Gag me with a spoon! I can't even tell you like how totally psyched I am to be doing this collab today! -how's that for some 80s slang, huh?- The lovely Sharon Farrell invited me and 6 other gurus to participate in her Makeup Through the Ages collab. Each guru got an era to do an inspired tutorial by, and you guessed it, I got the 80s! Without any further ado, bust out those bright colors and hairspray, and get ready for some color-crazy makeup!

OH NO! You left out one very important thing. Please don't be offended by my comment. You did a great job. But, as a child of the 80's I used to use a black eyeliner on the waterline. My friends and I NEVER used white or neutral, and we took it to the next level by heating up the eyeliner with a cigarette lighter to soften it and get a super black application. Other than that you did a great job.

I wasn't sure where you were going with this look but I get it. I love the whole Bowie/Boy George/Siouxee Sioux color look! It's incredibly extreme and fun. It reminds me of what they would have probably worn to a club, or in a rock band, or maybe even in high fashion. I was born in the early 80s and I watch a lot of 80s movies and so I have a few memories of what they would have done back then. One thing I will agree on is the cheeks! I noticed even when they did more toned-down everyday makeup looks (such as business women), their cheeks were really really strong with the blush and contouring. Great job!
We didn't highlight our faces like we do now, but we DID use very shiny makeup/foundation. The L'Oreal foundation I used actually had shimmer in it...kind of like many liquid illuminators today. The shinier the better...and bronzy. Good job! (but you left out the colored mascara....LOL)

Also eyebrows were left pretty much non plucked, the thicker the better (Brooke Shields type) and pale foundations were not drugstore available. Hair had to be layered and permed, and sometimes lightened with "sun in"
Yay, so much fun colour! I love how the makeup looks all purple and then when you blink the blue pops out. The yellow and purple nose contour bit looks cool too, definitely a good touch for a dramatic costume makeup or just if I wanna look crazy as I like to do.

I love how the shape around the nose brought in some 80s goth inspiration but with the typical pop colors! Yay for loving the 80s when you weren't even alive yet!

Love this 80s inspired look!!! 80s was my second favorite to play with when I was in makeup school, 1920s was the first (suits my style dark and vampy).

OMG! The eye look was on point! I remember my makeup teacher teaching how to take the color to the bridge of the nose something I did religiously. And the yellow eyeshadow, could not be without, I like gold so never started an eye look without it! This was lots of fun 👌

Great collab! What memories! Mid to late 80's was when I began to wear makeup...definitely remember all the color! Never really sported this look, but definitely wasn't afraid of color. Really enjoyed watching!!!😉

Great job with the whole look! Blush was my favorite part. We used to get the 3 color blush contour palettes. They were big back then.

Love love love this look, it takes me way wayyyyy back, thank you for recreating it! I hung out a group of "Souxsie and the Banshees" crowd of folks, and very dramatic geometrically shaped dramatic eyes, almost like Arabic-inspired makeup looks like today, tons of black eyeliner and the reddest of red lips..if mat, then.the more mat the better, and if glossy, then glossiest of gloss of course, it was like a post-apocalyptic 1920's look! I actually have an old pic of myself taken at a gay bar by friends from around 1985, and it's so funny to look back on it now! Thanks for making me feel happy and really enjoying this video! :D
