amazing time.🙂
This is why I hate popular people and even knowing that Bradley is popular would make me want to walk away from him or roast him or do anything, but what I do like about him is what he did with Ellie.

What an amazing young man. For him to see someone like her as a normal human being and doesn't see a chair but the person, that's amazing. Anyone who is confined to a chair should NEVER be judged, bullied or made fun of He gave her the best gift and that is friendship and prom. Wow!

You know, as a young girl who had some medical issues I longed for someone to stand up to the bullies...that never happened. There were times when the "clique" of bullies would try to do cruel things like befriend a new (boy) student, and ask the guy to pay attention to me. I always declined because I "KNEW' what those kids were up to. They also made young girls that they would have never taken into their fold, part of their "clique" just to be mean. I found the "Fairy Tale" that I am sure some of those kids in my high school class only dreamt about. The man I married could have cared less about the medical issues I had(which weren't properly diagnosed until we had been married for 10 yrs.) He was one in a million as a husband and father.(He has since passed away) To see this young man be able to give a classmate a wonderful experience like this reminds me of something my 2nd son did at HIS prom. His dad and I had been asked to be chaperones (along with 6 other couples who were parents of the other students Jr & Sr High students) Our son didn't tell us anything about the prom, he actually was surprised that we agreed to be chaperones TBH. He had a classmate that was wheelchair bound. She was a very sweet young girl. Our son and his date arrived with the 2 other couples that they had went to dinner with and everything seems to be going great, the kids dances and had fun and about 90 minutes into the prom, I noticed our son going over to the girl who was in a wheelchair. He bend over to her and said something to which she shook her head.....he was a little insistent the second time, and she smiled and when the music started, he gently picked her up out of her wheelchair and began slow-dancing with her in his arms. Well, I'll admit that EVERY single chaperone was in tears & smiles at the end of that dance. The girls parents were there as well (as chaperones)...and WOW....it was absolutely and amazing thing to see. I knew then that we had RAISED ALL of our children to be KIND to others. Never did I ever want (nor did I ever hear) to hear that one of our children made fun of another classmate....it is cruel and due to what I went thru at the small village school I attended I VOWED that my children were going to be raised differently. Different enough to be able to respect others even if they had medical issues.....no one is perfect and we are all "Normal" that is what my DH and I wanted to be able to teach our children and we succeeded beyond measure!!! Brandon Ritchie parents are a rare breed.....Thank you Mr.& Mrs. Ritchie for raising a wonderful young man that I'm sure will be a wonderful husband & father someday.

Cool story. Not done for fame or glamour, just doing something nice for a friend. Question: Why is the education system not spending more time on figuring out why some schools have awesome close-knit friendly kids, and others are rife with bullying/abuse? You'd think someone would look into this, and figure out how to get all schools being more proactive on teaching kids to be good to each other.
about the bullying/abuse thing, some schools are in bad areas sometimes meaning more kids get treated badly at home (physical abuse, sexual, etc.) then the kids take out their anger on others, since they don't know how to handle it a majority of the time. sometimes kids are just real mean, though. bullying is mainly a reflection of the kid taking out anger on their own issues and in some wealthier areas kids don't have as many issues as kids in less well off. idk, just a theory i guess
