I think @everyone knows the theme for 2023 in STFC was quantity which led to players seeing FIVE new specialty ships being added into the game. During a talk with Scopely's game design team the comment was made how seeing what player sentiment on these ships now could be beneficial to compare to what it was the month they came out. So, let's discuss and give STFC so much needed feedback. Maybe the next specialty ships will be quality?!

The Survey should have a do not own option, to keep the ratings pure
Monaveen is amazing for the 40s. It barely costs anything to upgrade and easily gets to 15m+ making a 42 ship obsolete to get as well as probably even pays out more and also more valuable 4* materials you direly need to get to 46.
Guess its because levels 29 and under can't access these. My feedback would be... would love to access these at a lower level :D
It doesn't matter how good any of the special ships may or may not now be. The simple fact is there is too much specialty ships with too many loops. There cannot be another for at least 6 months at this point. Players are reaching breaking point with the number of loops
id say the problem is you cant focus on one specialty ship that is useful as a faction ship, at least they kind of figured that out with the borg cube
Prioritize certain things, I don't see how anyone can do every loop as it is unless your playing 5 hours per day
@@fkscopes this is the issue for long-time players. There was a time when you could do everything available every day without an insane time commitment. Giving that up to pick and choose which things to do daily and which to leave by the wayside is especially challenging since everyone continues to call the things "dailies." No, they're not daily. Not anymore. Many are weekly at best now.
The game is stagnating. All they can do is add more currencies and lame ships/loops. They need some new ideas to keep players.

Talios and Voyager are must haves IMO
Talios is awesome. As an Ops 54, I use it for cheap daily hostile grinding, far cheaper to repair than a G5 UC. Not only great for that, but OPC hunting, borg probes and armadas, I was even using it for Dominion hostile today. It's a must have ship and can carry you in the early 50s before you can get a G5 UC and beyond.
Hard to believe Talios was a 2023 ship. I feel like I've had it for years. Great ship (though I hate the level locking).
Voyager, Talios Monaveen Titan and then stick the cube in a trash compactor only time cube leaves my station is when we are forced to use it to complete events
I do see high level players (Level 49+) use it for Wave Defense, but besides that I don't see it often.
I’m still having trouble with the Voyager. The issue is time.
Cube was a complete failure on their part. Could have been great.
Voyager: biggest QOL change they could make is increase the size of the common mining nodes (and fix the fact they have trouble respawning).
Titan A is an under rated ship, get its research done, get the Section 31 armada quick start favor and go have fun with your solo armadas. It is a game changer for stocking up your loot so you do not have to run them so much. Wave Def, Q's Trials and TC work.
The poll really should have had a “n/a - haven’t been able to or cared to source it” option. How do I grade the Monaveen at ops 49 not having it? 🤷♂️ sounds like a B or A when I’m ops 50+, but sourcing sucked for so long that I wouldn’t know how it is at 49.
I would love if they buffed up the Franklin-A to a level that it's not a waste of space after Freebooters.
Survey should include a n/a since depending on your level, you might not have gotten the ship to be able to adequately score (like the Monoveen and Titan A)
Should have another option for
"Have not unlocked yet". As I would bet there are quite a few people like myself, that haven't unlocked the Monaveen.
At very high tiers the Cube is very useful for Wave Defense. You can hit the Actian hostiles to charge the beam and then use the beam to hit another hostile. But that is a very niche use.
As a ops 44 I find the Mona funds my day to day and makes raiding not needed as much. It prints RSS. The day I got it, it helped in jem solos
Rev you overlook the Monaveen for being an iso boat that you can run ops locked in waves or as a general grinder while you are working on your second rep lock. It's highly capable for people in the mid 40s. The cube should have been comparable to the ship needed to unlock it's tier but is always trapped behind the curve.
You need an "I don't have" option in the survey. I'm ops 56 and still haven't unlocked the Monaveen. I can't give it a fair grade if I haven't used it.
I would encourage isntead of ranges, have specific ops level and then how long have you been this ops level as an additional ... will give you much better insights.
I actually like the Monaveen as well. The resources are great.
Defiant is still the must have specialty ship; tough, relevant through many levels, decent warp range, fair upgrade and repair costs, best faction store rewards. They nailed it on the defiant. Have used this ship to get me through the 40s
Greets Rev. I use my Titan's fortification for every Dominion and Borg Solo armada. Voyager is tedious to upgrade and yes, it is too much work. At level 45, I am glad I haven't got Monaveen yet. Like others, Borg Cubes stays in the hanger until there is an event. Lastly, Talios. It was great for Borg probes, but with the Ex-Borg, doing their dailies I can get inert nanoprobes. Talios also comes out only for events.
As a player that doesnt have a strong battleship the Gilded Pickle fits that great for when $copley throws the Kill with X type of ship events
Rev, I use the borg cube for grinding eclipse hostiles lvl 40 (crawford), once at 100% for the beam I head over to a lvl 30 system and destroy a 31 target. Then rinse and repeat to open 2-3 chest per day. This also saves time to get required eclipse goals for the faction.
If yer at t5. Go to the Rom systems that don't affect Rep. Hop into the 40
Pop a 40,then zap a 38.
One system,no hopping around. And can grind out til yer cargo is full.
T6 to t9 ish ,just go up a system
Talios is awesome, and it IS the best ship you have sometimes. In the low 40s before you get a 46 (since you should skip 42s). Then again in the low 50s before you get a 53, depending on how high you pushed your 46s (which don't need to get super big).

The Talios was the only one I cared about. The Titan is forgettable. The Voyager was needlessly complicated. The Monaveen maybe good, but I have no desire to get it. The Borg Cube was only good for nostalgia, otherwise it is also forgettable.
HI Rev, i think you could mine more content here, so much has been added you could revist crewings for various armadas, problematic missions, etc.
Are we grading just off the ship or does the refinery for the ship play a factor?
Voyager is my number one specialty ship, talios is number two. Been hitting DDS for rep and I’m in my early 40s. I hated the Cube at first but honestly at tier 6 cube I’m using for solo madas. Very effective, and base defense. I’ve learned to like it.

The only dolamide drip I know of is in the S31 faction store... but it's not really free. I'd be interested to know if there's another!
yeah, @@davelowry123, there's the 1) S31 faction store 10 daily for credits and 2) 20 for epic borg credit turn in and 3) the field training milestones. nothing involving voyager
Couldn’t agree more about the cube!
If you are in a wave defense with your alliance, bring in the Titan-A and max fortify everyone. Probably best if the host buffs so they don't start the defense while the Titan-A is still there.
I broadly agree with Rev as a fellow ops 49. One thing I would add is I’m not a fan of this level locking of ships if I have the resources I should be able to upgrade a ship not have to wait till I’m ops 51.
As for the Borg cube I don’t get why game design refuse to listen. Get rid of the tax, get rid of the cooldown between attacks and give it a lore friendly kick ass warp drive with both great range and fantastic speed, this would give it a purpose and make the grind so much easier.
In the Borg Cube's defense, the research is very strong at low levels compared to available options. But that is definitely a modest thing for a slumped middle.
I think the not mentioned over monetization of the game is missed in this conversation regarding specialty ships. I don't mind spending a bit to support the game, but I think scopley has taken advantage of the trek community. The solutions around the specialty ships really should have been game upgrades for a game that is on its five year anniversary.

I love my cube. The double cutting beam is great for hitting ships in waves
I was so hopeful the cube would be my best...it's top 5, but so what...at least it was cheap and the extras with it were super helpful.
Titan-A seems to be a glass jawed lightweight, just like the Sarcophagus. Also the Tiran-A requires 5* parts and resources after you get it to tier 9. Kind of hard for someone at ops 46 to source the parts and resources when I can't get to 5* areas.

The cube should be at least as strong as the faction ships at your level
Last incursion, we had a 64 show up with a 6.2B power cube... pretty must did whatever they wanted... it's impressive at those levels, but as you said, kind of a crap before that.
Problem with titan is lack of storage... I can get 2 max supports and then I have to wait 5 days for 2 more. I get it, time. But let me stock up 10 or 20 max supports over time. Takes more than 5 days if I do my daily... Of course, they will solve this with a prime...

Top notch - Talios
Second place for me - Voyager and Monaveen. A kind of surprise with pickle. I still cringe at it's look and lore but it's useful. 0,5 B trit pulled daily enabled me to sustain my Melvin. It just got hampered down by not having initial unlock path other than purchase.
Third low place - Cube. It's weak. I have a t6 Cube and as a ship it's weaker than my t6 Kelvin was. And my Kelvin got stronger while Cube is locked in place until I get a 46 ship. It's disappointing and it has no unlock path other than event store. And the loop... I kinda figured out how to do it effectively but its still one of the worse here.
Honourable last place - Titan. My is still T1 Lvl 1. I just pop up from the station daily. burn the fuel and pull the refinery.
As an admiral and admittedly a mother hen to my players my titan is invaluable to boost my little players and help them x

Cube is something I would have regret getting in 40s…. It really isn’t that good… However, it wasn’t until I got a T7 santus that I realized that the cube was not bad, only because it saved me the faction credit to get another 56 rare.
It is good enough to be my secondary ship. However, it is much weaker than an equivalent faction ship with shorter warp range too.
Its saving grace is merely the saving of faction credit to get another 56 rare. Still not good enough but just enough.
The level locks, the 24 to 6 day timers for turn ins when the mid level and high level rewards aren’t high or turn on, and swarmadas should be monthly lol
I am level 41 and i love my monaveen. Great ship for all sorts of grinding. Perfect addition to every solo armada. And my sh0tgun on wave-defenses. (It even beats actian)
Talios is by far the most useful overall. Borg Cube is excellent, although I wish the cutting beam wasn't tied to ship type (does more damage against an explorer vs the other two warship types). Voyager is good as well, and I have high hopes for NX-01. Titan-A is only good for the buff. I haven't had much use for the pickle.
I don't even use the cube for TD anymore. Just hit the OPC cubes for it. Plus it still counts for the TD SMS/SLBs.
Borg Cube is so much fun just to YEET people at the other side of the map. It's nice that it doesn't have a mandatory loop. My alliance has made a few games out of using the YEET cannon. It definitely changes the killing monotony enough to pull it out and and was glad to spend event tokens on it. Most of the people in my alliance that have it just love the silliness of it.
I used the cube from 28 to 31. For my dailies grabbed my tech destinc everyday. Wasn't so bad. But now I barely take it out.
the ships are good but because they are level locked it lowers there value, once you unlock the ship you should be able to level it up as the player wants to, so it you was able to max a talios as soon as you get it for example, it could become your best ship for a low level player, so you could then punch up on targets which would lower your grind time

For me the Pickle was a great power ship and my strongest and I used it in PVP, base raiding until I got my Kelvin to T6 now it sits in Texas space getting me RSS so I don't have to raid anymore
My biggest complaint of all the specialty ships is the level locks. Of all my specialty ships, I use my Defiant the most so I can get to deep space to kill 45 hostiles for my Fed rep... Which sucks at a level 39. So I don't have a pickle. The Borg Cube, other than the research, sucks. The Tally is finally a decent ship, but it's taken awhile to be decent. I also don't have the Titan and wasn't going to get one until a friend who is a 50+ player in an allied alliance has talked me into getting it, so I'm a couple months away from that. I like the Voyager, again, wish it weren't level locked. All of these ships I could level up higher, especially the Tally, but I can't. Which I guess is good as it's forced me to start actually leveling up my Enterprise and Augur. But it's all tough as a nearly free to play (I get the battle pass once a month).
I’m not as fond of the Titan A… if you do the daily loop, you can’t really stock up boost juice. It just seems too weak. It’s supposed to have the fastest impulse speed, but I think my Talios is still higher.
What would change my D to a solid B or higher would be one or both of the following: 1) give the Titan A a bonus of some sort in wave defenses; and/or 2) provide additional sourcing for boost juice.
Max fort is amazing in wave defenses too
i really wish instead of specialty ships they would do secondary faction ships. give 2 ship types at each of the faction ops level.
I wouldn’t put the Borg Cube as an F. It does grow with you, has a decent firing pattern and the cutting beam events have been among the ones to replace the awful worm ones in event arcs. I’m not saying it deserves an A, but at least a C-/D.
The Talios and Monaveen are helping me supplement early 40's until I can unlock the shards to build my 42 uncommon.
the one field Training for commerce tokens on the voyager should be 25k-40k, not 100k
I’d even accept 50k as the target… 100k seems ridiculous
After getting the Voy the first month it was available, I’m still only at 31k commerce insignias

Talios is great. Use it a lot. Now at lvl 53 is a 70m ship.
Pickle helps a lot with resources.
If the Borg didn’t need so many resources it would be a little better. At t6 it wants like 50 -60 unc 4* ore. It’s ridiculous and it’s loot loop is a pain.
Don’t have the titan.
Voyager helps a lot till lvl 52 but it’s loop loot it’s so terrible that’s now it’s collecting dust ( and at higher tiers needs lots of 5* and trit)
The borg cube is also absolutely ridiculously costly on mats to upgrade. The locks on upgrading it are also frustrating. They turned a win into a loss with the cube sadly.

Talios is great, useful and easy to upgrade. Voyager is okay but a lot of work defiant is like the voyager. I don't have a monaveen yet. I never use my Borg cube as it's too much work.
Picard is in Memory Alpha and Beta. There are no surprises.

Personally I liked the defiant when it came out and found it a useful PVP ship. I have it at T11 now and while it's still good at Dominion armadas I've out grown it for other uses.
@@gordonnewell3472 yeah, the only use for it is if you ever run out of Edicts, if that store doesnt get irrelevant before that
@@derpizzadieb TBH my defiant punches hard against the Dom armadas, so don't just use it for Edics, but each and every time I run them. Cheap repairs on it make it handy too.

All of the specialty ships are F- currently because 4/5 are level locked and no ability to source the cube making them all permanently out of reach for me.
I actually use my cube many times, op46 T6, great pve ship for me..
The frustration comes when you realize how many currencies you need to manage and it’s getting worse. I love Star Trek and have been playing nearly 5 years now. A currency manager where you can interchange credits from various currencies into whatever currency you need.
I think you did not touch the fact if any of specialty ships can replace or make you skip Uncommon or Rare fraction ships. Can you skip Enterprise with Voyager, Monaveen with Augur etc.. because I think that adds to "simplicity". I know the answer for myself, but when you put ALL needed resources for all ships in late 30's and early 40's I just do not feel there is enough time or resources to go with Titan or Cube. You are still doing Stella's, Mantis, Defiant, Cerritos... it is a lot. Or maybe the question is - what can you afford not to do?

Rev, not that your grade is wrong, but you are biased for the Talios because it has a ginormous trunk for all the fat OPC. The Tally is so good, if i did not need to get the Epic 3* to go to 40 i could have skipped it, because of this ship
Haven’t gotten the benefit of the Mona since my alliance is at war. Not a lot of passive grinding at the top levels on S14.
The part that frustrates me the most is this year will bring more ships and grinds and more ways to suck time and resources. Scopely keeps moving the goalpost and shortening the leash for f2p. There's already so much to do that I'm expecting to stay at my current level (46) for most of this year simply because I can't keep up with all the grinds. We are forced to choose between research, ships or progression. You can't do all of them and continue to advance to higher levels like before.
Problem with monaveen is that its locked behind high level territory, effectively locking out a huge portion of the playerbase. But I guess if you say its not too exciting for the lower-ish levels that its not such a problem... The whales are in the top alliances anyway
I'm lvl 40 and the Mona is my strongest ship. Second is my maxed ent.

as a lvl 35 player, I am highly meh about every single one of these ships. I am sure that some of them will be great down the road, but god only knows when I'll even be able to unlock them all. sourcing for any of these ships that you didn't unlock during their release is dubious. Sure, technically I can unlock the voyager, but here I am sitting on 3 blueprints. or maybe I'm up to 5 now, but either way, it's not a ship that I'm going to be able to fly anytime soon, and that's extremely irritating, especially when I hear good things about the ships
I cant see me getting any of the more recent ships for another 7 months, I am sure they'll be another load of ships to grind by then alas the sun will probably turn into a red giant by the time I get any of them to a useful level.
I saw from the start what the cube would be and did not like it at all, easy F on that one. The others are all good and have uses so As and Bs for them.
How does the NX-01 stack up to the ships from last year. I do not have it but right now it looks more like a cube than a Talios.

the cube is the best of the all, because it follows you into 58++. No need for second warship beside the faction one.

Ofcourse Talios will be on top, cargo, strenght, pvp, cheap repair, enough warprange, once tiered up lots of below bridge options, useful atleast until g6,😊 probably more.
Voyager, I agree with the stuff mentioned in the video but the real reason I love it is the easy income of ship xp and faction messages. That's the biggest reason I'm still doing the loop.
Titan-A, I see the value but honestly it doesn't feel like much. I don't really care about punching further up at Q's trails all that much. That loop is impactfull for sure (and boring), but I don't actually need to really punch up.
Monaveen, yeah g5 players need this. The amount of parsteel and trit needed to progress is otherwise unbearable. But it also is the reason you aren't forced to get another battleship for certain battleship related events. On top it gives you so much Dil from a single pull a day, which you don't need... BUT in many cases it can help your alliance by donating that Dil for more spots in said alliance.
As for Borgcube, it was easily tiered to t6 to open up some ok research. It can do some nice stuff with that beam ability during takeover or wave defence but that's not actually worth enough to take the time into it. I was happy to realize this wasn't a ship for me right from the start. Besides to do the loop a few times, I've never used it.
Ive only put the monaveen a D as ive not unlocked it yet but everything else A or B
I use my Talios daily. I was one of the first FtP on my server to get mine to tier 4 when it first came out. The voyager I use to get to the lvl 55 armadas for the starter chests. Have my ACC at Lvl 46 because of the voyager. Titian is used to boost my solo armadas. The other two ships are garbage. I don't care for the set it and forget it game play. I already do that with two miners every day. The cube is just a resource sink in the 40's that has no use,
Farming with voyager is fun and easy..................................... just the dam field training alot to do for a year+ time period thats all im pved about lol
