Not trying to age myself here, but I'm having MASSIVE flashbacks. Plus we would also match our clothes to our makeup, or vise versa. It was a fun time to be a teen. Everyweek was a different look, the new romantics, the punks, the rockers, the preps, for us, every week was an homage to our favorite artist that we'd just seen on MTv.
Yes I 100% agree! Although I was really awful at putting eyeshadow on - but I tried my best to immitate the sketch on the back of the 4 colour Cover Girl pallette!! Lol 😆
I think some of it will. The brows of the 80s are sort of coming back, people are no longer deathly afraid of color on their lips, and blush draping even had a moment!
These '80's videos are fun since that's when I was a teen. One thing, though. So much more mascara! I went thru 2 tubes a month. Big hair and lots of mascara! I look back at my own pictures of the cobra bangs and butt bow dresses and roil my eyes, but I was on point! 😁
You should do a prediction makeover for 2020's.... that would be fun, will we be colourful, natural, smokey, wat will be the brow trend in a few years time? Ooooh 😋😋😋
Yes, I am an 80's girl for life, you nailed it, I was heavy on the eyeliner only on the lower water line, and the hair! Sebastian hairspray in the can that was as big as a fire extinguisher lol. Thanks!
Lorie Muhlbauer yea, my hair had "feathers" in the 80's held lovely in place by rave spray lol, and my MAYBELINE eyeliner (the red pencil with red cap" had to be heated up with a lighter first LMBO. Anyone else do remember that trick? I still have a lighter in my makeup kit lol.
Yep, rockin the Whitesnake Tawny Kitaen vibe! You've definitely got that gorgeous hair going on. I'm a HUGE fan of the 80's Glam Rock era so I really enjoyed this one.
Do Restoration England when females were allowed to be actresses! The 1660s in London were so crazy and the court life under Charles II was pretty much "anything goes" haha. I bet it'd be a fun makeup challenge! :D
This link below is a great breakdown of how makeup was used during the 17th century and how the first actress's stage makeup helped inspire makeup trends in every day life :) sites.google.com/site/italiancommedia/costumes-masks-and-makeup/makeup/17th-and-18th-century-stage-makeup
I was a teenager and young adult in the '80's! I loved the 80's! Pat Benatar and Joan Jett were THE women rock stars of the 80's. Their makeup styles are the best examples. The girl in the band Journey's "Separate Ways" video is the perfect example of 80's blush and short, but big hair. Everything in fashion was big... earrings, belts, hair, etc. Tfs😊
shadowsinmymind9 Im talking stevie nicks or cher, and I do my hair and makeup very hippie everyday its more or less Glam but in the 70s flower child Glam was a thing like twiggy
The Divine Gypsy Witch Stevie Nicks said in Rolling Stone magazine that she's done her makeup the same since the 70's. She goes for the Marlene Dietrich eye look. I think there's a video of her doing her makeup before a concert.
C Kendall yes I've seen it I also have a RUclips vodep on my every day makeup which is inspired by Stevie, but Id love to see someone else take on it because I have not seen one that Kshatriya exact
Yes you do look 100% glam! We wore those colors in our every day, but application was a bit different. As for the rest of the look: earrings, bracelets & necklaces all huge & heavy; everything was about colors, bold, glittery, neon, happy & bright! Everything was big...big hair (Aquanet), big accessories, including belts & bags; jeans that HAD to be tight-rolled & usually worn with heels, one shoulder slouchy shirts- belted, big hot rolled hair with a ribbon. A cross between 80's Madonna, Flashdance, & maybe a little Cindy Lauper! Best times in my life! Highschool was amazing! Music was fun, the world was just trying to figure out AIDS (which they didn't name it that then & we didn't know a whole lot about how it was transferred), the entertainment industry was always wonderful & joining together...liveaid, farmaid, hands across America! All working together.
Can i just say how much i appreciate you? I love that you branch out of the safe zone eyeshadows. I remember watching a gurus video review thw sephora pro palettes and claimed that the cool toned palette was the most out there palette 3 despite the one with bright colors .. and did the same boring look. Dont get me wrong, i dont mind neutral eye looks but i know for a fact theyd never do something like this. So i love that, you and vintageortacky are the og youtubers im subscribed to since i discovered you guys years ago.
I wrote that on my phone but you get the gist, you branch out and do different and interesting eyeshadows, like this! I love it. I would love to see a flapper inspired look.
Since it will be 20 years since Princess Diana has passed, I think it would be neat for you to do some of her makeup. She was such a fashion icon among many other things but her makeup fascinates me too!!!
Ah yes the 80's ..... BIG hair and bright makeup. Off the shoulder shirts, tight skirts and punk rock The good ole days. I remember my sister and her friends wearing purple blush 🙈 Living in New Jersey in the 80's was a sight. I blame the hole in the ozone layer on all the Aquanet hairspray used to keep our hair as big as possible. "The higher the hair, the closer to God" Oh let's not forget the glitter! We had glitter everything/everywhere
The look is reminding me of Joan Cusack in Working Girl. My love of pink and purple was born in the.80s. I wanted to rock a total Madonna look but my mom wouldn't let me wear all the black so I always wore pink and purple.
Love all the comments! Brings back so many memories... dippity do, rave hairspray or aqua net for sure! Crazy blue eyes..winged out hair... you make it all look beautiful, though 😊
Great recreation of 1980's glam rock makeup! I was actually a back up singer in a band in the 80's and except for the contour on the nose with the pink and yellow, my make up was almost exactly the same as yours. Only I am not as good at make up as you are and instead of a bright yellow I used a gold shimmer that had a very yellow tone to the shadow!
This is when I grew up!!! I love it!! You should have asked me lol yes!! We contoured with color!! Both the eyes and the cheeks!!! And... A white / light brow bone, fluffy eyebrows, and prominent blush , Lips, and eyes!! I totally miss contouring with three blush colors vs Bronzer . It looked better on my pale/ cool skin tone. We winged our eyeshadow vs our liner... We lined top and bottom heavily too!! Yes.. We washed hair every am!! Lots of curly perms. And hairspray!! Thank you sooo much for so many memories that are flooding me right now!! I'll find some pics of me then... And send them to you on snapchat soon
The "pop-up video" style facts were fun! And yes, a lot of 80s makeup was just piling on bright color all over the face. No idea of balancing a bold feature with a soft one! :D I had SO MANY purple eyeshadows then.
I loved the 80's. the music, the bright makeup, big hair, the movies, etc. I have a palette from Urban Decay that has a some 80's eyeshadows in a cassette box that I bought at Ulta about 3 months ago. I work at an elementary school and the kids love it. The bright neon plaid color shirts, pants skirts were so much fun. LOL I I am 52 years young. Don't forget about the high top white Reebocks.
Such a fun look! Very New Wave/New Romantic as well. It'd be cool since you've done 2 bold 80s looks if you could do a natural, more conservative look of the 80s ala Remington Steele, Dynasty, and any other day-to-day type shows! I look forward to seeing what you'll do next!
As a teen and young adult in the 80s - makeup sucked. I had oil skin and there were no formulas for oily skin. There are so many formulas and finishes for foundations now :-)
I used a Max Factor foundation made for over~active oily skin that actually had a nice pale shade that worked for my gothy self. It was crushing when I could not find it any longer. And, yes, most foundations back then went weirdly orange on oily skin.
Monica P- I was in my 20's in the 80's and there were formula for oily skin but the best ones were from the department store rather than drug store. I used to love Estee.Lauder's formulas. For drugstore the teen lines like Bonne Bell made oily formulas but they were really drying.
I hope the 1% that see this remember to always keep following their dreams. Never give up, and trust your hustle, anything is possible!!! Mine is to make it big some day on RUclips!! ❤️❤️
I would be really interested in more tutorials from the 20s-50s, maybe ones that highlight different colors or trends from those eras (so it's not a repeat of your previous videos). Maybe vaudeville makeup!!
I was a teenager in the 80s, and I remember the black khol pencil all over the eye's, as eyeliner and waterline too, a lot of black. The blush was used as we use the contour now, and we work with our fingers, a lot! lol . But I used already some brushes. Great video. Thanks x
I LOVE THIS LOOK! Would you consider doing a 1990s soap opera star look, maybe something from The Bold and the Beautiful or All My Children? As a girl I idolized their glam looks!
I would really love to see culturally different make-up looks, for instance, indian, arabic etc. as I really believe that beauty standards are different in various countries and continents. Happy to see this kind of videos. I was missing them a lot!
Just discovered your channel. Love these!! Please do more!!! Would love to see: Grace Kelley, Elizabeth Taylor, gone with the wind Vivian Leigh, Selena, etc... Just love these!!!
You are perrty close on the 80s makeup!! But blue eye liner was big!! Blue mascara!! Blur eye shadow!! And frosty pink lips!! Here in Canada it was!! Not sure about the USA!! CHEERS
I totally knew the first video on MTV😊👍🏻but I'm kind of an 80's music buff😜and this toot is fabulous!!!! I was totally thinking to my self " how can I make this work for me right now?"😂loved it!
Thanks for the flashback to my high school years ('83-'87). My best friend and I bonded over Star Hits and Smash Hits magazines and Maybelline eye shadow sticks with bonne bell lip gloss. You look like you could have been in my group of friends in high school! 💕❤️💕
Oh my goodness , zabrena . This was incredible. Glam rock is so classically 80s to me. It's so garish and hideous, but so beautiful and artistic as you showed us !!!! Every makeup rule , every fashion rule was broken in the 80s. What a great video and look!!! The touch of yellow really added so much.
this was so great! I was a teenager in the 80s and I remember when mtg first started and we would stay up all night watching music videos! I remember when tv went off the air at midnight and didn't come back on until 5am so we loved it when it started staying on all night!
Love! I miss my big hair :). How about doing historically accurate makeup from film? Mary Poppins, Gone with the Wind and other famous beautiful women in movies?
Girl, You are killing this '80's child. I graduated high school in '84 so I think I know a thing or two about this face! Blush, perfect. Lips, pretty close to perfect. Fire and Ice by Revlon was the IT shade. Those eyes!!! You had to have looked at definitely rock star for that look. We did wear tons of purple, I'll give you that. You missed the mark on mascara - you should have loaded it on - Maybelline Great Lash by the gallon. The more the better. AND, the powder of choice, believe it or not, was Coty Airspun!! Thanks for the fun video!!!
This is such a fun look because this is the total look that I remember wearing in the 80s and my mom would wear as well. I still do that with my blush occasionally. I remember my mother never blending anything and everything was so harsh on the face. There really weren't any brushes that you could blend stuff with there was just the little sponges that came with the makeup. That was the 80s for you.
Love love love! this video. I was a college student in the 80s and remember doing this type of make up. I called applying eyeshadow "decorating my eyes". My mom worked at a high end department store make up counter in the early 80s and brought home demo palettes which were such a thrill to work with. This video was a great trip down memory lane for those of use who really did this look. BTW, "Video Killed the Radio Star" rocked.
So glad that Historically Accurate videos are back even though this is not 'labelled' as historically accurate. Those are my favourite binge watch material!
Sandra Plumley you could try the NYX liner in peekaboo and the maybelline lipstick in honey pink from that matte nude line they came out with this year. Those are the closest I have from the drugstore. The liner is a better match than the lipstick but I wasn't sure which you were looking for. Hope that helps.
Very fun and brought back a lot of fond memories of my 80's clubbing days! We didn't have all the nice makeup brushes though, we used those awful sponge applicators. I must say you look more beautiful than I ever did!! Rock on!!!
In the late 80's, I was wearing A LOT of frosts, primarily frosted white lipstick and frosted blue nails with jelly shoes and my hair crimped out with tons of Aquanet!
I also remember going through a few aqua/turquoise eyeliners as well... wasn't until late highschool that I started going warmer nuetral. I love growing up in the 80's - still rocking the power ballads!
So my era of high school, graduating HS, getting married even had my oldest. Now I know why makeup rules confuses me so much. Because we didn't have rules! Alway Blue color eye shadow and lots of Blush. Probably why I'm a Blush LOVER still. Lol. So many memories and so much changed after that as u showed in ur clips. When MTV was Music Videos and VH1 was a little softer than MTV rock videos. Such Great yrs to grow up in. So Thankful I did. Thanks so much for all the Fun memories. 💙💙💙
U even got the Big hair. Lol. My boys saw a pic and sai wow mom ur hair is Big. Lol. Not as Big as I wanted it. Lots of hair spray and gels and curling irons and hair dryers every morning before school or even opened the front door or ur house. Never ever left without shower, makeup, hair done and clothes of course. Lol. Shoulder pads. I even had Bon Jovi white fringe boots. Lol. Thank God I didn't pay for my raising also. Of course we have cell phones. I lived in a tiny town and ur pageant could eventually find out when they owned the local newspaper. Ouch. But I still ran hard and partied. Very sneakily lol. Had they only known the half of it. Lol. Omg it was a Good time though.
Zabrena, you took me down memory lane! I remember all the cool different looks. There were plenty who looked like you at a Thompson Twins concert I went to in 83 or 84!
I love doing decade related makeup tutorials. I actually did a 70s look on my channel and I had soooo much fun doing it. The look came out great. I love your version on Rock 80s😘😘😘
You truly are an artist!!! I love these time period tutorials!!! I've watched everyone!!! These are how I discovered you!! So glad to see you keeping them up!!!
I am so happy I stumbled upon your videos today. I could listen to you talk all day long! You are so lovely so warm and it is just a joy to watch you shine as you do what you love ❤️ as an 80s girl I can tell you you nailed the look! I remember having an eyeshadow palette with shimmery aqua green and lovely yellow and a bright pink. The colors you used are much more vibrant and fun.Thank you so much 🌞
Love this. I was born in the 80s and though I don't remember any of it because I only spent 4-5 years in the 80s I remember seeing pictures of my oldest sister with 80s makeup and the perm styled hair. It was like glamor shots. lol.
Hey wait a minute..The 80's were my time & boy did we have some fun! I must have been going to the wrong clubs cause I don't remember anyone having that look! Then again.. I don't remember ALOT of things from that time!!! Hahaha!!! 😂😂😂
You ROCK this look! That yellow contrast of that eyeshadow looks AMAZING with your hair color! I'm getting ready for my birthday dinner at a restaurant where we decided to dress up from the 80's and needed to remind myself how I used to do my makeup. Thank you!
Love this comment. It is SO true. One week I was Madonna and the next week I was Molly Ringwald
@@DarkFire1536 yes me too!!! Loved those years of my life.
Yes I 100% agree! Although I was really awful at putting eyeshadow on - but I tried my best to immitate the sketch on the back of the 4 colour Cover Girl pallette!! Lol 😆
Kind of want to see this make a comeback. It's so wild and so so pretty, especially that yellow and purple mix.
I think some of it will. The brows of the 80s are sort of coming back, people are no longer deathly afraid of color on their lips, and blush draping even had a moment!
Yes
No matter what historical period you show us, you cannot hide your beauty. Thanks for sharing!
Ooooh 😋😋😋
Alicia ONeill really like this idea
Alicia ONeill omg yes I want this video to happen!
Very clever idea, Alicia
Such a GREAT idea!
Alicia ONeill oooh I love
Yes, I am an 80's girl for life, you nailed it, I was heavy on the eyeliner only on the lower water line, and the hair! Sebastian hairspray in the can that was as big as a fire extinguisher lol. Thanks!
Mariah Riner Do you remember dippity do? You hair would NOT move!
Mariah Riner nope gotta use Rave hairspray lol or aqua net
+Renee Werner Yes I remember says net hair spray your hair wouldn't move or the whole side would move together! lol
Wow looking at everyone's comments bring back memories. I forgot about the lighter and eyeliner and yes I only worse eyeliner on the lower waterline.
Lord that makeup look speaks to my soul. I was born in the 80s (86) and that's totally my decade. I love everything about it!
You look like you walked out of a Whitesnake video! Love it!
OMG, Tawny Kitaen!
I used to rock the red lipstick and black smoked eyeliner and I saw whitesnake in the 80's!
Jess love that idea!!!

can you do a real classic 70s hippie chick or even just a flower child hippie girl im really into 70s rock and roll
they didnt wear makeup . they believed in keeping their face natural

You should do the makeup for the gals in Robert Palmer's Addicted to Love. Talk about iconic.

seaberrythistle Check out her past videos, I think she has a 1920s flapper look. She's done some amazing looks of the times!
Tammy Warren ive seen it! But i think that was historically accurate and i would love to see an inspired look. 😻

Late 80's, early 90's that really matte sin, thick brows and strong lip colours. Love this series !!!!
Lived the it's make up... Cindie Lauper comes to mind.." Girls wanna have Fun "

Aw thanks
Anastasia Fine You will sweetie! In fact, I just subscribed. Wishing you all the best hun!
Mary Ann Marino that's sooo nice!!
Anastasia Fine you're so sweet
I personally would love to see 50s or 60s I love Lucy days, their makeup and skin always looked flawless 💕

Happy to see this kind of videos. I was missing them a lot!
I really liked the little clouds of info of the 80s, were so educational, and I really loved the look😍😍
Great job! That's exactly what we did in the 80's - anything we wanted! :)
Just discovered your channel. Love these!! Please do more!!! Would love to see: Grace Kelley, Elizabeth Taylor, gone with the wind Vivian Leigh, Selena, etc... Just love these!!!
Deenie S I'd love to see her do a Selena make up video 😍😍😍😍
I think this is my favorite look you've done this year! 👍👍👍
I'd love to see some type of geisha makeup. I feel like you'd do a wonderful job on something like that
That’d definitely get reported and banned.
Loved my pink/purple eyeshadow combo in the 80s! The only thing missing from your awesome 80s fact bubbles is the fact that MTV used to be cool 😎😉😎
4:55 With that yellow, you've created the perfect sunrise or sunset look. Love it.
You are perrty close on the 80s makeup!! But blue eye liner was big!! Blue mascara!! Blur eye shadow!! And frosty pink lips!! Here in Canada it was!! Not sure about the USA!! CHEERS
I think 80 make up makes everyone beautiful or brings it out of them better than anything else!❤
I totally knew the first video on MTV😊👍🏻but I'm kind of an 80's music buff😜and this toot is fabulous!!!! I was totally thinking to my self " how can I make this work for me right now?"😂loved it!
Shaunell MacGloan Video Killed the Radio Star by The Buggies! Good lord! That was 36 years ago!
Thanks for the flashback to my high school years ('83-'87). My best friend and I bonded over Star Hits and Smash Hits magazines and Maybelline eye shadow sticks with bonne bell lip gloss. You look like you could have been in my group of friends in high school! 💕❤️💕
Hurrah for 80's make up! I love it Zabrena. 💋
Oh my, how accurate this is, it sure did bring back memories!
Oh my goodness , zabrena . This was incredible. Glam rock is so classically 80s to me. It's so garish and hideous, but so beautiful and artistic as you showed us !!!! Ah, the 80's! When Adam Ant and MTV were revolutionary! Thank you Zabrena, for this blast from the past!
Zabrena can you do the 20's. I adore that decade. Everything was so elegance, the clothing, the makeup, just perfect !!! LOVE FROM GREECE 🇬🇷 🏛 🌞
this was so great!
Beautiful job! Easily the best 80's make up tutorial I have ever seen. Please do more of these! 😍
I would like to see another 90's look. You did grunge and Rachel. I would like too see the something Spice Girls inspired, or late 90s.
I am living for this look! The 80's will always be my favorite!
As someone from the HS class of 1984, you NAILED it!
Could you please find a dupe for Charlotte Tillberrys pillow talk?
Sandra Plumley you could try the NYX liner in peekaboo and the maybelline lipstick in honey pink from that matte nude line they came out with this year. Those are the closest I have from the drugstore. The liner is a better match than the lipstick but I wasn't sure which you were looking for. Hope that helps.
Jen W Thank you
Very fun and brought back a lot of fond memories of my 80's clubbing days! We didn't have all the nice makeup brushes though, we used those awful sponge applicators. I must say you look more beautiful than I ever did!! Rock on!!!
I'm so glad the historically accurate series is back!
Beautiful makeup. I love colorful makeup
Woohoo...this brings back memories!
Yay!! Love love love love this series!!!
Very pretty. I loved the 80's music, make up and fashion. Big hair wasn't my thing but I still use the same makeup principles on my eyes today.
I think the 80s is when I started loving purple. You did pretty good with the eyes. I do recall that is when I first experienced doing palettes.
80's baby right here!!
Victorian/Edwardian theater actress makeup!
The Jane Austen era please and I love this look I might wear it when I go food shopping !!!
Zabrena, you took me down memory lane! I remember all the cool different looks. There were plenty who looked like you at a Thompson Twins concert I went to in 83 or 84!
Love it! Wish I could pull off these colors everyday, lol.
Looks great. Bring back the 80s makeup!
You definitely Rocked this 80's Look! 😊😊
Gorgeous! I actually love the "contouring with color" makeup look.
I love doing decade related makeup tutorials. I actually did a 70s look on my channel and I had soooo much fun doing it. The look came out great. I love your version on Rock 80s😘😘😘

The colors you used are much more vibrant and fun.Thank you so much 🌞
Thank you, Zabrena! Going to an 80s themed gathering this Saturday. I am doing this eye look and look. Just practiced. Looks amazing. 😎👍
Love this. I was born in the 80s and though I don't remember any of it because I only spent 4-5 years in the 80s I remember seeing pictures of my oldest sister with 80s makeup and the perm styled hair. It was like glamor shots. lol.
Considering I'm an 80's baby, I'd say it's pretty spot on! You're very talented!! 😀
Looks beautiful love it. The 80's were my best years!!
Thank you!
