Microsoft has acquired a bunch of software companies. Even if they don’t make a next console (which already been announced they are), they still will be a competitor to Sony. Hardware doesn’t really matter much like it used too.

    • @ShurikanBlade
      @ShurikanBlade  5 месяцев назад

while true hardware doesnt matter the problem is that Sony realistically being the only one in the high end console market is bad because Sony has shown to be very predatory at times. If theyre the only ones you can go to for that modern experience itll be bad. Itll be near similar to apple and googles monopoly on mobile games or steams monopoly on PC games but i doubt Sony would be as lenient as steam.

@@ShurikanBlade Sony would love to charge more and only make live service games with microtransactions. They previously shared they had 12 live service games in development. But feedback since has indicated some have been cancelled, and others delayed. So with no 1st party titles due until at least March 2025 (excl. the excellent Helldivers 2), Sony is in a bit of a crisis at the moment and really need to reevaluate their strategy. They can charge more all they want, but they don’t have anything to offer for over a year now and the market is changing rapidly. I think by March next year when we “might” see the next 1st party Sony title, they may be forced to place their games day 1 on PC just like they did with Helldivers 2. This comments is guided mostly by misinformation.
It has been confirmed for a long time that Online games will have a PC day 1 release.
Helldivers 2 is one of them and it will continue to be so. It isn’t a change in strategy, it’s the already stablished one.
And the singleplayer ones are coming to PC, just a year -/+ later. And what the CEO of Sony said the other day is that he wants that window to be shorter… but that was a bit dumb of him to say because the PS 1st party studios have to prove themselves able after the THE LAST OF US 1 Disaster and proving that porting games isn’t simple.
And on the Xbox side. Game Pass is obviously not going away. Yet there is a change happening and it’s that slowly they are trying to get rid of the “Xbox” branding on the Game Pass service.
Yes Microsoft Pr takes advantage of the Fanboys they support (they are responding directly to their fan base unlike the other 2 big ones) and are trying to say that Game Pass not being on Nintendo and PlayStation is a win… when the model of having Game Pass in “every screen” would 1000% benefit by having the subscription in other devices.
They have to be working on a project to expand game pass with their cloud technology. Something like “Game Pass Mobile” if they are smart or “Game Pass TV box” if they are dumb.

Yet Sony is reporting a 10 billion loss, and Xbox is at an all time high. The truth is the console market has reached its peak, it’s not Microsoft or Sony doing this, this is because the market is evolving to move towards a world where the consumer wants to play their games everywhere, we live in a world of cloud gaming, play on any device and ever increasing mobile gaming landscape. Truth is if you grew up on PS1, Xbox and stuck it all the way out. Our time is coming to an end, exclusives hold no value anymore and playing on one machine is ending.
These companies will still produce consoles, but they just don’t hold the relevance they once did. They’ll evolve to be everywhere and offer unique gamification services whilst they’re games will be everywhere the best place to play them with the most perks will be their consoles, but games just won’t be exclusive.
This should already be obvious, it’s already happened it’s just in the transitioning phase, but mark my words in 5 years time games won’t be exclusive, the gamification of the consoles will be.

@@codearchive3218 crazy how Papa Phil says something and his children consider it an absolute fact.
This all comes down to the greed of people.
The gaming market is so much more massive today than it was during the PS2 some 20 -/+ years back. If they want to replicate that growth, then they need to somehow beat the odds and create a big gaming community out of the other continents of the world. SA and Africa being the targets and doing changes in strategy to make ensure availability and affordability.
The reason PlayStation won the console war was because they outsold the direct competition 2:1. This data alone doesn’t tell the full story. The extra data is that ex PlayStation leader Jim Ryan put a focus on dominating the European Market. Defeating Xbox who relies on Europe and NA, because they already didn’t have a presence in Asia.
And since now we can see Sony securing 3rd party exclusivity, it’s clear PS has a dominion on this high end home console market and Xbox is now DESPERATELY trying to create a Blue Ocean to leave its closest competitor out of their worries.
To add one last bit of data. PS strategy isn’t completely open and as a consumer we can see an evolution.
Why was GOWR dlc Free? And why does the Insomniac leave say that Spider 2 will have 3 free DLC packs?
If this is true, then it’s clear to say that Sony doesn’t look at 1st party as a money maker. But rather a good game offer to sell to the public to get them addicted to buy other games. Because if those games are accesible and rich in content, surely the rest of gaming has to be similar.

They put too much stock into the console and single player games and it isn’t working out. For god sake Helldivers 2 is way way more popular on PC than it is on PS5, and that released day and date on PC. They’re restructuring and reevaluating their strategy, don’t act like they’re winning against the worlds biggest company game pass core has 60,000,000 users (including discount codes, coupons and deals) with game pass being 34,000,000 as in people who pay and sub.
PS+ has 47,000,000 and they don’t split the numbers (this includes discount codes, coupons and deals). Xbox is winning on the new front.
Sonys fighting an uphill battle. They’re restructuring to make multiplayer live service games. Foam stars flopped, Helldivers 2 didn’t because it was released on PC also, exclusives will be timed in the near future not just on one machine forever.

What a weird take. Microsoft has been diversifying long before Sony, and it's a huge benefit to them. We'll think back on the razor and blades model of exclusive videogames on subsidized consoles the same way we'll think about Blockbuster. A business model fallen out of time, especially when you can now buy and play games without a Console or PC with streaming. The Console isn't a moneymaker anymore, it's a bridge technology for anyone who wants or needs a local experience and doesn't already have a PC, but the money will be in recurring revenue / subscriptions and game sales.
What's going to happen to someone who buys a few Xbox published games on PS5? Maybe... they'll consider that they can just stream GamePass to xCloud via their TV? Or that a Series S is sold at cost and provides a huge catalog of games for $15 a month? Xbox wins there with sheer volume of games, and even Sony customers aren't going to be only Sony customers. They'll also be Microsoft customers.

1:18 Boy thinks steam fills a niche and "doesn't have much insentive to branch out because it is perfectly satisfied being in its own bubble". Boy, you think steam could branch out on what? It's literally PC gaming. It's not a niche and there's nothing to branch out to. Do you even know how the app works and what it is for gaming? Niche is not a word for steam. I can understand you never played a game on PC, but I cannot understand not knowing ANYTHING about it when wanting to publish a video on youtube on gaming.
You even mention that steam is harder to use and that you actually need experience in order to set it up and use it. You don't need to build your own PC to play PC games, buy a prebuilt. There, problem solved. I refuse to believe that someone needs special experience to download steam, come on, this is ridiculous!
Sometimes I think people don't understand all gaming is basically PC gaming. Consolles are not some magic hardware that nobody knows how they're made. They're literally PCs running different OS.

PC is harder to use because even if you buy prebuilt it is most like more expensive and you actively have to worry about things like having the right specs for a game, overheating, maintenance and more. While with a console, its a spceialized PC made purely for gaming. Its designed to play the games made for it and not much else. All those miscellaneous worries are non existent on console. So yes, it is harder to use on a "relative" level.

@@ShurikanBlade i guess it depends on what u mean by at the same level, if you look at games like enshrouded, valheim, 7 days to die or project zomboid, these are indie games that bring a lot more than many AAA games in terms of content. of course not all have the same graphical polish, but gameplay wise they are a lot better.

@@kalfaxplays7899 by same level i mean that indies will never be hardware owners and will always have to be put on a platform. You can make high quality games at or even better quality than AAA games but if lets say the revenue split isnt worth it for the indies then less games will be made by them

@@ShurikanBlade there are plenty of games that have their own websites, a game like salem the crafting mmo comes to mind, but usually they make a bigger profit on steam due to the amount of players there.
right now the revenue split on steam is 70%, where steam gets 30% which is fairly good considering the large market you get access to. pretty good for indie's i'd say.

We need SEGA to come back to making consoles this is the only way, SEGA hold so many titles with a lot of potentiel that can be match for Sony

I really believe that Sega going multiplat hurt the industry more than people think. Not only are they one of the biggest ip holders in the industry but they also have diverse IPs that rival both Sony and Nintendo

Yeah they should never have quit from the indusrty , I think if they will do a new console it will be a banger and sell a lot with title like Golden Axe, Streets Of Rage ,Nights into Dreams, Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, A new Sonic game and much more, and they also the Persona and Yakuza Series that will sell the consoles like candys.@@ShurikanBlade
