  • This summer, Tennessee native Chloe posted a heartbreaking video on TikTok about her 8-year-old sister, Charlotte, only receiving one birthday party RSVP in the wake of their mom's death from brain cancer. Chloe was devastated, until she woke up the next day to dozens of responses from strangers near and far wanting to help. Charlotte's birthday ended up being bigger than she could ever imagine, with special decorations, new friends, pony rides, a Jeep present parade, giant pythons, and a whole lotta love! Kelly meets Chloe and the birthday girl, and surprises them with a family vacation!

Chloe is a special person, who has much responsibility at age 28. She's a wife, a business owner, and is raising, alonw with her husband, a young stepson, their own child and now her sister. I wish that had been brought out during the interview on Kelly's show. That's a lot for anybody. Great story.

My daughter's birthday party was last weekend it was her first since her father left her life, she was turning 11. I shaved every penny as a single mom to give her a party at a bowling alley that's what she wanted I got one RSVP I had paid for eight kids the time for the party to start rolls around and there's nobody and I can see the panic in my daughter and I'm just reassuring her you know people are late sometimes but in my heart I'm freaking the f out I don't care about what I paid or whatever I just don't want my baby's heart to be broken. Slowly five of her friends trickled in so only two didn't come and one of the kids had his her brother and sister who were going to go on the other side and do it by themselves I was able to just throw them in the party too and they got all the fun stuff so it worked out okay but gosh that Mom panic about birthday parties is not talked about enough

Then at the age of 56 while teaching English in Venezuela my students threw me a birthday party. 3 blocks of houses on the street where I lived were blocked off and every house had a table in front with food and drinks and over 1,000 people attended. Until that moment I had no idea what I had been missing my whole life. I am so happy this happened for this young lady. This birthday will cement in her heart what love is. I ended up getting two of my friends from the class to go with me and we were the only ones that showed up!! To this day I am thankful for my mom pushing me to go because seeing how happy it made her was worth it and I couldn’t imagine no one showing up.

Yes, your mom gave you a valuable life lesson there. I don't care if the kid is a dork or unpopular or whatever, if someone invites your child to a party and you can afford a gift then send your child with that gift and teach them that sometimes being a good person means spending two or three small hours of your life to make someone else happy. And sometimes really good things can come out of that. Not the least of which are empathy & good character.

I've taken them on excursions when they were younger to different events happening within an hour's drive from home. Even took my friend's daughter to Canada around her 16th birthday. I would've been there if I lived anywhere nearby (I live in Greece now, but used to live in NY), you could've told your child that I was a distant cousin when I showed up! I don't do birthdays. But then I'm a grown man, older than most who watch this. But a kid, especially one who has gone through the traumatic loss of a parent, needs something like this. A birthday celebration is a validation of how people value you as a human being, as their friend as a beloved member of the family. It isn't just a celebration of a milestone in your life. They are celebrating your existence. This is incredibly important for children especially when they see other children being celebrated. I am so glad this situation got fixed for this child.

Will never forget in 6th grade our lit teacher had us “interview” our parents to make a family tree. The next day she gave us red pens and told us to slash everyone’s names out and write about how we would feel if all our family died.
There was at least 3 kids in my class who had lost family. She had 6 classes of different kids a day. My friend had lost his brother to self-harm right before the school year started. He spent the whole class crying. I hadn’t even lost anyone by then and I was panicking. I couldn’t do it.
Went home and told my mom. She is not a dramatic person and never makes problems for teachers or admin. She and a bunch of other parents freaked the f out and ultimately were confused…. Like wtf would motivate a teacher to do such a “project” with 11-12 yr olds? The “project” suddenly disappeared and we got to watch a pg rated fun movie while the principal sat in the back of the class.

Here where we live they shut down the only kid/adult bouncy house place so there is literally nothing her for kids and teens. I made it work every year. I realized that she would say she really didn’t want a party so that I wouldn’t be stressed out. Well come February my baby turns 16. I feel obligated to do something over the top and fun. This is so sweet and tragic at the same time. I'm pregnant with my last at 38 and a huge age gap. I can only hope that my oldest son is just as wise and strong as this young lady is for her little sister.

I'd actually do more than hope for that, I'd raise him with the understanding that family takes care of each other always, and if God forbid you weren't around, you expect him to look after his little sibs. That is what family is for... Maybe you already doing so but if not,, it's a good idea to plant that seed now. The seed of compassion, accountability & responsibility. It's such an important seed to sow.. Seems like so many ppl think only of themselves these days... Best wishes on your pregnancy.

It's so beautiful to see people showing up for each other in their community! And the vulnerability it took Chloe to post that Tiktok and accept help says a lot about her - you can tell she'll do a great job raising Charlotte. Seems like this outpouring of love has been a part of their family's healing journey, and I pray that continues!

I’m brought my heart such joy to see how the community came together and also how dedicated her sister is to raising and going all out for her.

Please stop chopping onions. We need more like those who stepped up to help create an unbelievable experience for this sweet little girl. As a child we did family celebrations for our birthday. I had 3 birthday that were the most memorable with the first one being my 7 th birthday. We had gone down to Florida where my Grandparents lived for Christmas and to visit extended family who lived there. My birthday is Jan 5th and my grandma wanted to make my day special. She asked what I wanted for my cake and what I wanted for dinner that night and she made all my favorite things with the help of my mother and her sisters who were also visiting. It was the first time that I had girlie pink decorations and presents in birthday paper and not Christmas paper which always felt like they just used one of my Christmas gifts as my birthday present. Everyone made it my special day which meant the world to me as a 7 year old. I can’t tell you how many times I had to share my birthday celebration and cake with my brother whose birthday is on Jan 7th. I wasn’t being some spoiled brat upset at having to share her birthday. I am far from it. I happen to be the #6 child of the 8 children my parents had and I love and am very close to most of the even with a 12, 10, 9, 5 year age gap between some of them. After that year Mom made a point to use birthday paper and a separate cake for each of us. I think it had happened that way because 3 of us had birthdays on the 2,5,7 and especially so soon after Christmas. The other 2 times were special because I got to have friends over for a sleepover and we got to make homemade pizza and other fun things.

I long ago accepted that I am probably a terrible person. One of my favorite pastimes is posting snarky comments (I am 46 years old, but never said that I was an adult) and arguing with people. This clip that young woman posted stopped me dead in my tracks, with tears running down my face.
I hope that wonderful things happen for these girls.

This is so wonderful. It's so important for kids to feel supported and loved, especially after a tragedy like that. My daughter's daddy passed away when she was ten and she struggled with being bullied in school. I got very sick starting the year after his passing and was unable to do much for her. I had a 16 year old daughter but she had struggles as well and there was no family around to help. Two years later I was hospitalized with sepsis and almost died as well. it took years to get strength back and my baby girl suffered severely at school by both students and teachers alike - she is on the autism spectrum and has cPTSD. Birthdays were hard. I wish something like this would've been possible for her because she's a tenderhearted and sweet girl. Seeing this sweet girl smile is so nice. Her sister is an amazing person and I hope they continue doing well.

My parents were never in the position to throw us big parties, and that was always okay 💗 But I remember my 12th birthday, my parents saved forever to be able to rent our town pool for a few hours.
