It's not that bad. Asics got wider during last couple of years. When comparing this new model with a 5-7 years old version, this one is definitely wider.
how are they compared to the speeds FF2? I read that they decreased quite a lot the midsole thickness, so I'm not sure it'll be great for cushioning. I use to have a lot of pain under the heel stack because of hard landings, I solved it by buying the Gel Res9, but they are too slow and big. Thanks!!
I don't think they have decreased the cushioning at all. It's actually quite thick if you look at the shoe from the side. It looks more robust compared to the FF2 in my opinion.

These are quite meshy in the forefoot so they should breath well.
