Stack-On 18 Security Cabinet GCB-18C Product Link: amzn.to/3PDTnAo Unboxing and setup of Stack-On Can hold 18 long / awkward_hamster / awkwardhamster / awkwardhamster
Had mine delivered to my home. It came dented, scratched, and had no key. I returned it and went to tractor supply. The cardboard around the cabinet was twice as thick, the keys were taped to the top, and there was no damage !
@@chrisherin4444 I just picked one up last week. Two small shelves and the bottom foam. If you look at the instruction manual online, you can see they removed the additional foam and changed the quantity of small shelves to 2 from the previous instruction manual. Mine also came with a broken top hinge. They are sending me a new hinge, but don't have any instructions on how to replace it.... So needless to say I am very unsure how this is going to go lol
I had one of these delivered to me yesterday. Same crappy packaging as in the video. Not a hint of the original factory boxing. NO instructions at all provided with mine! Not enough hardware included either. Little "plugs"? Forgetaboutit! The upright shelf divider was significantly bent out of shape too. I did get it bent back into a semblance of being straight. Thanks to my wife who helped assemble this puzzle finally. I am wondering if these Cabinets were earlier returns that were reboxed for another sale. Who knows! One would think that the seller [Stack On/Home Depot/Cabela's/etc] would take a little more pride in their product offerings? I have owned one of these several years ago and outside of a corner ding it was fine. My new one is now assembled and ready to hold stuff. It will work but it ain't no beauty.
That was helpful. I was going to have someone come over and help me with those parts. He said were difficult because the screws were short and you can’t reach your arm around the back. That’s the same problem I was having.
The racks giving the trouble here, if by yourself are difficult to install. And they’re hard plastic. A quality magnet rack works well with this cabinet. Much nicer on your units as well. And adjustable as your collection changes
I just got this cabinet and that's the route I'm thinking of going putting in magnetic racks instead of using the racking system that came with the cabinet
It works to keep kids out and prying eyes who dont have much time and cant carry it out. Bolting it to the ground will be a significant improvement for security
Just got the same one today from Home Depot. Mine arrived with broken hinge and one of the corners bent out of shape along with some of the shelves. This is not a sturdy cabinet, it will not survive shipping very well. I suggest that you pick it up from store instead of shipping it to your home.
Thank you for this video. I was curious about the unit holder closest to the door. It looks like it allows a very long gun such as a 28 inch barrel shotgun or older military rifle to be placed there without hitting the shelf?
Behind the shelf is an open space so my long ones go in the back and the barrel stick up past the shelf. The shorter rifles can rest at left or right of the cabinet.
The entire manual being something that they put on their website linked to some “key” written in pen on a sticker on the back of the unit cracks me the hell up. A. MY KEY WAS WRONG. B. What’s it save, like a penny per unit to not print a one page of instructions?
Great video - like how you ran into a bit of trouble and showed us how you got out of it with the center divider. I bought the same unit from Tractor Supply and should have opened it up at the store - bent to hell. Returned it and opened it in the store - then I put a dent in the top on the way home! 🙄 Oh well, not as noticeable as the side.
I don’t see myself upgrading the lock. After owning this for a few years, I don’t see myself buying a safe because those are too difficult to transport even when empty. This cabinet with my stuff still hundreds of pounds.

Did you get 4 small shelves and more than one foam piece? I only got the bottom foam and two shelves.

Thanks for sharing
Agreed. My cabinet came missing missing the door hinge....
You got someone else's return. All of the hardware should've been locked inside the cabinet and the foam should've only been two solid squares.
That was helpful. I was going to have someone come over and help me with those parts. He said were difficult because the screws were short and you can’t reach your arm around the back. That’s the same problem I was having.
I like the shelving configureability and it's just as thief proof as the heavy types
Mine came perfect and I'm happy 170 shipped to my door
Spot on. With items in the cabinet, it easily weighs a few hundred pounds.
Lol agreed to your comment on installing the gun holder. Took my a long time. 🤦♂️

Thank You Sir.
You’re welcome

I just bought 18 stack on
Couldn't you drill holes lower to lower the gun rests to accommodate shorter rifles
That's exactly what I was thinking, grab a bit and go to town. That thin of metal it would be a 10 minute job.
Any thoughts on upgrade the lock?

This cabinet with my stuff still hundreds of pounds.
An 18 gun fire safe wouldn't weigh 700 pounds more like 250lbs
